    Wish these rental places had RSV's. I would rent one just to ride it for a couple days. Unless someone around me was to rent me theirs for a couple days. Like that would happen .

    I can see where the the turn downs would look good with the 86+ bags but the 83-85 bags do not look right with the turn downs to me.

    There are three pipes that I would like to hear on a 1st gen - Kerker K1 and K2 (Will never happen) and Yoshimura 4-1 (prolly will never happen either). Yea, old school I know. The best sounding bikes I have ever heard (4 cycle) is a CB750 K1-k8 with a Kerker 4-1. I love the sound a of a CB750 with a 4-1. Now I f I can only find one I am willing to pay for, that is another story.

    So, after reading this post, the '09 International VentureRider Rally is going to be in Arkansas? Yanno, I just might be able to make this one with Mrs. GigaWhiskey. Even if I have to fly the kids to Arizona to the related babysitters.

    you may never blow the 2nd gear out of that '85. They were supposedly fixed after a certain VIN number. Can't remember what it is but mine is after that number. Sooooooo, did you waste your money on another motor? Guess you might never know, lol.

    about 98% of the time. Since I have my new headsets, I am enjoying the music with them. I like the dark shield too.

    If you will be doing the plug wires and caps, might as well get the 4 gvuge battery cables in there at the same time. You wont regret it. Be prepared for some fun getting those battery box bolts out though.

    I got two of these IMC-HS-G15-FIVE PIN FULL FACE HEADSET for $65.00 each at http://sierra-mc.com and they sound perty good. The speakers are thin and the mic collapses (big foam ball) very well. I needed something small for my Shoei RF-900 and it went in nice. The mic has a velcro setup as well as the speakers (also has a velcro setup) that are sticky enough to remove, if needed. The speakers are in a sleeve as well. I did get one set where the lower did not allow the mike to work and one speaker had a bad connection. Sierra sent a new one out to me in a hurry with a return sticker. They were nice to me and will use them again if I need something from them.

    Have you thought about having those holes welded. At the same time you could pull the baffle out of it if makes noise when you shake it.

    Dunno about making it work like you ask (I do not have a CB). If you treat it like an mp3 player and wire it to the din for the cassette player, you can get it to work.

    Yup, my 80 xs11 would outrun my VR - it also had some work to it. Will you like this xj? Yes! Will it scare you? Doubt it, you ride a first gen. Do I wish it were closer me to I could have that lady stop bothering you? Heck ya! Do you wanna pick it up for me and ride it down here? I would like you to, lol. I think the bike would make a good around town bike that is smaller and lighter than the first gen. But, It would be nice on the road too! Hope that helps. I expect to hear your knock on my front door soon, lol.
