  1. Carl and Marca - You both must be devestated with this news and as well, so very proud of Dorothea and how she is handling this challenge. You have our prayers!
  2. Tapatalk sure works well for me and if I understand correctly, it uses less data than going directly to the site on your smart phone.
  3. Wow is right. Amazing that your father in law survived that. Hope it is a good omen for you and your family for 2012.
  4. Amazing pics --- love the "saddle" seat!
  5. Looking forward to attending with my wife Anne.
  6. Guess I done it too. With the weather a fair bit above freezing, I fired up the bike and rode to the bike show here in Toronto - billed as the largest one in North America. Parked close to a shiny "special edition" 2nd gen and thought that it was just like Abdul's new bike. Met both Abdul (Chabicheks) and Ray (Paysaw) at the show and had a great visit. Found out that the shiney "special edition" did belong to Abdul as he also rode to the show today. Life is wondergful!
  7. Hey Ray and Abdul, just let me know where and when you are getting together at the show and I will join you. In case you don't still have it, my cp no is 416 459 6119.
  8. Anne and I will be there. Bob and Tom, the restaurant is about 45 minutes from the show location and there is not much else to do in that area after you tire yourselves out at the show. You are welcome to come to our place for a vist and drink and to give Tom and Amy a feel for the heart of Toronto if you have time for that.
  9. helated Happy new year to all. Just got back from the cottage where I did a bit of sledding on my Yamaha Venture sled so I am just now catching up with this thread. Anne and I are looking forward to joining everyone who can make dinner in Burlington. Still working out stuff and will go to the show on Friday if I can't make it on Satuurday.
  10. Hey Randy - Sad to hear about your sale but congratulations on your purchase and future plans. In my case, my first love was horses and I had a bunch of them. In fact, bought my first bike back in 1962 to get to a horse place where I hung out. About 35 years later, I gave up all my horses and with my wife, bought our first sailboat. Still have a sailboat, and we still enjoy the sailing experience, which is even harder to explain to others than the joy of riding. Enjoy!!!
  11. Been away for a while - so just read all these posts. Very interesting! Looks like some members get IT and some don't. Now I am thinking, who are the lucky ones?
  12. Saw the same commercial (the same day as Brian) and immediately told my wife that the bike in the commercial was a Venture.
  13. I did the same with my trailer lights - bought 1257 led bulbs. They worked and were a bit more noticeably from straight back, but definitely worse from an angle and also, it was harder to tell the difference betwean tail and brake/signal, so I didn't sue them.
  14. Good tip. I have always used compressed air to blow out any debris before I remove the plugs (using a long flexible tip) but I can see from your post that this may not get everything and without using a mirror, I guess you can't be sure.
  15. Not a good word to use Bob --- "snowing that is"!
  16. Found this to be an interesting thread. Am intrigued by the range of symptoms reported. My experience is the same as for Heartbeat.
  17. --- and that is what I did for the first of the 5 items that I drilled to mount. I guess I got unlucky as the holes in the feet of the trunk rack (which was not a VentureLine rack) were not centered in the piping so I had to drill bigger holes than I wanted to compensate. That is why I tried to avoid that problem with the other items I mounted as I described in my original post. Again, this was just my own experience for what it is worth.
  18. I will offer an additional comment to consider. I drilled holes for 5 items when mounting these on my 88VR - one on top of my trunk, two on the sides of tthe trunk, and two on the saddlebag lids. From all that, I found that because I didn't have the original templates to locate the holes to mount each item, my greatest challenge was to precisely locate them so the screws fit properly. I found two things that helped. One was to start with a single hole and mount the rack with one screw, and them mark the other holes from there. The second thing that I found that helped with this challenge was to insert screws (or something similar) in the rack that had the heads cut off and that were filed to a point which would precisely mark the plastic. I suspect others just drilled slightly larger sized holes to deal with this, but I did not want to do that and I can tell you from experience that the location of the holes needs to be fairly precise.
  19. Anne and I wold love to volunteer and we are prepared to work hard as required.
  20. Brian - Bad enough to get banged up as you did because of somebody else's bad driving. Sure hope you feel better soon. To see your 85VR damaged like that and to have to repair or replace it sure adds insult to injury.
  21. YES!
  22. Just signed in Earl so let me add my best wishes for a good year ahead that I hope is easier on your body and brings you lots of smiles.
  23. I know there is no answer to "why" but this should never happen. Our prayers are with you and your family.
  24. So glad you folks had a good trip and good weather. Life can be wonderful and it sounds like you folks had a wonderful week.
  25. For sure Brad!
