  1. I plan to do my own maintenance for the 600 mile service recommendation. I can do the oil change, final drive oil, and do a whole lot of safety checks. There is one thing that I am not so sure off...is the carburetor synchronization. How is this accomplished? Is there a special tool? and/or is it necessary this early in the life of the motorcycle?
  2. Ok folks, just wanted to bring this back up, just in case some of you have forgotten.............Party at Hooters:dancefool: in Newnan, Ga. 8/31/08. Here is the formal post. Special Event - August 31st - VentureRider.Org
  3. I ran across this organization today on the net......and then funny thing when we went to counceling today and she asked if we had a support system here....i said no family here and very few friends since we havent lived here long......BUT i said and proceeded to tell her about this group which she was impressed by you all( and come to find out she used to ride) and very glad we had some special people. well she happened to mention BACA then and i told her i had been reading about them.....she thought they may be a good group to get ahold of for some support. http://bacausa.com/
  4. I counted 33 bikes and 45 people at the Asheville supper run this evening. What a good meal and great time. A special thanks to 1 rooster for the get together. He got a suprise of his own.
  5. Goes out to everyone who attended, participated and thoroughly enjoyed the 2008 Kitchener International Rally. You are what made this Rally a success. Every stop I felt bad having to get you back on your bikes because the comradory was self evident. Whether it was riding, socalizing, out for dinner, sitting by the fire till 1:00 oclock in the morning(which I now nominate Shari with the name of "GIGGLES") every moment of every day was complete enjoyment. Special thanks goes to those that pitched in and assisted in every manner to bring this week together and make it a success. Thank you Reiny for putting up with me and my crap for the last 6 months. And a special thanks to my wife Gayle for assisting me, and for making it a lot easier for me to do my part. I am truely thankful that we could share with you our little part of the world and look forward to were ever the next rally will take us. Pics will be forth coming. Again Thank You:bighug: Hal
  6. Best Buy lists the zumo 500 for $899 on their web site but many of the stores are clearing them out for $539 as an in store special only. If you go to the website, look up the 550 then use the link to do a search for a local store with one in stock you may get lucky.. The web site continues to show $899 but if you have a local store with one in stock, call them, they may be doing the in store special. There were none in stock anywhere near me in North Florida but another store by a friend had one, he picked it up for me and is shipping it to me. I also noticed two stores in Orlando show them in stock.
  7. Hi I'm new here, and I have a question about replacing the antenna on my 84 VR. I posted this question in a different area, but now I think I should post in the Tech area.Do I need a special antenna for the radio, or will a generic one work? I don't have a CB. If I were to get a CB where would I mount it? Thanks
  8. My question is.......Can I take the plastic off my 83 VR and take it all to a regular auto body shop and get it painted? Is there any difference in having them paint it or is there some special motorcycle paint out there that is supposed to be used?
  9. I just picked up a 1987 Venture Royale with a 2 person sidecar and want to change the sparkplugs, but can't seem to find a socket to fit the hole! I looked at it with a flashlight and the distance between the sprakplug and the wall is very thin. Is there a special way to get these out?
  10. Hubby asked if I would jump on the website (we don't have internet at home) and find out from you guys if wiring from the Venture (tail lights and blinkers)to a new carrier he's made that sits behind the bike is easy or if he needs to do anything special. I'm not sure what thread I'm looking for about wiring. He's planning on doing it tonight so any help would be appreciated!
  11. Ok so I have decided that its finally time to do my starter clutch. I've lived with it slipping & clattering for several years, but now its just causing too much 'will it start' anxiety these days when ever I go anywhere. I'll probably end up doing it my self. I did my stator coil last year so I know my what into the fly wheel. My question is, do I need a special puller tool to get the flywheel off? I have a big puller that seems to be up to the job but I am worried that the hook ends on it might not fit between the fly wheel and the starter clutch gear. Is a special tool needed or recommended for the pulling of the fly wheel, or is a common garden variety puller likely to be useable? Thanks, Brian H. Uxbrige Ont

    Special thanks

I would like to say a very special THANK YOU to Skid from West Virginia. I asked for Skids help in locating an American Legion in Elkins WV, as the MTA is holding their annual MTA Gathering at the Canaan Valley Resort at the end of June. Skid went out of his way to get me the phone numbe to contact them so I might set up our dinner ride for the Monday night. This has been done and ALL IS GOOD.:cool10: Thanks Skid for your help. Darrell MTA President
  13. Sky Pilot here, I just got a headset for the 07 Venture and was wondering if there was a special channel for motorcyclists, (like 19 for truckers)? Appreciate any help! Thanks Sky Pilot !
  14. Well......I am waiting to sell the Vulcan 750! Dealer has the2008 RSTD in the box waiting for it all to happen! Anything special I would need to know about the RSTD? Anyone in or near King George, Virginia wanting to ride?
  15. Snuck up on me this year, but as many of you may know, March 8 - 16, is Canadian-American Days here in the Myrtle Beach area. If any of you are down for the event or coming for part of it, Welcome!! As always--lots of stuff going on. Killer car show, shag dance competition and if you absolutely have to there's always....golf. Later in the year (~June 2), Hard Rock Theme Park has the Grand Opening with the Eagles. (soft-limited opening in April) http://www.hardrockpark.com/index3.php is the site if you want to poke around. I have nothing whatsoever to do with the place or anything, but it should be sonething special. And NO, I will not ride Led Zeppelin..15 stories, 65 mph...6 loops...No sir, I don't think so....even if it is set to "Whole Lotta Love"! Spring Bike Week May 9-18 I gotta leave now, I'm starting to sound like a darn commercial.

  18. Well folks, early tomorrow morning we will be leaving for the companies resort near Hayward, WI. It will just be Eileen and I along with our son Dylan and one of his friends. Before leaving though, I just wanted to pay a special tribute to a special lady. Approximately 13 years ago, I was living in San Diego, CA but was in Dallas, TX on a business trip. It's a long story that I won't tell right now but the bottom line is that I met a very special lady. I was just out of a bad relationship and certainly not looking to get back into a relationship at the time. Eileen had been divorced for many years and was very content with her life and was looking even LESS than I was to get into a relationship. The fact is though, and I honestly believe this, there was a higher power who took control of the situation and thrust us towards one anyway. There are many things that happened but suffice to say, it was just meant to be. Tomorrow we will celebrate 12 years of marriage. I wish that I could say that it has been a heavenly 12 years but there have been some rough times, mostly from outside influences. Family illnesses, deaths in the family, many things and it has been very difficult at times. The one thing though that has carried us through it though is a love for each other that I never knew could be so strong. I know that some of you may not believe this, but there is a slight possibility that I can be hard to live with at times.. NO...really....it's true. What can I say, she has stood beside me even when I sometimes thought I was strong enough to stand alone. She knows and understands my weaknesses better than I do and for that I give thanks to our Heavenly Father on a very regular basis. The Lord knows what we need and when we need it and provided me with a very special partner that I honestly don't know, now, how I could do without. OK...sorry about getting all mushy on you but just wanted to publicly acknowledge what a wonderful person she is. She allows me the time to enjoy this site and all of the friends I have made here and that alone is a pretty big deal. In that regard, I promise you that I will be here and that I will continue to work towards making this a better place for all of us but I am also pledging to be more available to my lovely wife this year and recommit myself to a wonderful person that deserves all that I can be for her. Besides all that....she is HOT!!!!!!! and now back to our regularly scheduled program.

    Canadian bells are in!

Hey Don - checked the mail today, and the Guardian bells have hit Canadian territory! They look great too ... and the Canadian ones are extra special ... after they jingle, they go "eh" ... Thanks for doing this. Cheers,
  20. I had to synchronize my friends 900 kawasaki :rotfl: followed the specs.... no need for any special tools except a 7mm wire ..that you place in the throat body
  21. is it possible to replace the fork seals on a 88 venture royale by removing the lower part of the fork or do i need to remove the whole fork and use special tools to get it appart.
  22. I thank you all my friends on Venturerider.org. I sit here totally numb right now, I have just lost the love of my life. Debbie passed away during the night. It was totally unexpected. I don't know what to do. I have family with me and that helps, but the loss is already so bad I can't imagine it getting worse. Many of you knew her and she was glad to know you as friends, a couple that deserve special mention are Cinderella, Jane (Boo's wife), Sweet Nothing and Linda Predock. Even if she didn't always keep in touch, she had a special place in her heart for you. I'm sure there are others but I'm kind of spacey right now. I may not respond here but know that I will be harvesting the love and care that you send our way in this time of sadness. Thanks for being here for her and me.
  23. A real steal, I just installed the following 9" red led strip lamp, under my RSV trunk, on my brake circuit. It is really looking great, no special bracket required, not difficult to install and the leds are really bright..... professionnal look. I used transparent silicon to hold it in place and connected it to the brake light circuit...... et voila....
