  5. Just made our reservations as well for the 18th and 19th . Spoke with Laura . She sounded pretty darn Sexy , Of course all the women folk talk that way to me !!!!!!! BEER30
  6. A wad of tobacco does wonders . If that doesn't work , my spit bottle does ! A plastic bag full of plastic Airsoft pellets scares the crap out of them as well. BEER30
  7. I just put my Bra's on and keep the Pledge on the windshield. BEER30
  8. Mel , You just would have had to be there during this ordeal to understand how and what I meant I guess . You would have most likely would agreed with me if you seen or went through what I did today. I approve of any age to ride , just ride safely ! If not , stay on the porch and live or let others live another day . BEER30
  9. Go ahead , then there will be 2 SOB's in the group ! (Sexy Ole Bikers) BEER30
  10. Almost another incident today that made one smelly Biker , I bet ya ! I was in my P/U fetching BEER24/7 Birthday present when some old biker decided to pull over into my lane . Too explain it better , we were approaching a red light intersection and I was in the right lane , he had one cage in front of him in the left lane , so he figured he would get into the clear lane at which I was in . He forgot that I was on the right side of him and as his shoulder was to my left front tire . He suddenly did an aggressive swerve right and I had to lock up the brakes and also blew the horn to warn him I was there . I honestly cannot tell you that if he jumped high off the saddle or if he grew smelly substance in his britches . Needless to say I missed him or did he miss me ? So I did not score any points today to say the least , even though he did manage to get in front of me . I followed his for about 7 miles . He was weaving left to right , to the left, to the right in the oust side lane . Then he slowed down and then sped up like old timers do . I watched him carefully and decided maybe I need to get his attention to see if he was OK . We approached another intersection to stop . I rolled down my passenger side window to shout out if he was OK or was he tire . I was prepared to buy the old coot a cup of coffee if needed . But he pulled over into a gas station without answering me , so I think he realized he needed to stop . So I figured he would be OK , so I forwarded onto my Mom's to hide BEER24/7 Birthday present until Wednesday . What was pretty dang funny was that he has "GRAVE ROBBER" painted on the side of his gas tank . Go Figure !!!!! BEER30
  11. Who is Bear30 ? RiderDuke is getting quite a bit of wrench time here lately . He helped me with bleeding my clutch when I was at the Dookie-Den at the last Va M & E . Also Thanks to BugFish for bringing his vacuum bleeder over for use. It still did not fix the issue of the slipping clutch , but I think I cured that today . Today I took the clutch apart , refinished the steel plates with 400 grit emery cloth . Mic'd the fibers and nothing less than .118 ,still within tolerance . The steels were tarnished really bad , so I cross sanded them to make the shiny again . Checked for warping and still within tolerance . Re-assembled and took out on a test ride for 50 miles or so . No slippage as of yet so far . Just a few more little details to perform and we are ready for MD . BEER30
  12. Prayers sent for all ! BEER30
  13. I just love it when I pass a slow , weaving cage to find some IDIOT (notice I didn't hurt their feelings calling them STUPID) and downshift to the lowest gear possible to make my Baron's ROAR and lay down on the air horn ! Yes I get the dirty looks and the one finger salute . But hey, they sometimes get the message to pay attention . BEER30
  14. Also to add . When I was diagnosed with my hip problems , I owned horses . My Dr. stated that it was OK to ride my horses . He had no problem with the fact that I ride , he was only concerned on how I mounted them . Same here with the scoot . People should mind there own business unless they KNOW all the facts concerning that individual conditions . People have various types of conditions that deem them handicapped , some are visible , some are not in the eyes of the public . So who is the fool that barks in the silence of night ? BEER30
  15. Take a larger rubber hose like on a shop-vac. Connect to the scoots exhaust or a cage exhaust while running . Take the other end and hold over the filler tube . The carbon monoxide will push any oxygen away and prevent BOOM . I have witnessed welders fixing leaking fuel tanks full of fuel doing this when I worked in the oilfields . If you do this , make sure you are in a well ventilated area . Outside might be best . Say your prayers in advanced as well . BEER30
  16. I'll add my .02 cents . I have a disability as well . Broken right hand , Fusion L5/S1 , and Vascular Necrosis of both hips at which need to be replaced along with some Arthritis in all stated locations . My scoots seat is more comfortable than my recliner . Riding my scoot is like therapy to me . Riding my scoot lets me enjoy myself and take the care of pain away. If others do not understand this , well that's their loss and a few over the "R" rated words to go along with it . Just because I feel pain 24/7 , doesn't mean I'm going to become a porch dog . Oh did I mention I'm SPECIAL too ? Is there a in the house ? BEER30
  17. I know my key fits a few members bikes . BEER30
  18. My tobacco juice will do that too . As a prior saddlemaker/leathersmith , I want and will educate anyone whom is interested . One of my last projects when I left Alaska was working on a side saddle that was over 300 years old . A Museum peice to say the least , but still in ride-able condition . I still have my son's saddle made in Mexico that is over 25 years old . Though it is a cheap made saddle , I still break it down every year , wash , oil and saddle butter it . BEER30
  19. Neither Doc Bailey , nor Leather New or similar would I ever use . All this crap may give you the appearance that it did good , but it doesn't . Let me put this in perspective ..........Shampoo/Conditioner for your hair (if any of you old timers have any left ). Soaps are a cleanser , conditioners ....condition . Soaps have a stronger ingredient that loosens and helps remove any foreign substance such as dirt and oils for example . Conditioners need to set on the hair after it is clean to fulfill it's job . When using the combination of both soap and conditioner , you wash and then rinse in a short amount of time and the conditioners have not set long enough to do it's job. Basically washed away in the rinse . Although the cow is dead and gone , it's skin (leather) still exist . The leather still reacts in the same manner as it was still alive sorta speaking . When washing leather with soaps , the leather will open it's pores along with help with lukewarm water and expand to allow dirt and oils to be washed away. Have you noticed when you wash your hair with a better quality of shampoo (high PH) versus a cheap soap your hair feels fuller ? Unless your budget allows you or you are simply satisfied with either of the 2 , I personally would use the better to achieve better cleansing . Soaps with high alkaline will eat away linen threads . So saying I personally use a low PH and low alkaline soap such as dish washing liquid . Therefore the leather does not expand as nearly as much . When high PH soaps are used , this possibly would cause 3 effects . Either stretching the threads or having the leather cut itself (especially with nylon threads) or breaking the threads entirely. Soaps with alkaline eats away linen threads and which would possibly break or weaken. Saddle bags for example absorb a lot of dirt , road salts and other substances that break down leather . I personally would wash them in this manner . Remove from bike . Get a 5 gallon bucket of lukewarm water with Ivory or Pink Dollar store brand dish washing liquid . Dawn however is a strong cleanser , but hard to rinse away . Add just enough soap to form some suds . Add about 1/2 cup of White distilled vinegar (this extracts salt) . Take a medium to lite bristle brush . Now do not be alarmed now . Take the brush and douse it in the soapy water and begin the scrub the saddle bags . It does not harm the leather ! Use light to medium action and scrub the leather thoroughly inside and out . Don't be afraid to get the leather wet , but do not water-log it . After you cleanse the bags , rinse off with lukewarm water . Noticed I said lukewarm water ? Cold water closes the pores , Hot water allows the leather to loose it's form more as it becomes more flexible and could possibly stretch out of shape , so use lukewarm water . Now set the bags out to dry , but not out directly in the sunlight . This will cause the leather to shrink or get too stiff . Ever left your baseball glove out in the rain , then the hot sun dry it out fast ? Best to place in shade with a breeze if possible . If not set outside to dry , but indoors , place a fan out in a distance . Do not allow the air to get stagnant or mold might form . You may also have to stuff newspaper or brown paper in the bags to help keep their shape if the bags do not have stiffeners already built into them . Once they are dry , you are ready to condition . I also want to sat something about saddle soap. Saddle soap is a fine product , but you would not believe how many people do not know how to use properly . Follow the directions ! People use to harsh amount of pressure to rub in the saddle soap , causing the dirt to be pushed deeper into the pores , glazing the pores closed and then causing in time , dry-rot . The leather still needs to breath to survive . Conditioning .......Depending on the type of leather the bags are made of , there are several steps into conditioning . Some leathers require additional oils . In some cases , I would use saddlers oils . I get mine from an Amish owned company named Weaver or Mast (Weaver bought out Mast by the way) . Mink oils are fabulous , but evaporate to quickly . I prefer the saddles oils overall as most contain Cod-fish oil and neatsfoot with other important ingredients . DO NOT USE PURE NEATSFOOT OIL ! It burn the leather as it is too rich . Only use a diluted compound neatsfoot oil if applicable . The leather will tell you how much it needs . Oil enough to where the oils leave a small residue standing , then wipe away . If the leather keeps drawing in the oil , it's telling you it's starving . After I oil the leather , I hand rub the leather with "Ray Holes" Saddle Butter . This product I believe in as I have used it for a long azz time on all my leathers . Now you say , "Boy this is a lot to do ?" . Well I say, if you want your leather to last , it takes elbow grease to preserve . Just the same as you polish your chrome . These cleaner/conditioners may give you the appearance that it does the job , but let me assure you they do not . They do a good job in fooling you into believing so . BEER30
  20. Forgive me for saying this , "There is NO such thing as a Cleaner/Conditioner all-in-one product !" Common since tells you that soaps are stronger than the conditioners or repellents . Why put all 3 of these together when the soaps will dissolve the others . These are just LAZY people products . BEER30
  21. I don't think Big Tom can handle that . That's more than two scoops ! BEER30
  22. I too have the 90 degree metal valve stem on the rear . Problem was that it pointed to the KS side of the scoot and made it more difficult to get to without standing the scoot up on a block or on the stand . So I turned the stem 180 degrees to where I can get to it easier . The brake disc did not interfere as much as I thought it would . My TP gauge is the size of a Hockey puc with the hose on it (forgot what brand) and has a button on the side that keeps the gauge needle at max pressure until I depress the button. BEER30
  23. You mis-pelled Champs , it's supposed to be Chumps . BEER30
  24. Haven't set plans of yet . Other factors forthcoming will determine our route . Not only are we planning for MD , but also to visit our 2 grand-daughters in Sturbridge , Mass . As it looks now MD will be first stop . The shop will be closed that Friday prior for sure and just possibly Thursday for Becky and I if we can sweet talk the mice to not play while we are gone . The mice did pretty good last year , so who knows . Also , found out that there will be some states that I particularly do not want to go through now after talking to Big Tom . But I found the cure to their ridiculous leftist laws and might just stick it up their tail pipe just for laughs . So who knows . Of course we are going to try to go the scenic route and at best avoid NYC and NJ coming back home . Big Tom informed me of some routes to take . Just need to get them into a GPS file for the Zumo . So saying I cannot tell you how much time we will have on the road together to stir up trouble . We might just have to do all that at FreeBird's house ! Also too Gamecock , Bring some finger food for the Swamp Monster at the MD . You may want to make freinds with the Swamp Monster on your first MD . BEER30
