  1. You didn't tag anyone!!:bang head: Now how are those of us who don't know, know who it is we don't know???
  2. My E4 code keeps springing up more and more, so I made time to see about fixing it. It took some doing to get the housing open. The pic shows some type of clear resin(?) which used to coat(?) the connectors having run of the board and essentially gluing the back cover to the housing. Is this "melting" of the I guess, protective cover, normal for the bikes age? Does it affect performance? I do see some small hairline fracture so I'll be fixing those, just want to make sure it's not wasted effort. Thanks joints aresoldered and unit is back together and seems to be working (for now ;-P) still would like to know about the "leak". Also curious if the CLASS can be made to work while the bike is running?
  3. Don't know, but if someone could tell me where to find a bushing for mine???
  4. So you did call him and made him pick you up! Looks nice Rooster, good seeing you again.
  5. Picked up my bike from the dealer at lunch they replaced the head gaskets and verified my rattle was the collector (total $240 and 2.5 hours). Hopefully this will resolve my heat issue coming from the rear cylinders. I tried to get this info from the (service) manual bur either missed it or it's not there, so here is the purpose of this post. The "heatshield" on the top of the rear cylinders and the canister which fits just above that on the back side both are damaged from the heat, i.e. they melted! What is the canister (it's got two hose nipples recessed in the top), what is it for, do I need it? if so, does someone have one? She seems to run fine without it though. Thanks.
  6. it'll be just Brenda and myself, friends can't make it. See everyone 5-6-ish

  8. Earl, It is not a "rush job" other than me having to decide what to do about it before they take it of the lift. They had not even looked at what would be needed to fix it. i just got the call with the question right before they closed for the day. I'll try and see if I can live with the rattle for a while, probably a matter of finding the right RPM's:innocent: Thanks for the feed back guys!
  9. Like by tomorrow a.m. The shop confirmed I got a loose baffle in my collector. haven't been able to ride it in three weeks and am getting antsy. So please tell me: Aside from the rattle, will I do further damage by riding with it loose? Can You remove a loose baffle without removing the collector? Can you eliminate the collector altogether? They still have it on the lift and if I let them know in the a.m. whether to tackle it, they might actually be able to get me back on the road before the weekend. Thanks a milion!
  10. might be worth calling the local tech college and finding the welding instructor??
  11. Sometimes i know what I'm talking about ...... Glad that 20 years professional experience paid off for you:cool10:
  12. check this: http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=snapper&mn=HZT21480BV+(82533)+48%22+21+HP+ZTR+Twin+Stick+Series+0&dn=10446 #7 Diagram: HZT21480BV+%2882533%29+48%22+21+HP+ZTR+Twin+Stick+Series+0 TWIN STICK CONTROL ASSEMBLY (L.H.) SNA Snapper 5100728 (replaces 5022978) DAMPENER, Hydraulic
  13. It's called "root propagation": geeesssshhh!!! Or if you prefer "layering"!
  14. Mini; Brenda and I are planning on coming for dinner (possibly plus two friends). What is on the schedule for the rest of the day?? you have an address for 'Berliner Kindl'? (being lazy here!)
  15. You ought to branch out into other interests! It's obviously a 'puddlestumper' from the rainforests of Central Africa:cool17:
  16. Got it in mine, temp needle runs middle of green! and no diluting! somewhat pricey
  17. Don, Not familiar with the snapper, but mine have what looks like a shock attached to the steering mechanism (like on a SUV rear window) Had one one time that broke (many years ago) that caused a steering steering problem, also check all your linkages and make sure none are bent. As monty says, air in the line is possible but you should (have) be(en) able to hear that with excess whine especially under load. i.e. check your fittings. Mine have a single reservoir hydro oil, so make sure all couplings are set up so any air can flow out of the lines into the reservoir. Rebuilding these puppies is about as costly as new ones so don't bother. also if you replace one you will not have a matching set so you may have to deal with that. Warranty? Most homeowner units carry 2 years! If you have a good dealer you may be able to get a loaner while they fix yours, if you take it to a big box store they'll sent it to a wholesale fixer in whom I have no faith whatsoever. Good luck!
  18. had a great ride today through the NC mountains (Piscah Nat'l Forest). Weather was great, traffic not too bad, company was Exceptional (thanks for joining us Randy!). all in all put right at 200 miles on the ododmeter, were out about 8 hours, stops included. Two of the bikes wound up taking a short cut to pacify the girlfriend, but what are you going to do. We'll have to do that again sometime, maybe with a bigger group?! Randy, we got home around 7 after a Starbucks stop. Hope you got home safe!
  19. SC allows you 30 days past the end of the month to get your plate renewed .....
  20. Hmm, $7K new car; $700 fix car ....damn, what to do ... 'course i don't know what else is wrong with your Saab. you going to buy this new car outright? if not, you got payments, you want those with all this 'change' going on??
  21. Seems you should be able to get someone to appraise it without taking it to them. especially if there's a lot. Just thinking
  22. Steve, Used to own one of those too, part of the problem is oxidation run off from the roof. I hate black trailers, you see everything!! Are the decals still flush or are they starting to peel on the edges (especially on the south west side). If you decide to sell it I doubt the time investment will give you that much more value, and if you keep it you're likely going to have to live with faded black. Good luck with it!!
  23. Nope! The car is ready for shipping and should be picked up about the 12th and should be here within ten days after that. Don't know how long it's going to take me to get it mounted, wired and painted. Brakes 'd be another story. Hate to add this but ... For the record: this subject is off the record when my wife's around, for now! Personal reasons!! she'd be driving the TT if she decides to follow us.
  24. Randy, Thinking about maybe coming up for Saturday dinner. Won't be able to make it a three day event. Actually wan to scope this route for a fall color run, let you know!
  25. We're planning on leaving our house in Easley Sc about 1030 (128 Lakeshore Dr) and heading up to hendersonville, NC via 135, 11 and 25 then pick up 64W all the way to Dillard, Ga and return via 76 and 123, We'll stop along the way for lunch and anything else. So far 5 bikes, maybe one cage (depending on which bike I ride and how twistie the road looks). Anyone want to join us or meet up along the way feel free to shoot me a PM. Should be about a 190 mile, 4plus hour run. I just need to decide :scratchchin:if I want to ride a real bike or the Shadow:innocent:
