  1. Hey Mike! What happened to the trolling motor?!?

    i/c ?

Just to clarify what Popeye said, the intercom volume is separate from the cb or radio volume. It's control is the right hand knob below the radio. It doesn't turn off but if you turn it all the way down it's as good as off. The headphone button, between the two volume controls, switches between all sound in the speakers or all sound in the headphones.
  3. I guess he decided to leave that up to me George! It's pretty nice for a ...................................MINI-BIKE! Actually I rode it through the neighborhood and it rides really nice with smooth power from the EFI and it is easy to maneuver at slow speeds. I did some figure 8s and tight circles in his cul-de-sac and it was very tame. It was good seeing you and Charlene as well, Lewis. Wish I could've stayed for some of her great Cajun cookin'! Are you going to make it next Sunday for royalstarjac's fall foliage run? If so, maybe we can meet up in Woodstock or something. 8:30 there would be early enough. Maybe we can get a group from here and pick up Albino Rhino on the way thru' Jasper.
  4. Looks good! Did Beer30 do that one as well?
  5. Curtis Traylor did his own vest. He used Teflon coated wire. I didn't reread the thread but as I recall he listed a web site where he got his wire. I had lunch with him last month and, as best I remember, he said he is going to add a temp controller. Here is the LINK to the thread.
  6. Glad you're OK Run-n-bare! (And it's a good thing you weren't! Run-n-bare that is ) I speak from experience when I say "Devcon Plastic Welder"! Here it's available at Wally World in the hardware/glues dept. If you add some fiberglass cloth in the repair it's super strong. I would lay down the epoxy, then press the cloth into it. It bonds well with the ABS. You can even rebuild tabs that way. Good luck with the bruises and the plastic.

But Lowell..................that teal goes so well with your eyes! I guess we'll be seeing you at the N GA, SE TN, W NC, Fall Foliage run ! And/or at George & Bobbies!
  9. There is also one on eBay. Click here If that doesn't work: Item number: 270174470444http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/globalAssets/rtCurve.gif
  10. A friend of mine goes to this each year and he said it is really cool seeing all the vintage bikes that show up. It's also supposed to be some really great racing! He said I should take my truck out there. He said it would fit in well! Thought about it but I'm not sure if I will.
  11. Hey Lew, now you know what it's like to be afflicted with that medical disorder that a lot of us seem to have: MBD..................Multiple Bike Disorder!
  12. As our friends down under say "No worries Mate!" I'm in no rush either. Hadn't heard anything for a while and I was just curious. Your doing a great service.
  13. Sounds like it's time for an Iron Butt ride! ENJOY!!!
  14. Sorry Lewis, but I told George and Bobbie months ago that I'd come to their M&E. That was before they had picked a date. I saw your Memphis post before you had picked a date and before I saw that they had a date. I wish I could do both! Have a good safe trip!
  15. When I got my 86, it had Venoms on it and I was elated because I had them on the Intruder. But the Venture got the wobbles decelerating in the corners and running at speed. when I went to Dunlops and fixed a few things, I thought I had it dialed in. Heck, I even kept up with muffinman! Then I went back to the Avons. I couldn't run over 75 cause it would "wander" and if there were trucks around it was all over the place. Then I changed the rear tire to a Dunlop with the Avon on the front. Now I could run up to 85 before it started to wander. Then, before my cross counttry trip, I put a 404 on the front. I've had it over 100 mph without the wobbles. That tells me a lot! (See the picture below, 95 and I can be messing with a camera!) I kept the Avon front because it has some mileage left in it, but now I'm not sure that I'll put it back on. I hope that helps, Cutty. No Avons on a 1st gen!
  16. Hey Redneck! It's nice of you to compliment hipshot on having the brains and good taste to keep his 1st gen!
  17. Every time I've tried to get one over the last two years I've been told they are "back ordered" til sometime 6 or7 months out. I just buy the 404 (or is ours the 402?) and I'm pretty happy with it. Good mileage and nice stickiness! I have about 10K on the current set I put on in early August and I think I'll get a couple more out of them. And I'm back to the E3 on the back too, after two tries on the Venom. Love the Venom on my Intruder...Hate them on the Venture (86).
  18. I'm really happy for ya, Dan! And don't worry about what Redneck says, he's just jealous! Besides, we won't be able to hear his comments about 1st gens..........as we leave him in the dust!
  19. Hey, with all the excitement about my new truck, I forgat to mention that I got a "new" bike too! Sorry about that first picture, I was a little busy! (Hey Jeff, I left you 100+!)
  20. Yeah, it's 3 years older than me and I think it's in better shape too!!!
  21. I knew I was going to get in trouble!!! I blame this here dag-burned internety thing! (Oh yeah, and sprint!) It's nice to know I'm loved!
  22. 7,910 miles around this great country and I am home! Well, I was home for two nights and then did another three day, two night 600+mile trip back to the Wheels Through Time Museum with a couple of friends. In fact, I got to spend an hour walking around the museum with the owners son and got some really incredible info and stories! Anyone that gets the opportunity to get to this museum should! Whew!!! Great trip, and I met a few of the VR.O family. Granted, I'm no LAPryor, but I spent one night with Eck in Huntsville Al, and one night with Gibvel in Loveland Co, then I had to back out on an offer from Utadventure in Salt Lake City Ut because we got behind schedule (sorry Dave, I really wanted to get there!), but I did get to meet with Ctrayler in Mtn Home Ar as I was passing through. (Thanks for the lunch Curtis!) Long story short...My National Park Pass paid for itself! I shipped home some great Hatch green chilies from Taos NM, and with a couple of friends, I did the Badlands in SD, Mt Rushmore, the Crazy Horse memorial (although that isn't a national park; they won't accept gov. money!), Little Big Horn, Yellowstone (3 times, back and forth) Glacier and the Tetons. But there sure is a lot of FLAT land in the middle of this counrty! But I guess one of the biggest things of the trip was while I was in Ks. After 7000 miles of this 8000 mile trip I spent a week in Kansas. Across the street from where I was staying was a 1950, 5 window GMC truck for sale. I tried for a week to talk myself out of it. Didn't work! I made the last 1000 miles driving 47 miles an hour with the Venture in the back of my bran-used truck! It was kind of a drag not finishing the trip on the bike, but it was worth it to bring this Black Jewel home with me! The truck has a new 1967 motor, but it is pretty much original. It probably won't stay that way. As time and money permit, I'd like to put a 350 in it and maybe a 4 wheel drive chassis under it. I'm gonna attach a few pics of the truck here and, if I can figure it out, I'll post some pics of the trip in photobucket. (I did post a few trip pics in this thread) Wow, what trip!!!
