  1. According to an episode of Mythbusters last year where they tested I think ALL of them, not a single one worked at all.
  2. Webbike World has posted their annual products of the year page. Nothing that really excites me but maybe of interest to some. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycles/best-motorcycle-products-2010.htm
  3. Agreed..a 9 to 10 year old battery is living on borrowed time. It may last a while longer but personally, I would have some jumper cables stored in the car if I were going to stay with it.
  4. If you haven't been elsewhere, you've been nowhere.
  5. I agree. I have mine hooked to the battery posts also. Now this is the pigtail that comes with the battery tender and stays on the bike so once you have it installed, there is no increased danger of a spark. Like Saddlebum said, hooking the negative to a ground away from the battery is an old safety measure that is recommended if you are using jumper cables to start a car or something. It is a good idea in that case but not really necessary when installing the battery tender pigtail. I think going directly to the battery posts is better in this case. I also think that the danger of the gases and a spark causing an explosion is not nearly as great with all these new sealed batteries as it was with the old lead acid batteries that had the removable fill caps.
  6. Yea, we have done oil changes before. It's not a problem. There is the Walmart and just across the street from that is an Autozone. Unless you use some special oil, you should be able to get it. The Autozone usually has Mobil One for motorcycles also.
  7. Pretty cool but can you dance to it?
  8. Yea, it's all in good fun. You just never know what is next with SOME of these folks.
  9. Yea....I think that girl was out to HURT me....I'm thinking you may have talked to her right before she attacked.
  10. Very cool...I have seen the commercial where she waves at the end. Only saw it was but it was neat to see and know that it was one of our own.
  11. I think they look good but would not work at all for me. I like highway pegs so that I can stretch out my long legs. It looks like those would allow you to raise your feet a bit and perhaps just a little extension for those with shorter inseams but for those with long legs, would be very uncomfortable. I still think that the KuryAkyn's with the offsets are the best choice. For those with long legs, you can rotate them forward and stretch out...for those with shorter inseams, you can rotate them back and get close to the same as those are.
  12. Well I'm here and last week I as there and the week before that, I was elsewhere and all those place had one thing in common.....SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW....and I'm SICK of SNOW. It's snowing here, it's snowing where I'm going and it's snowing at home...and it just won't stop.....it just won't. It SNOWS and SNOWS and SNOWS and SNOWS....... gotta go now....have to rake the snow off my car so that I can drive down the slick snow covered roads to get to customers with sidewalks all covered in SNOW so that I can walk through it and get my shoes and socks all wet and......................... Have I mentioned that I am sick of the SNOW?
  13. Has anybody checked with MiCarl? He had some of these tools made up and was selling them very reasonably. Don't know if he still has any or not though.
  14. Folks, I'm figuring out that this GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome) is a real problem. I'm finding myself searching Craigslist in every new city that I happen to be in. I bought the Washburn last week in Dayton, OH. It's a really nice guitar but just doesn't quite do it for me. So, I now have it for sale on Craigslist. Then I got to Indianapolis today and ran across another guitar that I really do like. It's NOT a high end guitar but WOW....it plays fantastic and I love the style. It's basically a hollow body in a Telecaster style. I've been playing it all evening here in my hotel room and this one is a keeper. Not that I wouldn't possibly add another one at some point....not soon...I don't think.
  15. I think she's great. I was also able to leave a comment so it seemed to be working for me.
  16. No way in a million years would I do that. Heck...I got nervous just watching it.
  17. I may be wrong but I'm afraid you aren't going to get a lot of help with this one. I haven't heard of anybody who has changed the jets due to altitude issues. Maybe somebody has though, we'll see. I've ridden the highest peaks in Colorado and never felt that I needed any carb adjustments. Maybe if I lived there and rode at those elevations all the time I would notice something.
  18. According to their website, their 17.5" is stock height. They have one shorter and one taller.
  19. Please welcome F4 Customs Windshields as our newest supporting vendor. Please check this thread for more details. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=546337#post546337
  20. I think it would be great to jam a little one night at Maintenance Day. Somebody will have to lead it as I'm strictly a beginner and will just play along with the others. I hope that any of you who play, will think about bringing your guitars, dulcimers, banjos, whatever. I usually have about 3 guitars around so if you can't bring your own, you are welcome to use one of mine.
  21. I agree. The cherries are supposed to help but just didn't do it for me. Mine finally got bad enough that I finally went to the doctor. I had gone from being a once a year thing to an almost all the time thing. The doctor gave me a prescription for a pain pill, Indomethacin, to take when it flared up but it was happening too often and I didn't want to take pain pills all the time. He finally put me on Allopurinol and it has done the trick for me. It prevents the flareups instead of treating the pain. It is a daily thing though and likely will be forever. It's well worth it though.
  22. Well, I added another guitar to my collection this week. Ran into a deal on Craigslist. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for but the review are very good on it and I like the natural maple finish. I'll try it for a while and see how it works out. It was cheap enough that I can get my money out of it if I decide I don't like it. Washburn HB30
  23. Good luck to you Steve. I used to think that we had an awful lot of old folks here but the truth is, we just have a lot of bionic men.
  24. LOL....to be honest, I didn't even notice the pills but it appears to be indicating that there is a small storage space in the chock knob. I guess.
  25. They are not yet on their website. If you click the area at the top of the picture though, it will expand to full size so that you can read it. The site is http://www.starparts.org
