Only problem is that there's stuff in or on it that will make the bike very sick!!
-
Haven't heard anything about it lately, but a couple of weeks ago, they were reporting on FoxNews, that there was serious suspicion that some of what was going on with the DOW was late day cyber manipulation of the market! There are plenty of tech-savvy countries that can and would do that & worse if they had the opportunity. Ditto, the Pentagon! A couple of far East Asian countries come to mind (actually one really big one). What did they expect? They let all the computer companies farm out services (& knowledge) overseas; some of the city & county governments farm their stuff out overseas; they don't really enforce laws for non-export and it would be hard to do anyway. Sometimes I wonder if they could stop one of the spies from Mad magazine! There's a point, beyond which, the globalist BS mentality comes back to bite you in the backside! (I think we blew the red-light) Then again, there is an awful lot of very public to-do about a breach that the public never should have been made aware of, in the first place! What's the saying? "Methinks they doth protest too much"! So, maybe, the gov. remembered what dis-information is and are trying their hand at it.....You can bet your bippy, that we in the peanut gallery, will likely never know the real truth...and frankly, the ONLY thing I truly want to know about it, is that they know EXACTLY what happened, fixed it and took "steps" to prevent anything similar from happening again! (they know who and "disappeared" them!)

Motorcycle-Superstore has the Tourmaster Trans2 on sale for $166.99! They're quick to process orders and excellent customer service. Also, I was curious did you get the all black deerskin shell gloves? I'm wondering how stiff they are and how thick on the palm side. I've been looking for cold-weather gloves and had seen the Pinnacles on Cabela's website. (I had previously bought a pair of full-fingered, leather m/c gloves that had some padding on the palm.....I can't wear them; the extra thickness kills my hands. During the summer, I wear a matched set of golf gloves)

In days gone by, a string of gals at work stations with big 200 Watt "American Beauty" soldering irons took care of the soldering tasks on electronic assembly lines, because they have better "touch" than most men. The power of the iron (beyond nominal) is less important than skill and time on the solder joint. Also, if possible, use a clip or pair of hemastats or heat sink of some kind between the soldering and the components. I also strongly recommend the inexperienced get asssistance if the work is on something critical. Otherwise, waste as much time as necessary to learn and practice the procedure, until proficient. The test?.........wrap small gauge wire around a teminal post on a scrap electronics board, solder it without having a loose or a cold joint and without burning or melting anything. The joint should be secure, but only have enough solder so that you can see well defined coils of the wire beneath the solder and should be shiny in appearance. (you should still be able to define strands in stranded wire..if not, there's too much solder) Apply heat only until good flow is achieved, then pull away and leave it...if it's a cold joint (dull &/or grainy), don't try to fix it till after it's all cool again-you don't want to risk overheating a component. Also, do use something to hold the pieces in position while soldering, if possible. Even small movement while the solder is cooling/solidifying can cause a cold joint & poor continuity. (and let it cool on its own..don't blow on it) ONLY rosin-core, silver solder for electronics. I disagree with the commentary on flux. I would not recommend any but the experienced fool around with flux (solder paste) around electronics. The acid will destroy things you didn't even know you touched. A little heat spatter can go a long way! You can accomplish similar results with a shaped pencil eraser. Just be clean about it. Use a small electronics vac to clean up, or a little canned air to blow it off prior to solder.

Make sure your arms are bent and not rigid....Good stable (non-death-grip) grasp of the bars-yes, but the arms should be somewhat relaxed and flexible (so they operate kind of like a shock absorber). You can be comfortable alert and in positive control without being tense, which is what it sounds like is happening. I tend to do it in heavy traffic. Every so often, while moving (when it's safe), I'll rotate my shoulders and in turn take one hand off the grip and shake my arm out a little bit, to loosen up. If it bothers me too much, I'll stop for a few minutes for some refreshment and flex all the joints, etc. In my case, I'm just putting off getting a shot in the shoulder, but it's gonna be real soon. my 2cents

tmodel....you tell your dad "God bless you, Sir" from me, please! I put 6yrs in the Air Force ('67-'73). I think about my "brothers in arms" often, these days. Due to my careerfield and assignment, I was barred from going anywhere. (I taught Instrument flight procedures to South Vietnamese undergraduate student pilots) Just my dumb luck! But I have to say, for a long, long time...years, I felt guilty because of it. Not going to south east asia. Yeah, I know..I don't understand it either! But, even now, I have yet to visit the wall, nor can I watch the missing man formation without tears. When the wingman hauls back on the stick and goes into that steep climb, it's as though a serviceman's very soul is being escorted, straight to heaven, to be greeted by God Himself. SO, thank you, my brothers and sisters in arms for your service, your sacrifices; I am forever humbled and in your debt. I can only hope that my efforts, in a small way, actually helped end the war for our side, sooner rather than later!

When my wife & I got married, we were in the Air Force. She was just out of basic & medic school. I was just out of a long tech school. Anyway, this was 1968 and 2 stripes didn't make much and the wedding was on our dime.......Our "reception" such as it was, was at....you guessed it...A&W! They gave us the frosty mugs! Oh, mercy, I hadn't thought about that in years.....thanks for the reminder! Still have the mugs!

Man, I wish I had one for ya. I expect you'll get a lot of response if nothing else! The Thread title got me!!! I had a string of mental pictures running through my mind about how one would lose an eyebrow...................off one's face that is! good luck in your hunt.

The Baron's Bag slash pipes sound really good. The link page has an audio file you can play . http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/369/index.html The attached mp3 is one Cobra used to have on their site (a year or so ago) when I bought my drag pipes from them. Cobra apparently doesn't sell pipes for the venture & RSTD any longer. Mine sounds a bit different from the mp3 because I have the 4-pipe setup. The mp3, if I remember, is for the 4 into 2 RSTD/Venture pipes. I don't know if BUB or some of the others (Kromewerks, etc.) have sound files to hear their pipes, because I haven't had occasion to go look since I bought my pipes. I've heard both and they definitely sound good, too. Some of the guys here have short videos on youtube you might want to check into. I can't resist throwing in the second attached Windows Media Audio(wma) file for grins (play with windows media player or similar)....you wanted a v8 sound, hee, heee!!

Not taking anything away from your or your friend's abilities or knowledge, but spend the couple of hundred bucks it would take to have a professional, independent, third party go over the place with a fine-tooth comb and give you a written evaluation of what it needs! (money well spent) Then, if you proceed, assume nothing will go as planned, assume all costs will go up after you get in the middle of it and have twice the budget available than you think you're going to need! don't ask!

I don't understand the prohibition of passing on the right, if it is a minimum 4 lane highway and you've got a minimum 2 clear (as in not stopped) & functional lanes in each direction. Here, you can pass on the right normally on the 4+ lane roads (divided or undivided). You can pass on the right, on a 2 lane if the vehicle ahead is stopped & you don't have to leave the pavement to do it. (that is usually only possible where there are wide shoulders or a turn/decel/accel laneon the right) Otherwise it's illegal. There was some talk a while back, that the state was going to make it a chargeable offense to just sit and cruise along in the left lane on any 4+ lane roadway. I don't recall if anything came of it or not.

Glad he's OK. I'm also glad I don't have to do that anymore. On one job I had for a 3 year stint in the early '80s, I "averaged" 88 hours per week for the entire 3 years! I don't recommend it.

I don't necessarily see anything wrong with them IF they're tightly held to rules relative to staying on their respective topics. There is nothing wrong, mind you, with belonging to other forums outside of vr.org For example: if I wanted to chit chat a little about carry-permits and different hand guns, I actually don't want to go to some gun only site where it's populated by a bunch of "great white hunter" types or ex-merc.s who can give convention grade speeches on the differences in gunpowder. The little guy who happens to want a little protection, get left in the dust. Even though, in concept it's different than the original programming, I can't envision regular vr.org membership using those sub-forum locations as their main place to go. I mean, by and large, my impression of our membership is one of a group of folks that once they get religion, family and work out the way, their next in order priority is the bike(s) they own and ride. That's not to say they don't have other interests. In fact, that is the exact subject at hand. Maybe I'm missing the point, but it seems there might be some disparity on what the location of these places would be, rather than whether they should be here or not as an adjunct to the main forum areas. I think these "social groups" would be "value-added". I also think, in the final analysis, the time a member spends in a different avocational topic area is going to be spent whether it's here or elsewhere, so why not here? Just me thinkin out loud! I'm done.
