  1. One of those is NOT enough. There was a guy who beat the Hyabusa powered machine by 20 feet. But he had a weight fall off and got DQ'd. He had 3 snowmobile engines on that baby.:thumbsup2:

  3. And make sure you have engaged the u-joint properly by trying to turn the hub on the final drive with bike in gear. It is possible to have the drive shaft slip along side the u-joint and not be engaged. Many here have done just that, and put it all together, only to find out it won't go anywhere.   4. Found this at the tractor pulls last night. Didn't run worth a darn though. Lots of motorcycle engines in the outlaw class, a hyabusa powered one won it. No V4s though, anybody got an engine laying around to donate to the cause?

  7. Might be able to talk Karen into rinding with you for a bit?? You'll definately want to stiffen up the back suspension. The biggest concern I have is Erika getting on and off the bike in the first place. Once on, she just needs to become one with the bike. And you have to deal with a bike with more weight on it... hopefully not a moving around right about the time you stop the bike kind of weight. You could start with a few sacks of potatoes or something strapped on the back seat to get used to the weight. Good Luck, Scooter Bob
  8. Before you rebuild, have you tried greasing the lever pin, and more inportantly the contact point between the lever and piston? Just a thought, Scooter Bob

  10. Not lookin' real good for Cody at this point. Starting Physical Therapy in a couple hours, twice a week for the next 3 weeks. Trying to get muscles stretched out in the hopes they quit the spasms. Not doing too bad though, I don't think.

  12. Here's another shot of the one they finished last week... And one a few miles to the west along with a couple very near future build sites... Had to leave for now, they said it takes about an hour after the blades gets into position to get the bolts installed and properly torqued before they can unhook the crane and hook the next blade. And it's getting warm out there, what with no breeze...
  13. And here's the first blade being lifted... Looks like they also turn the generator head as well as the nose cone to help get proper alignment.
  14. I talked to a couple workers. They said they put up the tower and everything on top and ready for blades yesterday, mostly in the morning. And I thought it was too windy. They say they can set the bigger pieces in a little more breeze due to the weight. But it must be really calm to do the blades. Here's what I found this morning when I got there.
  15. Or the Air beds, they make them to fit inside waterbed frames... and ya won't get wet when it leaks.
  16. Between yesterday morning and this morning, they set the upper two tower sections and the generator head and nose cone on the next turbine. Waiting for the first blade to get lifted.   18. I bought a brand new Honda Spree in in July of 87. 50cc, 30 mph tops, and better than 100 mpg. I put 2,000 miles on that thing in 2 months, 200 on Labor Day weekend alone. I started thinkin' I like this riding thing. Bought an 83 Sportster a week later. Nickname stuck though... Later, Scooter Bob

  23. As an added note, if you have the vent holes and add the extra fuel... Ride it right away. Cold fuel from the ground will expand some as it warms up to outside air temp. If you fuel up and then sit down to eat, or park it at work, you will lose some of that fuel onto the ground from the overflow tube.
  24. I don't see any grade stamp on the bolt head. Looks like it was made to be pretty. Since braking doesn't stress the bolt, except when backing up, I would think any grade you can find would be fine. Better grade might get better corrosion protection though.
