Passing Lamps - where is the switch???
Freebird replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
They do come with a switch. Some folks mount them in various places but the most common is on the fairing. Look at the fairing, on the left side, below the handlebars. There is a 12 Volt power receptacle there and the switch is usually installed beside it. If it is the switch that came with the lights, it will be a rubber covered push button type switch. -
They are not actually added to the members list until they confirm the registration email.

06 Tour Deluxe Vibratons
Freebird replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Watch your mouth...it is NOT a v-twin. It is a v-4. That being said, I would certainly start with a good carb sync. Pretty common that they are not done perfectly from the factory and often not from the dealers. It's easy to do. Easy to learn if you have never done it before. You will need a carb sync tool to do it though. Most of us here are partial to the Carbtune II. http://www.carbtune.com -

I found that the easiest way is to pick up a set of ball end allen wrenches.- 57 replies

This is one that I can add....wear the proper footwear. This kind of goes along with number 13. You can't put your left foot down if your shoe laces are wrapped around the shift peg. Don't ask how I know.

RSV Electrical Capacity Info
Freebird replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I received the following reply to my email to Rick's Stators. Maybe there is hope. I'll let you know more after I talk to him on the phone. How much additional capacity to you guys think we need? It will be limited of course by the number of windings and etc. that they can fit. Here is the response: Dear Don, Thank you for the e-mail. I spoke with Rick about it and he asked me to get a good contact phone number from you so that he can give you a call. He did some preliminary research, but he wanted to talk to you as well on this stator. Please let me know the best number to reach you at and what times are best. Thanks, Amanda Amanda Shaw Marketing & PR Administrator Rick's Motorsport Electrics -
Very good write-up. I'll leave it here for a couple of days and then move it to the tech library. Thanks for taking the time.

Freebird Centerstand Installation
Freebird replied to Freebird's topic in Suspension, Tires, Handlebars, Etc.
Yes...a little bit but nothing to cause any problems. Just put the centerstand up first. The side stand will touch and ride on it but not noticeable. The only way I became aware of it was one time I pulled the bike off the centerstand then when I started to put the sidestand down, I felt the centerstand move a bit. -
You can also go directly to the Sirius site to see all the units that they offer. I have XM and from looking, it seems that though they both offer XM with MP3 built in, they just don't have the storage capacity yet that I would like to see. http://shop.sirius.com/edealinv/servlet/ExecMacro?nurl=control/CategoryHome.vm&ctl_nbr=2640&allradios=Y

RSV Electrical Capacity Info
Freebird replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A company named Rick's has been specializing in motorsport stators for some time now. I've just sent him an email asking what the possibilities are of him building a high output stator for our bikes. I'll let you know what I hear back from him. Here is the web site. http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/index.php -
I don't know about the ones on Ebay but I have the one that Carbon built and it is excellent quality. Great workmanship and looks to be a bit heavier material. Not sure about that though.

I agree about the Odyssey. I've had mine for almost 4 years I think. Great battery. Also recommend a battery tender. Keep it topped off through the winter and it will last a lot longer.

Yes....there is no reason to cut them off. I've removed several sets and never had to cut them. I just use a very thin bladed screwdriver between the rubber and the bar. Just work it all the way around then pull them off.

I just added this article from Pegscraper. It is also linked from the tech library. The biggest complaint about the orginal Royal Stars was the lack of power. This does not look to be a cheap solution but the Dyno results show that it is a GREAT solution. If you own an original Royal Star and really want to release the inner beast, this is the solution. http://www.venturerider.org/carbswap/

Fantastic article submitted by Lynn Nicholls. Lack of power was the main complaint about the original Royal Star and according to the Dyno tests...this certainly solves that problem. http://www.venturerider.org/carbswap/

I often get emails from new members asking how to start a new topic. Even the terminology can be confusing for folks who have never participated in a discussion forum before. It is typically called a new "Thread" but that means new "conversation", "topic", "discussion", etc. So...to start a new thread just choose the area that you want to post to. Examples are "Watering Hole", "General Tech Talk", etc. Click on that topic area and you will see the list of current "threads". At the upper left, just above the list of threads is a blue button that says "New Threads". Click that button and you are on your way. Don

Now that sounds cool. Does it have an amp built in also? And the pictures and instructions are where?

The URL way is only if you are posting a link to a picture hosted elsewhere. Now if you click on the paper clip...it opens a window just like the "Manage Files" button. Don- 15 replies
