seriously considering a Valkyrie Interstae
eazyduzzit replied to casabroker's topic in General Tech Talk
I think it would be a great bike. I would love to ride one, and I like the look. Have you found one or just thinking about looking? -
I made it home okay, but my name isn't Aarrrrggh.

I looked up the colorrite numbers, but my local paint store couldn't use them.
-
Does anybody have the paint code for a black and gray 05 RSTD? The gray is what I need.

I'm getting seasick!

I love my iphone. I may go days without talking on it, but I use it all the time for internet access, camera, notepad, reminder alarms, GPS, music, TV, calculator etc. it would take me all day to tell what all it does. I don't even know why they call it a phone. I couldn't care less if I had a phone.

All I have used in mine is Rotella 15w40 dino. I have no whine to speak of. I have read on this site where others have changed to synthetic and the whine actually got worse until they changed back to regular oil. I have not personally tried synthetic because I haven't had a reason to.

I've been looking at some GWs on Craigslist. That sounds like it's a pretty good price.

Here's a picture of me on one. They were giving demo rides at the bike rally in Knoxville last month. It was the wildest ride I've ever had! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v153/eazyduzzit/329d384b.jpg

Ditto what Monty said. We've had unusually hot weather here this year, and I've ridden in traffic with no problems. 15-40 Rotella is all I've run since I've had the bike.

You've been watching American Pickers, haven't you.

Apparently it didn't happen...

On 11/15/08 let's visit Wheels Through Time...

I was there in '08, and they had signs up that they were closing that month and indicated they might be moving to Las Vegas, but something must have happened as they are still there... -
When were you in DC? My wife and I just made that trip a couple of weeks ago. We went BRP and Skyline DR also.

You can't jump start the economy like that!

Sounds like they're taking their cue from hospitals. $16 for a valve stem equals $10 for an aspirin. Good way to get rich if you can somehow get people to come back.

What year model Wing did you have? The couple of guys I've talked to were very happy with the ride and handling. I met a guy on our last trip riding a GW, and he said it was like a sport bike in the handling department. He almost made me want one.

I looked on ebay, and found a right one, but not a left. I don't really care what color. I can have it painted.

That is a pretty good description of where it's cracked. Does anyone know what causes it?

My lower left fairing mysteriously got cracked. I came out to the garage one morning and there it was. Does anyone here have one at a reasonable price?

OK, did you get a tire? You gotta tell the whole story. -
Who needs a danged ol gall bladder anyway!

Anytime I have a medical procedure done, I feel a sharp pain in the wallet. Good luck with everything. -
On the interstate I usually get 42. Around town high 30s.

I didn't mean to start an argument on the virtues of FI vs carbs. I just think Yamaha is ignoring what could be a good market for them. If they would upgrade the Venture, there are lots of us who prefer the cruiser look, but want the goodies found on a touring bike. My wife and I both like the looks of a venture more than the looks of a GW or a Harley, but mammy just slaps some flame decals on and say "there's yer new model". It seems like an insult to me.

I have to agree. Everywhere you turn you see that batwing fairing coming at you. I'm a long way from making up my mind what I want. I do know that after a few long trips this year I would like to own a full touring bike. I have friends with Ventures and Harleys, and both swear their bikes are 10 times more comfortable than the other bikes. On our trip to DC a couple of weeks ago we met a GW rider on the Blue Ridge PKWY. We asked him to snap a picture of us with my bike. As soon as he walked over and saw my bike he said "It's my bike!" he had just traded his RSTD in on Goldwing. I told him I was wanting a bike with radio/fairing and trunk and more comfortable seats, and he proceeded to tell me how much he loved his GW. He said if you rode one you wouldn't have anything else, and went on and on and on. He was a very likable fellow. I have ridden a Venture and a few Harleys, but I still haven't rode a Goldwing. I like Ventures and have become addicted to this site, but I don't like that they make no improvements from year to year. Every year folks on this forum speculate on what the new year will bring, and every year the new one comes out with a cassette player and 4 carburetors. If it weren't for that I would have my decision made. I didn't mean for this post to be so long, but I've been thinking about this for a while. There are things I don't like about the Ultra too. It's air cooled and Karen said she felt more crowded, with me being shoved back against her. I'm sure there are other bikes I should look at, but I can't stand the looks of some.
