  1. Well just got back from the Ga. maintenance day or should I say meet and eat with a little tinkering on the scoots. Steve I want to thank you for syncing my carbs and the use of you shop and your hospitality and also the food. Terry it was great to see you as always and thanks for all that you do. Randy I hope you find your washer. It will show up as soon as you buy another one. George and Bobbie it was great seeing you again. Those gauges look great. I t was great seeing all of you again and meeting the rest of you also. Larry thanks for the helmet. Dave (Double D) I think your running out of places to put things on your bike. Barend I'm sorry ya'll had to leave so early maybe we will have more time to chat next time. Way to many people to remember all the names. Lots of maintenance got occomplished today and lots of friendships made also.
  2. glad to hear the good news.
  3. I have cruised at 35 in 5th however if I give it much throttle I all it will buck and shake it's way up until the speed gets fast enough to smooth it out. If I give it a lot of throttle you better hang on because it will shake you to pieces. Both of my Ventures do this. "and you will NEVER hit the rev limiter in 4th. I'm topped mine out in 5th gear and then downshifted to 4th and picked up more speed. These bikes will actually run faster in 4th than they will in 5th." I have only actually hit the rec limiter once and I think I was up around 90 in third.
  4. Hi Mike this is the first time I've seen the post and they look great! I knew as soon as I opened the post it was you that did it. Really looks nice but I need to save a lot of pennies to do something like that.:thumbsup2:
  5. I have two Ventures and one of them tends to buck in fifth pretty bad if your going under 65 and give it the throttle. The other doesn't buck as bad just a little shimmy. My bikes sound like I'm really putting on the RPM's but if I keep accelerating the RPM's seem to settle down with the sound of the engine (if that makes any since). I know that 80 in third is not to much. I've done 100 in forth without hitting the rev limiter. Like they said before "ride it like you stole it" and see if you like it any better. Harry Oh and enjoy your cruise. My wife and I go on one every year since we took our first one. I love it.
  6. Both my legs get warm on a hot day. It does seem the engine sticks out a little bit further on the left than the right. A friend had the same issue when he picked up his new Venture (2005 model). He said the left pipes got hot and the right ones didn't. I rode the bike and it seemed to have plenty of power, it idled fine the only issue was when you started off you had to give it a little more gas and feather the clutch a little more. I thought it ran fine. Ralph was convinced something was wrong so he pulled the carbs and found the right side pilot jets clogged. He cleaned them and put them back in and it has been fine ever since. So that is something you may want to check into. You may want to put a whole can of Sea Foam in the tank and run it through. It may fix the problem and it will not hurt anything in case it doesn't fix the problem.
  7. I'll be there and if Dave3 doesn't post he will be there. Maybe the men can get up a card game or something while all the ladies are fixing the bikes. (I didn't say that).
  8. How about a throttle lock? I have one on my Road Star but it will not hold a certain speed unless you are on level ground.
  9. Where Are the pictures????? Some of us might want to copy errr see the bikes new passing lights.
  10. Thanks guys. I have an owners manual and a shop manual. I'll check and see what it says.
  11. At what speed can you set your cruise and make it hold? On my MM I have set it at 84mph even though it is not suppose to set above 80mph. However on my 2001 I can't set it above about 60 or 65 and have it hold. A friend (SteveW) says that his is the same way but he can bump it you to about 75 mph after he sets it at 60 and bumps it up. I have not tried this but I will. So let me know how your cruise works and at what speeds. Canu you set it at 80 or do you have to set it at a lower speed and bump it up? Harry
  12. I don't know the name of the place but it is on I-75 exit 2, 3 or 5. One of those exits. It is on the west side of I-75 and on the north side of the highway. You are probably closer than I am so if your looking for an excuse to ride go check this place out and let us know how it is. Sorry I don't have the name of the place.
  13. It must be APRIL 1st!
  14. Well the new Harley's go from about $18,000 to about $30,000. Some even higher. The used ones are pretty expensive also. If I were you I would just fix the clutch and wait to jump them again.:rotfl:
  15. My best deal was a 2001 RSV with 4,550 miles on it for $5,300.
  16. You got it. It is only the OEM parts not accessories. For Accessories I still use Yamaha Sports Plaza. I didn't even check out the accessories on this site since they did not advertise discounts for accessories. This is only for OEM parts. If you where to order a combined order of accessories and OEM parts I would stick with Sports Plaza or another discount accessory dealer but for just OEM parts I haven't found a better place. I'm sure there is one out there I just haven't found it yet.
  17. Looks Great!
  18. Hey Check this place out for OEM Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki discount parts. I just compared prices with my local Yamaripoff store and I saved over 50%. I was using Yamaha Sports Plaza out of Oregon but they were out of a part I needed so I went looking. I ordered 5 OEM Yamaha parts and this place beat Sports Plaza on every item. Also Yamaha Sports Plaza shipping was $14.95 and this place was $10 another saving. http://www.motosportwarehouse.com/?gclid=CL3rm-OF5KACFUmU7Qod3h3HJw :thumbsup2:
  19. They are on ebay now.
  20. Looks like your wearing a uniform Ron. Can't tell if it is police or military. If it is police that explains the blue lights. I have blue lights on my Road Star but I don't dare turn them on while riding. Some people do and get away with it while others feel the wrath of law enforcement. I bet it looks great though.
  21. I bet it looks great at night. Red and black also looks good. Heck everything looks good on black!
  22. Glad I could help.
  23. Hi Dave, I haven't used either oil but I have heard a lot of good things about both. I use Rotella myself and it works great also. The reason a lot of people switch for Amsoil I hear is the cost. However it is a motorcycle motor oil from what I understand. Mobil 1 and Rotella are not motorcycle motor oils but both work great. There are several oil filters you can use also. I use the one from Wal Mart for $2.83 and it is made by the same company that makes some of the top brand names. Some people have a problem putting a $2.83 oil filter on there bike and I understand that. Anyway just some info for you none of which is first hand except the Rotella. Harry
  24. Yea I'm going to replace the washer but I have to wait for Yamaha to open tomorrow.
