  1. Hey everyone, DQ coupons for all again! WOOHOO Yup, those are the dues, lol.
  2. There are two bolts behind the cluster. If you use a long 1/4 in extension and a nice wobble socket, you can take them out and put them back in that way, It is a tight fit. I thing some people will take out the headlight for additional room. When you do get it out and if you brake the case open, the dimmer knob uses a small screwdriver to get the screw out. Yes it is dark in there and cramped, might not even see it.
  3. Hey Don, glad you had another successful and enjoyable gathering! I am sure all really had a good time and left with large tummies! The age of my family does not allow me to leave the house for long periods of time (more than a day) unless I am really lucky. I would have liked to make that trip up north. Now to try and work on the one at my place in a couple weeks.
  4. You will find that a large portion of the wear, that gives it the slop, is the hole the shoulder bolt goes through and that metal frame piece (as the kickstand swings) as well. A new bolt and sidestand (about $57 for sidestand) will help too, prolly just not as much as you would have hoped. The new bolt I got from Yammy was not green but normal metal looking. Now, I wonder if a slightly larger shoulder bolt and drilling that hole just enough for the bolt to fit like new would solve a large portion of that slop. Would know how to fix the other won down areas. I do feel more comfortable that my setup is new now even though all of the slop is not gone. That new spring looks a whole lot better than the rusted one I had too.
  5. Sounds like we are in the same boat!
  6. Nice! And his thoughts were that he might damage the plastic with the side cages. HAHAHAHA
  7. I added a SuperBrace a while back but noticed no difference. Prolly cause I had no issue there to begin with. Most of my issue turned out to be worn engine mounts and a flexing frame. Might have time in a couple weeks to check out the tightness on those steering head bearings. All in all, still glad you got most of that shimmy resolved!
  8. Well, i dunno if I soaked them enough that they are holding steady now and close enough for what I can accept. I do notice at about 900 rpm that it is at about 18 on the guages and when I spray the third hose on the yics chamber, all guages go to about 1200 rpm and 22 on the guages. Following the inner two hoses down the the cylinders, that is a aweful tight fit. Dunno how I get them off, let alone get them back on. I guess replacing the hoses is best done with the carbs out of the bike. So, I guess one of my next ptojects is to pull the carbs, hope I can get someone local to go through the carbs with me, replace those hoses while I am there and reseal that long oblong thing in the middle of the cylinders. I have been to the oblong thing not too long ago, cleared up most of that leak there but not quite all of it, still have a really small leak there. Dunno when i will get to it, prolly not too soon. Sync looks good enough right now. Done for now.
  9. If I plug my YICS ports, will I need to do the Jason Mod unitl I can properly get in there to fix it? Or, are both a pain?
  10. Well, I got it about as close as i am gonna get. Yes, got the coffee in me. I did spray around the carb boots, no change. I sprayed the four hoses where they connect to the YICS and after about 4 seconds, the rpms started to increase about 300 (slowly). Kinda hard to spray one at a time. So, I guess now I need to figure out how I am gonna do this. Got some studying to do.
  11. Hope I did not offend anyone. I must be a little ticked at my carb sync results. I carried the rant to Golden Corral (a restaurant). Good thing is I got my whole $36 meal refunded, woohoo. I need another drink!
  12. But how many are ACTUALLY active. Sure looks like about 20 to 50. This SUCKS. I know Don wants to keep this free site, but it has gotten to be nuts. Believe me, I sent him a few bucks, so I can speak.
  13. Looks like I am not in your market for headsets. Do you have a speedo with about 73k on it that works without the whine?
  14. I only have a tiny buzz, ya think I should go for more of one? The XBOX shooter games go much smoother when I have more of a buzz. COD4 and Halo3 is easier with more of one. Things are much clearer with a buzz, LOL. is it just me?
  15. Gave it another try, got them real close, blip the throttle, all uneven. Oh well, guess I aint getting any closer. Will look at other stuff incase there is something else I need to contend with.
  16. This is becoming a pain in my backside. 1&2 already synced, 3&4 just slightly off. Attempt to sync all four and it wont even out. Then the cylinders go out of sync, sync those and then all four are off. That large screw for the idle is almost usless, can't keep it at 1000, it drops to 600 or jumps to 1600, holding it a 1000 needs another hand. When I had them close, I get small popping in the exhaust where I did not have it before. I think 3&4 where holding the idle to begin with. Guess I will let her cool down, fan is on and I am pouring with sweat. Then I will beat on it some more to see what I can get out of it. Talk at y'all later!
  17. WoW, had no idea this was happening. I hope you can get the strength back to get back on that bike. No more private parties for you Bob! Best wishes on the recovery!!!!!
  18. Those would be called dirt bike tires and they are full of knobs! In my mind the mix might be ok but the Venoms have a higher load rating than the others and have a higher max psi which could cause a little bit of difference between front and back. I prefer to have matching front and rear tires. If you are looking for budget tire that has had some good reviews (even by famous V7Goose), take a gander at the Pirelli Routes MT66. Seems to be a good following with the Dunlops. The Metz have shown some mixed emotions on this site. Venoms will cost you a bit more and should be a little stickier than the others. The praise for Venoms go both ways. But, on 1st gen could give you some unexplained and unresolved wobble issues. Even with that said, many have no wobble issues with them on the 1st gens. So, take your time, read all the posts that you can on this site and make the choice you feel most comfortable with. DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT BASHING ANY TIRE, JUST WRITING WHAT I HAVE READ.
  19. Ya think it might be a Transformer?
  20. Moving to Texas again? Guess not. If yer up this way, let me know. If yer here on or around the 21st, you know where you need to be!
  21. a.k.a. utadventure
  22. I have a K&N. It came with the bike when I got it in 1994. It is still there and I have no plans on changing it anytime soon.
  23. Glad you got your truck back, Had mine stolen 10 years ago about 4 hours before I proposed to my wife (still pulled it off). I ask the insurance company every once in a while if it was ever recovered, not yet they say. Last time I asked was a couple months ago. Prolly being used by a coyote. I miss that '85 Silverado SWB 4x4 with a month old 350 crate motor with 4 bolt main and a whole lotta other goodies too! I think I have a thing for vehicle made in '85, lol.
  24. WOOHOO Way to go Brotha!
