  1. Just listed a 99 Venture for sale in the classifieds. This belongs to a friend of mine and it has been very well maintained. Never dropped or laid down. It your interested let me know and I will get you in touch with him. Great bike at a great price for someone. Mike
  2. While on Main street in Daytona today I snapped this photo of a Venture rider. Anyone know if he's a member here? DT
  3. Honey and I were discussing the origin of theVenture and have sent a genetic sample to the lab to confirm my theory. :whistling: The Venture is a Hybrid cross occuring from an unnatural sex act between a Goldwing and a Harley Superglide. :rotf::rotf: The resulting offspring fortunatally received all of the best parts from both parents and none of the recessive genomes.
  4. :confused24:can anyone tell me how many pins a c bus cable has. and if a clarion dcz 625 clarion cd changer will work on a 2006 venture.
  5. This is why I don't do stoppies on my venture.

    My Venture Trike is Gone

Just thought I'd let y'all know that I have finally sold my venture, trike kit and all! I have not been terribly active on the Venturerider site due to other time commitments, but I did want to thank you all, especially those who contributed all those techie articles that tended to improve on the design of the Venture, and I also enjoyed all the chit-chat and exchanges. My wife and I even got to attend one Meed 'n Eat in western NC... those who were there will remember the Midnight Venture with training wheels Anyway, I'd like to stick around a while if y'all don't mind... I will probably not be buying another bike, but you never know. I've been riding for 55 years, and old habits are hard to break. Thanks to all who made this site possible, and those who work so hard to keep it running smoothly... God bless every one of you and above all, RIDE SAFE!!!! Charlie
  7. I was sitting here watching an old movie tonight. I don't even know the name of it. Goldie Hawn is coaching a high school football team in the ghetto. A lady friend gave here a ride home on her motorcycle...not sure of the year but I THINK it was an '85 Venture. Pretty cool. Never saw a lot of them in the movies.
  8. It's with a very heavy heart that I let you all know of the passing of a great friend and brother. Many of you who are PGR members may know the name "Deltoid" GA Ride Captain. Mike Bland was one of the finest people I've ever met and one of the few I would consider a true friend. He lived with no compromise. A Marine to the end Mike died of a brain tumor Friday night without a wimper. Through months of deteriorating health he never complained and continued to make people around him laugh and feel good about themselves. I will really miss him. I bought Mike a Venture Guardian Bell last Christmas in the hopes that there would be a miracle and Mike would ride again. He has an '07 Midnight Venture and was a member here even though I don't think he ever posted. He liked to read a lot of the tech stuff. Mike was cremated Saturday and we will have a memorial service later this week. the Guardian Bell will be attached to his urn and protect him on his final ride. I wish you all could have known him. He would have fit in perfectly with the great group of people I have met here. Thanks for the friendship and the miles Mike. I will miss you.
  9. Greetings. Neeed some help regarding dressing up my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II. Bought the bike in December and it is arriving here in Iceland next week. Was fortunate enough to find some hard bags from a 2005 Venture here on VR.org from mr. Rick Butler (thousand thanks Rick:))and would like to add that this was the easiest transaction ever. What I am wondering about is if any of you Royal Star riders/owners have swapped the leather bags for hard Venture bags and if there are any modifications needed. By looking at the OEM parts from Yamaha it seems like the supports under the bags are a little different but I would guess that it would be an easy modification. Any tips or advice greatly apreciated. Secondly I just have to have the Venture trunk for my bike. Would like my wife to have it comfy behind me. As far as I can see the only thing in general I need is to get the frame for the trunk as well as the trunk itself of cause. Do you guys know if there are any modifications needed and/or if this is a simple bolt on? Looking forward to hear from you guys and many thanks in advance.
  10. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/225.gif any advice on heated grips for a 83 venture?
  11. Hello everyone" First of all i would like to say that you have a great site. So much information , a lot of great people. I have never posted anything online before so please bare with me i will get better at this. I h ave been a member on this sight for some time i just have not posted this because i didn't want to seem like i joined this sight just to benefit from other members knowledge. Last spring i purchased a 88 venture royale which i enjoyed all summer long putting a total of 7500 miles on. when purchased it had only 19,820 however there were quite a few small issues as the po did not take very good care of her. I live in janesville wi. and this winter we have had record snow fall and cold weather. So i have had plenty of time to adress many of these issues, I replaced tires metzler marathons, all gaskets for side covers, thermostat, gel battery, cleaned and inspected carbs, greased rear wheel to include hub, new rad hoses, plugs, wires cleaned all electrical connections and greased also spent a ton of money on cleaners and buffing wheels, to make engine cases look like chrome then cleared. Finally the reason for post. not havin another venture to compare i feel it runs well going down the road. When i first start the bike it appears to be starving for fuel. also it sounds like it is hitting on half the cyliders until good and warm if i leave the choke on for more than a minute it fouls the right front plug. while the others appear to be starving. i tried to sync and adjust carbs yet this appears to be fuel related. Also while idling warm or cold with light steady throttle the exhaust makes a pop pop pop sound. i have tried everything i know to correct this and it is getting the best of me. I have spent countless hours in the garage please help. also i have a fairly loud knoking sound coming from the clutch side when it is released and nothing while it is pulled in. clutch action is good i have replaced fluid and bled at the same time as new brakes and fluid change. thanks in advance sorry for long post and clutter. I will get some pics up soon once i learn how. she really is starting to look like a beautiful white venture. almost forgot i just got my new travelcade and set of rivco air horns!
  12. The only thing better then a Black Venture is... a Black Venture with a Cherry on top! Black Cherry Rules!
  13. I am kind of new to the motorcycle scene. I have worked with cars since I was a kid. I purchased a totaly perfect '86 Venture last summer. As I use it regular I desided to change plugs and oil over the christmas break. Then wile out riding last week it started to back fire when I get off the gas and some times when I am warming it up it will pop slightly. Have I got a plug loose.... what a bear to change plugs on..... ? Have I disturbed something...... a carb rubber? The local shops just shake thier heads and say live with it or scrap it. any recommendations from other riders would be helpful Kevin Victoria BC Canada

  15. Hi All, Trying to decide if this conversion really makes a big difference in the audio quality on the Venture. I am somewhat concerned for when I pull up the etronics site, the same model EQ that was used for the conversion is listed as 200 watts, but the conversion thread states it is 100 watt, so I suspect the manufacturer may be playing the number game. For those of you that have done this, was it worth the effort? For example, before you may have had to turn your volume to 25 to hear at highways speeds, but after this install, were you reaching the same point around 15 or so? Already upgrade my speakers on a 2006 Venture to Marine grade Polk Audio, but since I listen at high volume, I want to ensure I get enough power to the speakers to keep from harming them in the long run, so torn between the EQ install or an AMP, however I don't want to loose any truck space. Thanks for any help and advice!!!!! :confused24:
  16. I had one just like her. I bought it new off the showroom floor for $1995 in 79. Sold it when I found mamamo in 81. I couldn't afford them both so had to let one go. A man does some strange things at times.I bought my 84 venture 24 years later.
  17. Hi there, New guy here. I am looking for an 86-89 venture and have talked to one fellow about his. He said he removed the catalytic convertor. Would he be talking about the collection box do you think? Will the bike run OK without the collection box or does it need some sort of one? Looking back through older posts someone was making these....and you could still buy them from Yamaha dealers correct? Or am I out to lunch and there is a catalytic convertor? Thanks.
  18. What wires need to be connected to what to convert my 86 Venture to a 4 wire system for my camper trailer?
  19. I cut open my collector box today. Removed all from inside and cut center piece out and welded back...I had a used set of Jardines exhaust so i cut them open and removed baffles.......My bud does chrome work and is going to rechrome........My Question is does the venture need back pressure???????????I'm trying to make it louder but don't want to hurt engine? Any input would be HELPFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS DENNY:stirthepot:
  20. Was at the dealer today told me that star motorcycles are now the designation for yamaha. There will only be a small yamaha engraved on the motor. Also for all of us venture riders the 09 will be totaly redesigned the proto type is already built and being tested. Bill 07 Venture , 95 honda ace, 1100 classic , vtx 1800
  21. Clay18 and I decided that it was time for a new "Venture". We had a tough time deciding what "model" to get. Check out the link to see what "model" we chose. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0GaOGrNy2YuPg Lauri
  22. Not sure where this is, not in the USA though. Nice rig. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN7n55YjeTY]YouTube - yamaha venture[/ame]
  23. I purchased a hitch from Denray. They said I should install a Denray hitch part number 71 on my 86 Venture Royal. After it arrived I held it up under the back of the bike to size up the installation. It doesn't look wide enough to attach to the saddle bag supports. I may be wrong but will know soon as I am in the process of removing a failed hitch. Has anyone else installed a Denray hitch on the 86 version of the Venture Royal? If so what was the part number of the hitch. Perhaps Denray accidentally packed the wrong hitch.
  24. ANY ONE KNOW IF THESE WILL FIT MY 87 VENTURE ROYAL? seen these on ebay this morning 83-85 Yamaha XVZ1200 Venture Lighted Brake Rotor Covers.
