I honestly think that the wider shield makes more difference that the higher one. I can't confirm that though because I went taller and wider long ago.

StarFan/Jonas needs help - Greetings from Iceland
Freebird replied to StarFan's topic in Watering Hole
LOL....now that hurts. Now I'm going to have to take off work so that I can keep my eye on you. Although, I'm thinking that Greta will be keeping her eyes on you too. By the way, you know that I would be happy to store the bike for you if you need me to. Heck...I could just sell mine since I would have yours here to ride. -
The main reason for this thread is for us to try and determine how much ice cream will be needed. 10 gallons, 15, 20? Please do not consider Big Tom in your calculations...we just can't afford that much ice cream. He will just have to be monitored.

StarFan/Jonas needs help - Greetings from Iceland
Freebird replied to StarFan's topic in Watering Hole
Jonas, I am sorry that you will not be here for Maintenance Day but of course, I already knew that. It goes without saying though that there is a room waiting at our home for you whenever you get through here. We look forward to seeing you again and meeting your wife. For any of you that may be on their route, you will find Jonas to be a very good house guest. He is pretty much potty trained and everything. Don -
As for Hopnel, they sold out a few years ago and I think discontinued the bibs for the RSV. Don't know why. I want to make some bibs for the top of my saddlebags that match my Hopnel tank and trunk bibs. I ordered some vinyl last week that I HOPE is a close match. If it is, then I just have to find the smooth vinyl and braid trim to do the edges.

Need major PRAYERS for Marcie
Freebird replied to Crash's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Really sorry to hear the bad news Randy. You have both been through way too much over the past few years. We will be praying for a successful outcome and please let Marcie know that we care. -
Comparing the Strato/Roadliner AND a Vulcan 2000
Freebird replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in General Tech Talk
Just to clarify that before somebody asks. The ceramic coating has been used on the RoadStar ever since they came out. I didn't know for sure about the Stratoliner but they the RSV does not have the ceramic coated cylinders to my knowledge. -
Center Punch on frame
Freebird replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I may very well be wrong but I think that the other punch mark, the one that you might find near the serial number on the engine case, designated that the stator oil cooling modification had been done. -
Yea...maybe...but I'll listen to anybody who is wearing a tight fitting mini skirt. Listen...smile...nod...look....

Dang it Owl...I KNOW that you know better. Do you think that even mentioning XXXXX name is not going to sent this to the political dungeon?

Looking for better handleing
Freebird replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If you are wanting a 6th gear already, stay away from the VMAX rear. I have it on my '99 and love it but I NEVER wanted a higher gear than what it already has. The VMAX rear is going to raise your RPMS by about 500 through the entire range. -
Yes, there is a fuse panel inside the right lower cowling. I don't remember for sure but I THINK there is an audio fuse in that one.

HEY...thank you my friend. You know that is one of my favorite drinks....especially in coffee. So to you...hope you have a great one.

Shifter shaft wearing on crankcase?
Freebird replied to Goat Roper's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This is absolutely the first I have heard of this and I would be very skeptical. What year is the bike and how many miles? -
They can't be properly charged with a battery tender but they can certainly be maintained with one. There is some misinformation out there about this issue but the fact is, they can be maintained with a regular battery tender.

It truly matters because over time, you could damage your CB unit and they are NOT cheap.

I am now closing this thread. It has quickly turned into political discussion. I should have just deleted it long ago.

Well....it really depends on the weather...I don't want to get cold.

That's great news. I know that everybody was very happy with his work last year. I had left him a message after I set the date but had not heard back from him. Thank you for following up on this.

Actually, the entire subject has now been beat to death. At this point, any time somebody posts that they don't mind being stopped, they are met with the same response about giving up rights. Nothing new is being said. This thread has really passed any point of being informative or educational.

If it's the end tab that slides between the inner and outer fairing them this won't help. If it's one of the alignment tabs, here is a fix. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=516 If it is the long end tabs that the bolt goes through, then I would think that you could repair it if you take a piece of ABS and cut it to the right size and then glue it on with some ABS cement.

Well mine did pretty well but I hooked it to an external antenna and then an external headset with a VOX microphone.

I'm running Windows XP with Firefox 4. That site worked fine. I also tried it with IE8 and it worked fine also. So it seems to be OK with XP and IE8 or Firefox.

Very cool....that is my kind of place.

I see that ac and heat are an option but you said that price is for one like you saw so you probably added it. That is honestly not a bad price for a low production vehicle. Certainly not within my budget but really not bad.
