  1. In most cases it is not even intentionally being a thief. Sometimes the pumps accuracy slips. This is normal and since most are only required to check once a year no one would really notice unless the pump was way off.
  2. While the speedohealer is a cool little gadget, I prefer to keep my inaccurate speedometer. I look at as as ticket insurance. As long as I travel at the posted speed I know that I will always be a few mph under and safe from tickets.

Sure, tags are basically keywords that you can add to a post to make it easier to find when searching for a post on certain subjects. All the real blogs and forums use tags. Those geeks (like me) among us that read slashdot and other such sites know all about tags.
  4. (IANAL) A settlement is by definition a resolution and therefore the end of the liabilities. Once both parties agree on a settlement there is no other action that can be taken unless that action is defined in the settlement terms. There are cases and case law that can invalidate a settlement if it can be proven that one of the parties entered into the settlement on false terms.
  5. But to be real accurate you need a calibrated container to pump the gas into so you can be sure you actually got the ten gallons the pumps claims you got. There's more than one way the pump can be incorrect. Trust me on that I grew up in my Dad's gas station. We had to have our pumps calibrated all the time. Plus we had to keep daily log of all the gas pumped and balance that to the amount of gas we bought from our supplier. Dad had stacks of note books filed with this data. It protected us from fines and it protected us from having a pump pump too much gas.
  6. Here in MN the pumps are regularly tested and certified. If you have a suspicion that a pump is off all you have to do is report it to the state and they will send someone out to test the pump. If you really want to read about the gas and food prices you should read what I wrote about it. http://www.wilgeno.com Whether you like what I wrote of not don't complain about it on here. Don likes to keep the politics to a minimum.
  7. I'm still working on the part.
  8. The Diamond R Passenger pegs moves your ladies foot position higher and a little forward. If she's a tall long legged lady she may not like them much. We put them on my RSV and my wife hated them. She needs to be able to stretch out a bit. A little lower and forward. So, it depends on your lady. However, they are darn good pegs. High quality and heavy. Barons has a Passenger High boards replacement that is supposed to move the feet lower and forward. :mo money: I am going to have to buy them this year and give them a try.
  9. I had one of those peg me in the center of my face shield the first time I rode a motorcycle. I rung my bell and convinced me to always wear a full face helmet.
  10. I think Don's needs a years supply of beer.
  11. 10% ethanol is just fine for the RSV. The only issue to think about is that due to the nature of ethanol it absorbs water more readily. This can have a negative effect on your fuel system if the bike sites for more than a few weeks. To help counter this I run Seafoam a few times a year to help keep the fuel system clean and fresh. You will experience lower gas millage be cause ethanol is a fuel contaminate and burns at a lower BTU therefore producing less work (aka horse power) per unit of fuel. There is no way around this. Bring extra $$ to pay for the extra gas burned.
  12. We know where it is - Hwy 52 is our home turf when we ride. If we start running late I'll jingle a phone. I know Owl's cell #.
  13. 7pm is most likely the earliest we'd get there. I'll have to escape work a little earlier than normal. Saturday is a no go for us.
  14. We can be there no problem. Ron? BlackOwl? what do you think? Has anyone seen BlackOwl lately? Someone go get him out of hibernation. Just tell him winter is over. (yeah, I know we just had snow, but tell him anyways!)
  15. Freebird: We've done the pig roast for two years now at Venture in the Pines in Northern MN. The cooking part is easy, once on the heat and rotating, don't fuss with it. Oh, and Tie it up good so it don't flop around. There will be plenty of other cooking needs to tend to while the pigs on. Some tips: Have a dedicated cook to deal with the pig and other cooking items. Others usually help out, but you need one person who does nothing else but cook. The pig costs us about $100-150? BlackOwl knows the exact price. Get money up front unless you plan to just be that generous. It takes a good 8-10 hours to cook on a hot cooker. Even longer to slow cook on a 225º degree cooker/smoker Have people show up with sides. Don't let anyone leave before the cleanup is done . 100 pounds of pig goes a long long way!Cheers and good luck. If I see ya this week we can chat more. Wil
  16. Yup, your right. We have no clue that winter is over with. :snow2: I have not been able to work on the bike since the garage is not heated and it's too darn cold for my hands to be wrenching. We even had a fresh 1" of snow fall in St. Paul Saturday morning and up by GrampaGaks (where we do the Venture in the Pines Rally) they had near a foot more of snow. Now for meeting up. Heck, Cannon Falls is a short little hop for us. We buzz down there just for the drive or it. Wil
  17. I just renewed with Progressive for this year. I pay a bit more than others, but I carry full insurance. I have no points on my driving record (knock on wood). And I just increased my coverage this year by maxing out the Person injury protection to 25k per person. Before I increased my coverage I would have paid $450 for this year. My new premium is $722/year (including an $83 discount for paying in full) for the following: Liability: Bodily Injury: $250,000 each person /$500,000 each accident Property Damage: $100,000 each accdent ------------------------------------ Un/Under Insured motorist: $250,000 each person/$500,000 each accident ------------------------------------ Medical Payments: $25,000 each person ------------------------------------ Comprehensive $125 deductible Collision $125 deductible Accessory Damage $3,000 Roadside Assistance In order to compare rates you really need to know everything above. Then even if all is the same your location changes the rates. If I lived out east my rates would be higher. If I lived in a more rural part of MN, my rates would be lower. Cheers, :mo money:
  18. Damn nice seat, I really like it.
  19. I have no clue how so many people can have such different experiences with the same tire. I ride pretty hard, hard on the gas hard on the brakes, fast in the corners. I got 12k on my 404's. Others only got 3k? How? Also, the 12k on my rear tire is just as the wear indicators not the cords. If I had not hit a road hazard and tore a chunk of rubber out of the side wall I would have a few thousand miles more. I'm buying another set of 404's.
  20. Well it really depends on the color scheme of the bike. Some colors look better with tan seats. Others are just ugly. If you plan to sell the bike in a few years, you can always pick up an other set of seats to recover and keep the stocks seats for resale.
  21. Well, in MN the daily price is mandated by law. The Liberals in our state got a wild hair and decided to mandate a minimum price that gas stations can legally sell their gas. This price is set daily by the gas terminals and all gas stations must adjust their prices accordingly.
  22. If you have to buy new then check out TechBargains.com I'm not sure how many of you tech heads know about this site. It provides great info as to who has the best deals on tons of products. http://www.techbargains.com/cheap-gps.cfm :mo money::mo money:
  23. I've run the 404 wide white walls for the past two years and I am going to put another set on this year. I have about 12k miles on them. No unusual wear. Southwest Moto Tire has them real cheap too. http://www.swmototires.com/ I'm not sure where I am going to buy mine yet. Depends on what I find in town this week.
  24. Actually, any and all online banking requires your SSN. Whether you visited your brick and mortar bank and setup your bank account or if you did it online. In addition, if your receiving payments via this service the IRS requires them to have your SSN for reporting (to the Feds) purposes. These are just the facts. I've setup online business accounts and I have had to file my SSN and TAX ID numbers with those sites. As far as no site is completely secure. This is mostly true. I'm a Sr. Web Application Programmer and I do program secure sites. You would be amazed at what we go through to secure data. Most security breaches are internal. In the end, whether you do business online or at a brick and mortar your data is stored electronically and has to be accessed by people. Businesses go though great efforts to make sure the people with access to the data are trustworthy. Most are and very few are not. Either way you face security risks. So to say that there is never a reason to have to give your SSN online is just plain wrong. It's a fact of banking and collecting payments whether it's online of not.
  25. The war we can afford. The funding of welfare for everyone including illegals we can not afford.
