  1. Having had 3 of these ClearView shields since owning my bike and reading these posts I thought I'd better recheck my latest shield I had just gotten. Probably have 2500-3000 miles on it since getting this one. It's a XXL with vent. Had some under the fairing work to attend to anyhow so now was as good time as any to check for problems. None of my screws were loose in any way. I also don't think adding longer screws is needed as I measured mine an the screws were 1/8" longer than the material they go thru, including the metal bar with built in nuts. But might be a good idea if one is adding the larger fender style washer. One advantage would be perhaps easier starting the screws and then sliding the shield into place. My last two shields have 4 slotted notches and two holes for the screws to go thru. The holes were front and center under the vent. All in all I'm a satisfied Clearview customer. I do sympathize with those of you have had problems and glad to hear there wasn't a more serious outcome, especially for James. Discussions such as this is very educational and helps many of our members avoid problems down the road. Larry
  2. Just saw this post and really sorry to read you're going thru all of this once again Gary. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers Larry
  3. Wishing Big Bob a full recovery and as in a short of time as possible. Considering his injuries it may take a while . Best to heal right 1st time around and hopefully no later problems. Prayers to Bob and family Larry
  4. I'll second 1-UP. Had mine on the road since April and will have 9k on it by the time I get home tomorrow. Anyone see a blavk 2nd gen and trailer heading north on I-75 that'd be me. Currently in London, Kentuckey spending the night. Larry
  5. On trips I carry a set of keys - bikes ign, trunk of the trike, and for the trailer on a belt looped key ring. And always carry a spare in my wallet. Wife has her set with us as well. Larry
  6. Here's another site that'll give lots of helpfull info. http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTrailertowing/start Larry
  7. I've got the Kruzer Caddy cup holders like Dray has. Mine are the leather covered versions. Quality product thou a bit pricey compared to some options. http://www.kruzerkaddy.net/ Larry
  8. Hi Ron. Check with Steve Wagner as he has a damper on his side car rig. Not sure how he mounted it but he'll give a heads up I'm sure. I saw a trike with a steering damper on it that I'm assiming was put there because the owner didn't rake the forks. I'll attach a pic here. Maybe it'll help you some. I realize his bike and the attached phots are 2nd gen bikes but I'm sure you can apply the same ideas to your bike. Larry
  9. I use a natural gas heater made by Modine called Hot Dawg. Set the thermostat and forget it if I want. Most times I'll turn it on in the morning, eat breakfast, and go to work in comfort. I used to use a wood stove for years and while it warmed up the garage good it was a royal pain dealing with wood , ashes, and waiting to heat up the garage. One big plus was it's a cheap heat thou labor intensive. Now that I have the gas heater I'll never look back. Larry
  10. Saw set up similar to that at a trikers rally but they didn't use a donor car. It was a Honda VTX with dual wheels up front. It was still driven by the rear wheel and mc engine thou. Got a pic of it somewhere in the files so will post it up later. Larry
  11. Several items on the bike shout out H-D imo, so have to agree with Bubber. Crash bars and lower cowlings Fairing looks to be a Road Glide . (frame mounted) Tank and instruments tank badge trunk & back rest Bag are different then current styles. Larry
  12. Wife just ordered a set of these headsets. We like the idea of the way they can be taken on/off easly if we don't want to use them. Here's a link to the web site. http://www.twowheelsound.com/id127.html You'll also need to order the lower hook up cord. Called them yesterday. Shipped today so should have it in hand soon. If I can hear with them well enough then I'll order a set for myself. Hoping I can anyhow. Larry
  13. It don't show up if you're on home page. But does under any of the fourms. Larry
  14. Tri-Wings Ford axle is inverted and then shortened. Standard gearing is 3.43 as opposed to the factory gearing on a 2nd gen at 3.03. They will also supply a 3.73 gearing if requested. Which is the same as a VMax gearing if I recall correctly. Anyhow I've found that the 3.43 is just about perfect . Not to high on the revs but low enough to compensate for the extra weight of the trike. At a true 70 mph the tach on my bike is reading 3600 rpm. Hope this helped. Larry
  15. I have the Clearview shield w/vent and love it. As a former Suzuki Volusia owner congratulations on moving up to these great bikes. Yea the Vol/C-50's are a good bike but these RSV's can't be beat on the highways or for rider comfort. Have fun accessorizing the bike. Larry
  16. Yep too good to be true. Now I wonder what'll happen to the dudes who pulled off this scam. They were paid some serious money by a BigFoot orginazation. Looks like they could be facing some fraud charges. Oh and now they can't be found either. Took the money and run. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,406101,00.html Oh well. Fun while it lasted. Larry
  17. Another solution would be to polish the edges. Eddie took that option one step further and had them diamond cut. It looks awesome done up like that too. Larry
  18. Or come to the Michigan Maintanence Day & BBQ this coming Saturday, I'll rewire it for you if you want. Larry
  19. Considering that you only have a single flag and pole and that you are a Canadian I say fly your countrys flag as is and be proud of it. Is it proper to fly it in the US? I think so. I seriously doubt it will cause you any grief. In fact I have done just the opposite in the past and have visited Canada with a US flag mounted on the bike. Never had any problems there. Enjoy your trip here in the US. Larry
  20. No question about it. We'll be there Larry & Joyce
  21. Prayers for your family Kevin. May they heal with full recoveries. Larry
  22. Sorry to hear of this happening to another one of our members. Wishing you and the Mrs. a speedy recovery. Take care of your self first. There'll be plenty of time to get the bike fixed back up. Been there done that myself last year. Not fun for sure. Larry

  24. Don't know how I missed this thread and would be interested but like Don says this is just too much for most folks. Someday maybe. Larry
