  1. Very nice. Hope you come to Maintenance Day so I can try it out.
  2. Yep, that is the place to do it. Now I'm not crazy about those splicing connectors but a lot of people use them with no problems. I assume that you will use some type of pigtail like a trailer wiring connector so that you can unplug it if and when you want to. I would certainly recommend it.
  3. Just to make sure it is clear, LOWER fairing, beside your left foot.
  4. No, you have to look at how it is configured. 1/4" shorter actually raises the rear of the bike. Not just 1/4" though. The 1/4" shorter links raise the rear of the bike almost an inch.
  5. You are welcome. I hope it all works out for you.
  6. I just sent him an email.
  7. There is very little difference. You will see it when you remove the stock links and lay them on the new ones. The new ones will only be about 1/4" shorter than the stock links. When I say 1/4" shorter, I'm talking about center to center between the holes.
  8. I bought the 17KW for a specific business reason. I was putting in a aquaculture system to raise yellow perch as a side business. It was essential that tank heaters, filtration, heat and etc. did NOT go down for more than about an hour or thousands of dollars worth of fish would be dead. Once I finally determined that it just wasn't going to work out, I no longer had a use for it. I finally sold it a few months ago. It was actually the propane costs of heating the water, building, running the generator and etc. that caused me to scrap the entire project. Our power has been very reliable and I don't even have a backup generator of any kind now. There has been one time in 12 years that I could have used one. If I ever get another one, it will indeed be a smaller gasoline unit to keep a few lights and a couple of emergency space heaters on.
  9. Actually, 8 is 3 or 4 years old now. IE9 is the current browser if your system supports it. 10 is not too far away.
  10. Yours must have been different than mine. I had a Generac 17 KW propane unit. It came with the transfer switch and distribution box. I am not a licensed electrical contractor but I do have a lot of electrical experience. Installation was very simple for me and I did not have to get into the meter at all. All connections were between my original distribution panel and the standby panel.
  11. I guess it is just what you get used to. I download Maxthon and tried it for maybe 5 minutes and deleted it. I had never used it before and according to the link, was Version 3. I admit that I probably didn't give it enough of a chance but it just wasn't doing it for me. I just really like Firefox and have had no issues with it. I've got the latest version of IE installed as well as Chrome but always end up going back to Firefox.
  12. That's what I was thinking Eddie. He says that almost everything in his house uses Propane so I'm assuming that he doesn't have natural gas. I can tell you, as high as Propane is, it is going to cost you a BUNDLE to run that thing. I personally think that you are overreaching. In my opinion, the purpose of a backup generator is to run the most essential items. Most don't come with enough circuits to do everything that you are mentioning. I had a 17KW propane fueled backup generator that I installed for backup power for a project that I was working on in the greenhouse. I quickly realized that I was NOT going to be able to afford to run it for very long. Installation wasn't a big deal.
  13. I've flown into Hong Kong many times. The old airport was a bit hairy but the new one isn't bad at all. I tell you, one of my least favorites is San Diego. Steep descent due to the high rise buildings on the approach. Once you touch down, they are heavy on the back thrusters and brakes. I was sitting by a retired commercial pilot one trip and he told me that the pilot's association consider San Diego the worse airport in the United States to fly into. He said that there is really no safe way to land there.
  14. I don't remeimber for sure either but I THINK it has a plug. I don't know what they are asking for the parts but you may find one off a wrecked bike. This has much more than you need but you could get the parts from it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-XVZ1300-REAR-SPEAKERS-/130601875909?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e687a79c5
  15. Are you SURE you got no response to your question about the handlebars? Here is your original post and what looks like a pretty good answer. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66522 Here is your post about the jack and there was an answer to it also. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66601
  16. You are apparently more of an expert than I am. I didn't know you could change out the anodes. I know that they should be flushed a couple of times a year. This one hasn't been flushed since....well....this one has NEVER been flushed. I'm thinking that KNOWING what to do but never actually DOING it may have contributed to this little issue.
  17. Yes, I still drive the mini van and also have a small trailer. I will certainly be installing it myself so if you can save me some bucks, that would be GREAT. There is no rush, I have this one flushed out pretty well for now. I know it won't be long though.
  18. You folks must live in the sticks. I have my water delivered HOT...just not hot enough so that I why I need a hot water heater. OK....I just made all of that up but I didn't know how else to cover my error. I KNEW that some folks would recommend a tankless or demand type heater. I tried to prevent it by stating in my first post that there is NOT an electric heater that is really suitable for replacing an 80 GPM tank. Didn't work though. My house is almost all electric. The only thing that runs on propane is the emergency heat when it is too cold for the heat pump to work. I really hate propane. If I could get natural gas, I would consider changing over to a gas heater but I'm not interested in installing one that runs on propane.
  19. Looks like it is getting close to time to replace the hot water heater. It is still heating just fine but apparently is full of mineral deposits, rust, etc. My wife notice last weekend that the hot water was muddy looking. I've lost count of how many times I've drained and flushed and drained and flushed and drained and flushed. It take forever even though I replace the drain valve with a straight through ball valve. Even with the ball valve installed and the vent opened, it takes a long time to flush. I've actually got it running fairly clear now but still no perfect and I think I will need to replace it soon. It is about 17 years old. This is an 80 gallon AO Smith electric heater. I've been looking around and have somewhat narrowed it down to a Whirlpool 80 gallon and a GE 80 gallon. The Whirlpool has dual 4500 watt elements and a 12 year warranty. Top and bottom elements are stainless steel. The GE has dual 5500 watt elements but only the top one is stainless steel for some reason. They both have 12 year warranties. All that I have looked at have 4500 watt elements except for the GE. The Whirlpool is $619.00 and the GE is $729.00. I'm leaning towards the Whirlpool even though the GE has higher wattage elements. I've never had a problem with running out of hot water so really don't know that the bigger elements are a big deal. They both have high energy factors, about 92 I think. A tankless heater is not an option for me. There just aren't any electric tankless heaters that are equivalent to an 80 gallon tank. The closest I have found was rated about the same as a 40 gallon tank. So, I KNOW we have people here who are experts in just about anything that we have questions about. What say you?
  20. Please let her know that she, you and the entire family will be in our prayers.
  21. Tightening the gas cap until it clicks is important. I had a LOT of customers come in a few years ago when I worked for a local Chevrolet/Olds dealership. On newer cars, the problem 99% of the time was that they were not tightening the gas cap until it started clicking. I always turning it until it clicked a few times, maybe another 1/4 turn or so just to be sure. Now last winter my company car, a 2007 Dodge Caravan, had the check engine light on. It went off a couple of times but stayed on most of the time through the winter. When spring came and it warmed up outside, it went off and has not come on since. I don't know if it had anything to do with winter or if it was just a coincidence that it cleared up. I thought at the time that it may have had something to do with the re-formulated winter gas but I don't know. I never did get the codes read.
  22. Have you re-jetted? You can typically change the mufflers without needing to re-jet but once you installed that big air kit, you changed the entire game. I'm almost 100% sure that if you want to run the big air kit and the free flowing mufflers, you are going to need to change those jets. Oops...I read it again and see that you removed the air kit. Jetting is not likely your problem unless the air intake has been modified in some way or another. If you have done anything to increase the air flow, that is still the first place I would start. Also check to make sure that there were no leaks created when they re-installed the stock air box and filters.
  23. I think the members map went away long ago. The site that was being used was discontinued and we never started another one.
  24. I know that the dry ice method will work on automobiles and that is basically the same thing that you are talking about. I've heard that it is usually not effective on motorcycles though because the steel is a much heavier gauge. I certainly don't think you would lose anything by trying it but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  25. Look under "tools", "options" and the "privacy" tab. Make sure that "remember history" is checked.
