I could be wrong:scratchchin:... But I think I've heard some of the bigger truck stops have minor medical services available, do any have a Chiropractor handy on your route?? Just a thought, Scooter Bob -
Good One Bubber. Yall 'll have to put up with me for a few more weeks. I got notin' better to due right now but Jab, Dig, and Poke. Then we'll see who'll even talk to me at Cody. Later, BUBBER BUBBER... who figures if'n I could just read all these Jabs, Digs, and Pokes while on the scoot, I wouldn't need new speakers:rotfl:

They may have meant "Clymer's manual". It has a Two tone Green 99 Venture on the cover, and will cover your bike. Nothing has changed on the bikes, the manual will be good. As far as an MD, We just hosted one here last weekend. Granted, I have some wrenchin' experience, as did many others that were here. But we did mostly basic stuff, never split a fairing, pulled one back wheel, a few carb syncs, and plenty of BS'n. I have been to a few other MDs though. Two others in WI, the big one in Ohio, small one in Bogalusa, and a med sized one in TX. They can (and should) be fun. Don't tackle anything you're not sure about, or have an expert on speeddial (right Squidley, thanks). But if you've got enough guys around, you should be able to figure out where to swing that big hammer. Good Luck, Scoter Bob

Holy Cow, No wonder my back and leg hurt

All I did yesterday was put a 500 pc puzzle together in 3 hours. What gets me is how right he was. I was walking around 5 hours after surgery and all the next day, and feelin' great. Then Now I'm about as slow as I was when I went in Monday. But, he said it would happen, and will go away soon. -

Boy, that Doctor is right on the money with this procedure, I think he may have done some before. Even though I had almost no pain or problems or took any drugs, he insisted I fill prescriptions for Valium and Vicaden. I thought he was in cahoots with the drug companies. He said in a couple days swelling of the thecal sac(nerve bundle) most likely would cause pain and muscle spasms. Dangit! he was right. I took a vicaden before bed last night, and a vicaden and a valium in the middle of the night. Walked out to the garage all right this morning, but when I headed back in, the spasms hit and now I'm stuck out here waiting for Karen to get up and help me back in the house. Smarty Pants Doc. On the rear... I got about 7k out of the stock brickstone. I got between 14k and 15k out of 3 ME880s 150 wide. I pulled the first Venom off at 16k with a couple k left in them due to a long trip I've got 16k on this one and it has a 1 or 2k left as well, but will come off early for the Cody trip if I can make it. The ME880's get scalloped and real noisy in the corners after about 10k, the Venoms are just starting to make a little noise. I've had such good luck with the Venoms, I can't see a reason to try the Dunlop E3's so many like on here. If you get the Venom AM42 for the rear, be sure to get the 80H load range, you've got a big bike here. Just my , Scooter Bob

The issue you have at L4-L5 is similar to what I had at L5-S1. I also didn't have the other issues everywhere else. The discectomy is the removal of the protruding disc. The other procedures are to access it. To access the disc area the Laminectomy involves removal of the entire back part of the vertibrae to access the spinal column, the Laminotomy involves removal of only a small part of the vertibrae to gain access to the spinal column, and the micro discectomy removes none of the vertibrae and uses tiny microscope to see what they are doing. Take a look at WEB MD for better info, and also an animation of the laminectomy procedure. http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/discectomy-or-microdiscectomy-for-a-herniated-disc http://www.webmd.com/video/laminectomy Best of luck to you Gary, Scooter Bob -

I have to see the Doc for a follow up on the 5th of July. He said he'd decide then if any PT at all was needed. The biggest concern last time around was stretching out the hamstrings and other muscles that have been babied due to the leg pains. I'll probably work on stretching those out on my own after the wound gets healed up a little better. Right now, there's only super glue holding it together, they pulled the staples right before I left this afternoon. Later, Scooter Bob -

Ya, good idea. The plan all along (due to vacation time constraints) was to leave Friday night and get to MN. All day Sat and Sun and maybe some of Monday to get there. Spend a couple days checking out Yellowstone and the rally, and then having a few days to get back while checking out the Black Hills stuff also. We'll see how things go, Scooter Bob -

Don't worry guys, I won't push it to hurting something again. But the Doc keeps making it sound like the MicroDiscectomy done 15 years ago doesn't allow good visibility and sometime parts of disc get left in. Failure rate bad enough that many insurance companies won't allow it anymore. He says the Laminotomy procedure is done with only about a 1" longer inscision and allows much better visibility to remove and clean up all disc material sticking out. He doesn't seem at all worried about the disc and spine area, only that the inscision heals up properly. When I get riding, it will be short hops at first, just to see how things feel. Sure feels good to be home again though, crying grandson and all. Later, Scooter Bob -

Out of the hospital! Not kiddin', Karen heard it too. If the seat and backrest aren't bothering my inscision, I can ride in 7 days! Yeee haaa!!! Later, Scooter Bob -

I wonder if all the pain over the last couple months didn't raise my pain threshhold? I passed on the morphine drip, and the vicadin pills. I've taken nothing for pain, and I feel way better than when I came in! Later, Scooter Bob -

Ya, they wrote me off work for 6 weeks, returning on the 25th of July. So at work Friday, I handed them the doctor paperwork , and a vacation request for the first week back. We'll see how it goes, but I really want to get Karen out there for the sights. Oh, almost forgot, I just took a walk around the block already!! Later, Scooter Bob -

Been back awake for more than an hour already. Slid myself from one bed to another with less pain than this morning. Sitting here now, I have almost no pain anywhere, and it feels way better. Waiting for the chance to stand up and walk yet. Later, Scooter Bob -

Today is the day. Finally got ahold of the scheduling folks yesterday, supposed to be there at 9:15, and operation starts at 10:45 this morning. I just wanted to bump this to the front page so Karen can find it if she needs to give an update this evening, if I'm not coherent yet. Thanks for the well wishes everyone, much appreciated.
