In case nobody has told ya yet, this site is like Mafia. Once you're in, there's only 1 way out. I've found the people here are a lot more friendly to ANY brand than those other 'clubs'.

That's the one. Litchfield exit off I-55. Can't miss it. Hope ya can make it.

Hey Bill. Look for the hat & coffin! I'll be there till about noon. Hope to see ya.

Has anybody had any experience with this ?
Rottdoglover replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
Haven't had personal experience, but saw one in action and it was a slick operation. Didn't get to see how it unloaded though. We will await your first hand report. Biking the Grand Canyon sounds like a great vacation plan. -
I made it! My first M&E but it won't be my last! Met some good folks(and that Snarley guy to). Just kidding Bill. You guys put on a great gathering and ride. Had a real good time. Thanks

Black Owl, I think somebody should set you straight! You shouldn't be thanking me for paying my taxes. It is I who should be thanking you, and all those like you, for making this a country where we are able to pay taxes. Yes we all get fed up with the way tax money is wasted, but some things, like your hearing, do make the burden a little more bareable. My Freedom to ride was given by those who died Thank You:usa:

A couple pics in Crackerbarrels parking lot Thurs. evening. Friday brought bad weather. That ol' Snarley guy and LA didn't scare me (to bad) so hopefully I will ride back down Sat and at least have breakfast with the bunch. If the ones I met are a representation of all the VR members, seems like a good crowd to be in.

Tomorrow looking better for riding. Which ride you think you'll take then.

Slick setup. AND color matching. They should be able to see you coming, or going.

Don't care what 'ya call me Ruffy, just as long as you call me for mealtime.

Mrs likes Wing better. Says more room, less wind. I just have to believe her as I'm not going to be passenger while she drives. And I don't really take the ribbing to serious as I still have the Venture to thank for finding this site.

My hats off (blinding glare) to you :clap2:for thinking of ways to make it easier on Don. Lets hope that EVERYONE at MD will consider the circumstances this year and dig DEEP -REALLY DEEP- in their pocket for "the can"

When I built a 750 Honda trike I took a small car rearend (pinto) apart and rebuilt it to my needs. I cut out the center casting so I had 2 tubes with splined axles and brakes. Took the ring gear off the carrier and put rear sproket in it's place. To hold the carrier centered, I used 2 pillow block bearings (greasable)that were just big enough to get axle splines through. Had to machine axles down to bearing size just about 2" from where splines ended. The axle assembly was attached to a swing arm so I did not need to use a center connection between the 2 axles as they were welded to frame. Also drilled the outer bearings for grease fitting. They used the rearend grease for lube before. Rode it many troublefree miles. Sorry I don't have pictures but that was a few (quite a few) years back. An easier way is to find a 90 degree gear box and sprocket the input shaft then yoke/driveshaft the output shaft.

Tupperware? A plastic container that holds FOOD! An appropriate item for an EATING club (with a riding disorder) I woud think.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Gen 1 Venture but get cramped up on longer rides. So I went to JUST LOOK at a 2002 GW with 25K miles on it. Well, I made an offer I thought the guy would counter (you know the game) and he says OK. Just got it home and put insurance on it. Will get plates tomorrow and be set. For now I am keeping my Venture to pull it's matching trailer. Get a lot of kicks watching people's reaction to trailer.

Need help...To Trike or not to Trike? That is the question.
Rottdoglover replied to Aimhigh's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
To Trike or not to Trike? That is the question. 'Tis nobler to stay upright on three, or be humiliated and find yourself prone under two. Me thinks 'tis better to be free on three. "Willie Shake a spear' 2009 -
You've lived here long enough to know 'ya can't trust them guys. One will let you ride over the limit and the next (usually newby) will stop you if you are anywhere near the speed limit. He probably saw your frontend come down for the shift and figured you hit the brakes when you saw him. Glad he just warned you. I was stopped once by S.O.S. for 59 in a 55. He warned me too. Some (but not all) are just anal with attitude. Flip side is I got a warning for going WELL over the limit when I explained circumstances to the OLDER officer.

How I contributed to the crash of my Venture
Rottdoglover replied to MiCarl's topic in Lessons Learned
Glad you escaped serious injury. We all have 20/20 hindsight but who's to say if you were in the right lane it wouldn't have happened. You may have taken a hit T-bone style. You know the old saying woulda, coulda, shoulda don't really help when the other driver screws up. Hopefully she will remember this for a LONG time and be a better driver for it. Sad to see all your restoration work gone in a heartbeat. Guess you'll just have to cage it to MD.- 29 replies

Must agree here. Tried the cinnamon pills for diabetes. Didn't do a thing to help. Sure made for some good burps though.

Funny......yet sad...54 years ago.... Comments made in the year 1955! That's only 54 years ago! 'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $10.00. 'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $1, 000.00 will only buy a used one. 'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. 20 cents a pack is ridiculous. 'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter 'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store. 'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 25 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage. 'I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it. 'I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down inTexas . 'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $50,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President. 'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now. 'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet. 'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work. 'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business. 'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to government. 'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on. 'There is no sense going on short trips anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $2.00 a night to stay in a hotel. 'No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $15.00 a day in the hospital, it's too rich for my blood.' 'If they think I'll pay 30 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'
