  1. OK folks...here is what I'm going to do. The prize will be a $159.00 gift certificate from Motorcycle Gear ( previously New Enough). You can check them out by clicking on their banner when it comes up at the top of the page. Please note, their program has changed and VentureRider ONLY gets credit from them IF you enter their site by clicking on the banner above when making your purchases. Now for the contest. We all know that we share a common interest in motorcycle riding. That is the one thing that brings us all together here. What else do we know about each other though? Some of us know each other better than others due to eats and meets, local rides, etc. There are some that we know hardly nothing about though. So, to be entered in the drawing the for gift certificate, all you have to do is reply to this thread and tell us ONE MORE hobby that you enjoy in addition to motorcycling. It could be gardening, bee keeping, guitar or other instruments, auto racing....whatever but you have to list at least ONE other interest. That's all there is to this one folks. The contest will run until next Friday at midnight. That is Friday the 25th. First thing on Saturday morning I will randomly draw a winner from all who post to this thread with their hobby or interest.
  2. I hate starting a new thread on an old topic, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I bought a set of Baron Nasty Boy 4-2-4 pipes for my RSTD last year and ran them for about 1/2 the season. Just about every thread I found out here says they sound great, but mine sound raspy and a lot like the glass packs I put on my old Mustang. I thought they came without glass. They also feel like there is more back pressure than my old Samsons (which sounded and performed much better). When I goose the throttle they are much slower to respond than my old Samsons did. Before re-chroming and putting the Samsons back on, anyone have a cure for me? PS How do I get the freakin' baffles out? They get stuck at the end of the pipe. Much thanks to anyone who can help out..
  3. Was following a thread that mentioned American Motorcyclist magazine and a letter how racers were spoiling riding for the rest of us. Couldn't read the letter without signing up with them but did find this interesting pdf about the different State laws regarding riding. For a good summary... go to http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/asp/legisltn/OnHwyLawChart.pdf or... http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/PrintLaws.html For Canada... this article was good http://ezinearticles.com/?6-Things-You-Must-Consider-Before-a-Canadian-Motorcycle-Ride&id=1391477 or ... http://www.ehow.com/list_7224801_canadian-motorcycle-helmet-laws.html (didn't know I can't listen to music thru my helmet speakers !). Also... probably won't affect Venture riders but keep exhaust sound laws in mind too. Sorry... hijacking my own thread but for a history on motorcycle helmets.. http://www.thehistoryof.net/the-history-of-motorcycle-helmets.html Tips from an insurance company http://www.kanetix.ca/ic_moto_info_moto_articles_03
  4. Black Owl has a thread titled Special Activites Fund (SAF) that was started in December. Now for those of you who don't know Russ, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Russ doesn't ask very much from this family, and yet he gives 10 times back. He's asking for a small donation, anything, to help. When we have a Venture family member pass away, he's the one that sends flowers, etc. He's had to bump that thread several times, and he's asking for our help. He's not asking for much from you, just a little. So far, there hasn't been the response that I would have thought. I know Russ does a lot for this family, and a lot of times, it comes out of his own pocket and no one ever knows about. I hope he isn't upset with me, but I'm down on one knee begging you to help him out. So,....even if it's only a buck or two, maybe $5.00 even $10.00.....it would sure be nice to show him a little appreciation for all he does. Thanks in advance for any help! Deb
  5. How common is the 10mm X 1.0 thread on most metric bikes? I think, without checking my manuals that is the proper thread for the spark plugs on our and a lot of others right? Some are on the forks if I remember right also. Looking at something but want to check on how much it might get used. Mike

  8. I know that some of you have still not received your mugs. It seems that some are taking much longer than usual to be delivered. I know that Redneck and tnt05venture have reported that they have not received theirs yet. Anybody else? If you have NOT received your VentureRider mugs, please post in this thread.
  9. Here's my trailer in work and some pics of my newly installed hitch. Hopefully I can keep this thread updated as I modify my trailer...
  10. Folks, I just sent out an urgent email to all our members. It is a request that I seldom make any longer because I felt that we were asking too often. This is a real need though for a wonderful person who has also been one to help others. Now she needs us and I hope that we can be there for her. If you do not get the email and want to know more, please let me know. The posts of this thread have now been deleted and the thread closed. This was done for privacy reasons. You folks stepped up to the plate and I don't even have the words to express my gratitude for all that you do. If anybody was planning to help and just hadn't done so yet and need info as to how, please send me a private message.
  11. I was reading on the Pashnit motorcycle forum this morning and seen this thread. I never gave that much thought about tire pressure gauges reading right. Here the thread. http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28054
  12. I removed the Trunk Mirror out of the trunk so I could fix the mirror hinges. In so doing the 4 mirror bolts dropped somewhere into the Back Rest. I was wonder if someone can point me to a thread as to how best to retrieve the Trunk Mirror Bolts. I searched for Trunk Mirror but found nothing very helpful.

  18. Just in case you missed the post to the original thread, the VRAssistance list has been updated. The first column has been added to specify if the person is a supporting member, expired member, etc. It can be downloaded in .pdf or Excel format from the "sticky thread" at the top of the watering hole.
  19. I do not know who to contact but I have been trying to download pics to update my thread and it keeps failing I have tried different computers and sending the pics to different places but it keeps saying the upload failed and I have put pics on my thread before.
  20. I was wondering if there was a way to include a date a thread was posted for the first time beside the heading or title? ive just noticed quite a few old posts come to life lately and am wondering if that date addition might help eliminate postings on a stale dated thread? Brian
  21. I posted a thread request for Cody 2011 Logos, but so far the thread has drifted off into the sunset... So I think I get it.... Ya'll want to get something for your efforts. So here's the deal. The member who designs the winning logo will receive 2 (one of each color) free T-shirts with their design emblazened across the back. Not enough you say?? OK, and a 6/pak of your favorite beverage... other than hard liquor... Hey, even we have our limits.. So are you feeling lucky?? Time to spread those creative wings, and send in your ideas.
  22. In the past with other bikes I've owned, I always came up needing a part that's near impossible to find. After months of searching for some parts, I came across a couple of motorcycle "Wreckers" in the Greater Vancouver area. Unfortunately, one closed it's doors, but the other is always busy with people looking for what they need and the owner helping out whenever possible. That second location is a business called "Bent Bike" located in Langley BC. I thought it would be a worthwhile thread for people to list any recyclers in their area to form a resource for those looking for parts for their aging bikes. For example, I walked in the door today and hanging up in the rafters is the left side saddle bag for an '84 Royale, no lid was visable but apparently they have a lot of other plastic from that bike. I'll put the contact info below and if the powers that be find that this isn't a good idea, feel free to delete this thread, (or make it a sticky if it's worth it...) Bent Bike 201-20701 #10 Hwy Langley BC V3A 5E8 ph: 604 534-1033 bentbike@telus.net
  23. Trader threw down the gauntlet in the DQ thread. Southern PA will meet at the DQ on Lancaster Ave (462) East of Columbia at 7:00. I lied and said Columbia Ave in the original thread. Same road. It becomes Columbia Ave a few miles east. See you there! 1624 LANCASTER AVE COLUMBIA, PA 17512-9543
