  2. On my way home yesterday I noticed the back of my legs were getting cooked, I attributed it to a suspected leak in the exhaust possibly dumping more hot air into the engine compartment. Rode a little this evening and same thing happened except that all of a sudden it would disappear, and come back, and disappear, and ... you get the picture. The temp gauge did not waiver from well in the green (one width above horizontal), yet it would seem that I am only getting intermittent cooling, yet the cooling reservoir is full. Is it possible to not have coolant flow through the engine, without it showing on the gauge? Where would I have a blockage for this to happen? What other cause could there be for this excess heat build up?
  3. How many wraps do you make? ones around, twice, trice?? Also, I've only got 24K on my bike, shouldn't these things last longer? Thanks
  4. went by the shop just yesterday, mine's popping really! nice:smilies6: They quoted $250 for Yamaha OEM seals (all) and another $150 in labor. he said only $70 if it is just the collector, didn't ask how much for parts if it's jut that. Gonna have to do something though, she's been umm ... :ignore:temperamental the last few days to start.
  5. Had that done some 25 years ago in the winter and then RODE home (650 Virago) 75 miles!! Did take a pill before I got out of town. In all fairness, the aftermath was not funny, all I could do to lay still on the floor and not scream!!
  6. That what you call a mid-life crises?? What took you so long?
  7. Actually Don, on the home page there used to be a "new Posts" button on the bottom line of the header bar. so far I have seen it everywhere but the home page. Its between "calender" and "search" on the "reply to thread" page. Now a "new Post" button would have to force you which forum you want to post in . Since I understand you don't sleep and I'm sure you don't have anything better to do:starz:, I'm sure you could spend some productive time figuring that out!
  8. It disappeared when you became a paying member ! Still have the one on the left sidebar though! How about a "new thread" button on the top?

    VR Vs GL

I have an '83 Royale. Miles: 24K, still need to rebuild brake master, probably need exhaust seals and a carb job. How does this bike compare to a '84 Honda GL1200?? Performance, mechanical, ballpark value? Get more detail on the wing later today. Looking at a sidecar and the wing has the mounting brackets installed whereas I would have to figure how to fabricate them for the VR.
  10. How much should I expect to pay for a Vetter terraplane in fair condition? do any of you know of a leaner for sale (no Greg, not in GB!)?
  11. Just got back from a little spin around and though Brenda (mine) has chosen to ride with me she is very apprehensive and constantly telling me to slow down and be carefull. If I could just get her to relax and enjoy!!!
  12. 1983 Venture w. 10K on the clock, no title, been sitting since '02 needs carbs rebuild for starters. Seems complete. No further info available.

  14. So, my wife has said she will not ride in one, I don't have small children to cart around and no desire to cart some annoying obnoxious little S***t dog around. Sure I can justify anything I want if I want it bad enough, but for right now, I'd like to have a tad more. The only reason I can come up with to get off the fence and buy a car is the uniqueness of the thing. To be different!! So why do you ride a Hack (I think you call it)?? I will have an opportunity to meet with the VP of the USCA and talk to him in person and see his Flexit in a couple of weeks, Go from there and see what happens!
  15. Dragonrider has one listed for sale (bid) I think with proceeds going to St. Jude! Tank appears to be in good condition with minimal (as in next to no) rust showing in the neck Just so you know
  16. Beats me Dan, I'm just telling me mine runs without the computer on.
  17. My '83 fired up without the module installed. Not saying it should, but it does. MY CPM is also cutting out again, presumably due to a poor connection in back; biker runs fine though. Just thought you (he) might want to know and just go out and ride.
  18. For what it's worth, (and i can't lay my hands on the claim right now ,but it is out of a professional magazine) Objects being launched out from under a lawnmower can do as much damage as a .357!! I've got a (partially) detached retina as a result of a sweetgum ball ricocheting of a tree.
  19. Sounds like a road trip! Up without, down with. works for me
  20. Anybody on here into restoring old John Deere tractors? My friend in Holland is almost finished restoring a 1964 John Deere Lanz tractor, but can't find the decalls. If you or someone you know can help let me know. barend@my-gardener.biz Thanks
  21. Wellllll ...butter my butt and call me a biscuit!!! Says "NO RECORDS FOUND", go figure!!!
  22. two words: "global warming". won't be long we won't be able to talk about that anymore either:innocent:. Truth is (I think), people are too willing to sacrifice their rights and freedoms to others whom they believe will get them a better deal, so long as it doesn't interfere with their daily routine (life). i.e. personal responsibility and rugged individualism have been corrupted by labor unions (sorry guys) and government! So now we are in a situation where we cannot talk about car maker trouble without also having to talk about the role of government and labor unions. Now i am really going to shut up!
  23. you forgot a part: the advertising budget was cut in half as well! ... and now I need to stop lest it turns political. Which is what this whole mess is anyway.
  24. Find me one of those and I may just have to join you guys!! 'Course my wife has already proclaimed she will never ride in one. Which is what she said about riding on the back.
