  1. Sorry, I don't know anything about those specific mufflers. At one time I had Samson's on my '99 with the turnout tips. They were VERY loud. They used a permanent baffle that was really nothing more than a steel screen. No packing of any kind and the baffle was not removable to be packed. The ones you are looking at may be different though. Just looked them up online and they appear to be similar to what I had just with different ends. The Fishtails may have a different sound but I'm thinking they are still going to be loud. One-piece, 3 in. diameter mufflers feature free flowing, low restriction, non-removable baffles, high quality chrome plating and heavy-duty slotted channel brackets. The non-removable baffles tells me that they are indeed going to the the permanent steel baffles and will be loud.
  2. For Thanksgiving day, we usually cook a Amish raised turkey of about 20 pounds. When Eileen went to get the turkey this year, they were sold out of the larger birds so she bought two 12 pounders. We decided to cook one in the oven and that I would deep fry the other. They both looked very good but we didn't have that many people for Thanksgiving dinner so put the one that I fried on the table and that ended up being enough. It was completely gone but we never cut the second one. Yesterday was going to be a day of relaxation and then leftovers which I actually enjoy more than the actual Thanksgiving day dinner. Eileen got the second turkey out and set it on the counter. About thirty minutes later, I came down from the bedroom where I had been watching a movie with the intentions of carving the turkey and preparing a big plate of turkey, dressing, all the trimmings. NOTHING BUT FOIL on the counter. The turkey was GONE. The only thing left was a piece of foil on the counter, a piece of foil on the floor and a very content looking 80 lb. dog laying in on the rug and wagging her tail. She is usually very well behave and had NEVER gotten anything off the counter before but I guess a large roasted turkey was just more than she could resist. We have a doggy door and I'm sure that she took it outside to eat because there was no mess at all on the floor. No grease, no juice, nothing. She cleaned up after herself very well. So if one of you could send me just a single turkey sandwich...I would gladly pay you Tuesday for a turkey burger today.
  3. I agree. There are some people who really feel that they work but these things have been tested many times and the results have always been the same, they do NOTHING to protect you.
  4. I carry my 15" in the trunk and it seems about perfect for me. I really don't care the the smaller netbooks nor the Ipad type devices.
  5. We cooked two 12 pounders this year. One the conventional way in the oven and the other I deep fried. I made my own marinade to inject it with. Everybody thought it was great but I wasn't crazy about it. I know what I didn't like and will modify it next time. As for pre-cooked turkeys...or any turkey for that matter. My all time favorite is still the Greenberg Turkey. They are injected and smoked in Tyler, TX and they are still the best turkey I have ever eaten. Haven't had one in a few years, may order one for Christmas. http://www.gobblegobble.com/
  6. Add me to that list also....oh how I hated that Mac.
  7. My legs are NOT deformed...well...not too badly...they are just getting OLD. Now leave me alone...I've got a turkey to fry.
  8. I'm thankful for many things. I could write a book here about all that I have to be thankful for but I'll spare you all because to be honest, much of it would be the same things that you are all thankful for. So, to keep it relevant to VentureRider.org, I'll just say that I'm thankful to each and every single one of you. Even you troublemakers who may not see things 100% the same way that I do, you are still an important and loved part of the family here and if we all agreed on everything, it would get pretty mundane around here. So here's wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you all get to eat so much that you have to be rolled to bed. Let's also remember those in the world who have little to eat and say a special prayer for them and for our men and women in uniform who are serving and away from their families to make this day possible for all of us.
  9. He said: FIRST GEN VENTURES ARE FOR GIRLS!
  10. I sent him an email last night and told him to check his messages. Being a holiday week, he may be out of town, away from the computer, etc. Hopefully he will get my email and check in soon. I did this after seeing a few responses in the classifieds. I bought a couple of things from him and got them two days later. He is normally very responsive and that's why I think that he must be away.
  11. Now there you go....wrong again.
  12. No, sarcasm is not banned. Please feel free to continue. Sorry I mentioned it.
  13. Yes you can. No problem at all. Most people would recommend that the car not be running though.
  14. I've never seen nor tried one of those but I don't see why it wouldn't be just fine. The thing is, for not a lot more than that you can pick up a GPS that has the same functionality and have the music and directions.
  15. I bought an old John Deere about 2 or 3 years ago. It is an early 70's model with a single stage snow blower on the front. I was worried that it wouldn't do the job but it's a real work horse. It has a single cylinder 8HP Kohler cast iron engine and has never missed a beat. I had never owned a snow blower and was worried that the single stage would be plugging up all the time but it works great.
  16. Well said. Just to clarify one small point though. Private messages and emails sent to each other here are NOT read nor censored in any way. If you send an email to another member through the email function of this site, it does user the VentureRider server but is not monitored in any way. The only way that I would get involved here in private messages and/or emails would be if one member claimed that they were being harassed by another. Your email address is never made public here unless you post it in a thread or send it to somebody.
  17. I don't think that anything will. That's why they are going back to aluminum tips without the chrome.
  18. Somebody posted the other day that Bub was going back to the non-plated aluminum end caps as they used when they first introduced these mufflers. I think that would be a good decision on their part. They went to chrome because that's what people kept asking for but it was obviously not a good decision.
  19. Well, I'm not going to get into a public argument about it here. This is a subject that has been discussed here and voted on by the members more than once. We have few rules and the ones that we do have are made very clear before anybody has to decide if they want to officially join or not. I think that the rules we have in place are most acceptable to the majority here and that is the best we can do.
  20. I have bought from them several times and have been by their place a couple of times. They have always been very nice to me. I agree that they seldom answer emails though and they have stated that in their ads. They have been great the few times that I have called them and/or stopped by.
  21. I'm sensing a little sarcasm here. Will stop at that for now.
  22. and the is a reason why you would not post it in the WTB section of the classifieds and then a link in the new area if you felt that enough didn't see it?
  23. It is absolutely a scam and not that much different from all the others out there. She never said that you wouldn't have to put the money up...she said that she would not HAVE the money. That simply means that she'll want you to put it into an escrow account and it will for SURE be a fake one. She will have your money immediately and you'll have nothing but a lighter wallet.
  24. Here is a CORRECTED procedure for syncing the carbs. As V7Goose says, the manual is wrong and will really mess you up. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258
  25. Done. Added under vehicles category.
