1. Friend of mine has a 1000cc Kaw-wa-ski police special and would like to put a dual seat on it. Does anybody know of a dual seat that will fit it?
2. Just received an E-mail from Bluese that she has sold her scoot. She will be missed by all who had the opportunity to meet her. Who else would let everyone at a Pork in the Pines sign their seat?
3. It was just one of those deals that I just couldn't pass up. So, last week I closed the deal on a 1980 Honda CB750 Custom. It only has 19,350 miles on it and the only damage is one the seat where the stitching on the seat has broken (which should be a simple upholstery repair), and a hole about the size of a dime in one of the turn-signal covers on the fairing. It came complete with the original Hondaline Touring Accessory Package - detachable saddlebags, trunk and a full fairing. Aside from adjusting the carburetors, and a slight oil drip (which I have yet to determine where it's coming from), it's seems mechanically sound and runs very smooth. And yes, the weather finally cooperated enough this afternoon for me to shoot some pictures. Good thing I did it today too, it's supposed to snow and blow all day tomorrow. Here's a link to my FaceBook Pics of this bike. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2437511&id=17809521&l=8cd24966d3 Be Safe! Pete.
4. You know I've probably dropped 4 nuts putting my seat back on and I think Ive only found two. Where have you guys seen them go? I just ordered 6 more. I tried the nylon ones but like the length of the stock nuts. Makes it easier to install.
5. As many of you already know I had my seats redone on my MM. Several comments were put in there hoping that they would ride as good as they looked. Well I took her out for a spin today (about 350 miles) and she rode just fine. I was a little concerned because the newly redone seat was much firmer than the pillowtop and I loved the pillowtop. Dorsi removed the pillowtop portion of the seat leaving the foam foundation and put a piece of 1/2" firmer foam on top of the foam foundation. I explained to Dorsi that when I ride my tailbone never hurts but my sitting bones (the two bones that push into the seat) are the bones that start burning and become very sore. I had brought a pattern to Dorsi of where my sitting push into the seat and I figured if we remove the foam foundation where those two spots are that would eliminate the problem. Well it seemed to have worked. The two sitting bones did not get sore today. My entire (bottom) would start to get a little sore and a little wiggle or repositioning would get rid of the little stinging and I would be satisfied for a while. When we stopped at lights I saw other riders standing up and as we were going down the road they were standing on the floor boards to give their posterior a break but not me. So I am very please with the seats both the way they look and the way they ride.
6. the corbin seat company. is for sale,so i decided to buy it. no not the company, a new solo seat for my nomad. i mounted it yesterday. this is my 7th corbin seat. it is ultra comfortable and i haven't broke it in yet. corbin says it takes a couple of thousand miles to form the memory foam, which i have found to be true, from past experience. i have had quite a few custom seats, and i still find corbin to be the best for the long haul. i rate this one a 15 on the 10 scale, for looks and comfort. my wife does'nt like the corbin touring seat on my v-star 1300. i think the rear floor board position may be the problem. i told her you will like it, cuz i'm not buying anymore seats.
7. Has anyone purchased a different seat that was made for a taller rider? Mine is not comfortable on long rides . I would like to be higher and able to scoot back further. dave
8. A man had just settled into his seat next to the window on the plane when Another man sat down in the aisle seat and put his black Labrador Retriever In the middle seat next to the man. The first man looked very quizzically at the dog and asked why the dog was Allowed on the plane. The second man explained that he was a DEA agent and that the dog was a 'sniffing dog'. 'His name is Sniffer and he's the best there is. I'll show you once we get airborne, when I put him to work.' The plane took off, and once it has leveled out, the agent said, 'Watch This.' He told Sniffer to 'search.' Sniffer jumped down, walked along the aisle, and finally sat very Purposefully next to a woman for several seconds. Sniffer then returned to his seat and put one paw on the agent's arm. The agent said, 'Good boy', and he turned to the man and said, 'That woman Is in possession of marijuana, so I'm making a note of her seat number and The authorities will apprehend her when we land. 'Say, that's pretty neat,' replied the first man. Once again, the agent sent Sniffer to search the aisles. The lab sniffed about, sat down beside a man for a few seconds, returned to Its seat, and this time he placed two paws on the agent's arm. The agent said, 'That man is carrying cocaine, so again, I'm making a note Of his seat number for the police.' I like it!' said his seat mate. The agent then told Sniffer to 'search' again.. Sniffer walked up and down the aisles for a little while, sat down for a Moment, and then came racing back to the agent, jumped into the middle seat And proceeded to crap all over the place. The first man was really grossed out by this behavior and couldn't figure Out how or why a well-trained dog would behave like that, so he asked the Agent, 'What's going on?' The agent nervously replied, 'He just found a bomb.'
9. Came across this article... http://www.cyclecanadaweb.com/articles/10634/ Honda is seeking a patent for a motorcycle seat belt in combination with an ejector seat.
10. This winter I installed the R-Mark receiver on my bike ('09 RSV). I don't have a trailer yet and probably won't get one until next year but I figured while I'm doing everything else I should pre-wire the bike for a trailer. Questions.... - I put the trunk wing on this winter and connected the wires under the seat (per Yamaha's instructions for now - pretty Mickey Mouse the way they suggest). Should I connect the trailer wires under the seat as well or from the tail light? I also have the Stebel horn/wiring harness and passing lights. I don't have a fuse block because I haven't found one that I thought would work very well. Getting a little cramped under the seat! - is there a standard wiring harness that is available? If so, should I install one that has a 4 or 5 pin connector? - is an isolator recommended or does it depend on whether the trailer has LED's? What isolator is recommended? I've seen where you need an isolator depending on whether the brake/turn lights are combined on the trailer but should you put one in the bike for both conditions? I've seen the other threads that say what wire on the bike is for each function (brake/turn/running light) so that part I already know.
11. I understand these are very popular in Arizona right now. I think I want one.
12. Hello All...just wondering just how far you can lower the pillow seats and who does it? Would be great if i could find someone in Canada...
13. A couple weeks ago, I had a 5 gallon bucket seat that I use for hunting fall out of the rafters and hit the tank on my bike. Of course the soft cushion seat couldn't hit it, it was the bottom of the bucket and it left a dent. Any idea where I can get a replacement? A friend of mine owns a dent remobal company and didn't think he could remove it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.....made me sick!
14. Does anyone have a pillow top RSV seat set up they would like to sell?? Im just wondering thanks...:fingers-crossed-emo
15. OK i have the oppurtunity to purchase either a Corbin seat with a drivers back rest or a Mustang Seat with a Drivers Backrest. So my question is this, for me I have ridden a mustang seat on my Virago for ten years, yet I am now moving to a 05 RSTD. So my main concern is passenger comfort. Which seat gives the passenger the best support and comfort? My wife and i a not small people so I really need some insite on this so I make the right decision. Thanks Viragofan Soon to be owner of a 05 RSTD
16. 2003 Midnight Venture studded seat. Best glue used to repair small area of torn leather/pulled seams? Is it even possible? Damage located on seam just where it should get lots of abuse from mount/dismount. Any advice/experience? Thanks!
17. I posted this in general tech but maybe nobody saw it. I need to know if the passenger seat bracket (the one that holds the front of the seat) is the same on a '96 and an '07 RSTD. Thanks y'all.......
18. Tell me please... is the passenger seat bracket...the one that holds the front of the seat..... the same on a '96 RSTD and an '07 RSTD or are they different? Thanks in advance.
19. I recently undertook the task of comfortizing the Corbin seat on my new (to me) 2000' RSV. As I mentioned on an earlier thread the "out of the box" Corbin seat just does'nt fit me. My investment was $120.00 and a days work but it was well worth it . I now have an "all day" seat and so does my passenger. I installed Two 5/8" saddleman gel pads into the molded foam and covered them with 1 yard of felt I purchased at Walmart. 3M adhesive spray was used to hold the felt in place while the leather cover was being installed and riveted. As you can see in the pics , I slightly reshaped the seat with a 4" angle grinder and added some dense upholstery foam (white) to the backrest portion of the driver seat to give the seat more low back support. The seat is very comfortable. I now sit slightly lower in the seat. My next project is to lower (cut down) my Show Chrome wind shield about 1 inch and the RSV will be ready for a road trip. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/031.jpg?t=1296763489 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/033.jpg?t=1296763653 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/036.jpg?t=1296763733 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/037.jpg?t=1296763801 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/038.jpg?t=1296763877 http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/047.jpg?t=1296763952 GOD BLESS AMERICA " These are the times that try men's souls"

21. Hello everyone in the RSV family. I am a new owner (2000' #374) and a new member. I purchased the bike from an original owner in Deluth MN. I recently flew up to MN and loaded the Bike on a rental truck and trucked it to K.C. Misouri (below the snow line). From there i rode to my hometown of Mobile Al (1025 mi). I loved the ride and the bike. I was not impressed with the Corbin seat however. Some people rave over Corbin seats but I guess they do not fit everyone the same.To each his own. The first thing I did was add a light bar in the front and rear and convert the rear turn signals to stop and tail and turn with a kit from cruiser customizing. Next I installed 1.5 " risers. All was money well spent. The wife and I are planning a ride to California in June so My next project will be the seat. I will either modify the Corbin or purchase a stock seat and modify it . Maybe someone on this foruum would like to work up a trade of some kind ? The second order of business is storage. Has anyone tried one of the 18" x 30" cooler racks from Rivco ? I would rather not trailer with the bike if I do not have to but trailering is not out of the question. The plan is to trailer the bike to Clayton NM. and park the truck there at the KOA ($5.00 per day aint bad). We will ride from Clayton to CO Springs (can't wait to smell the Russian olives) the first day to visit our son at the Air Force Academy. From there we will ride west through CO , Utah,Nevada, and in to Sacramento. We will visit the Redwoods, Pacific coast highway,Napa valley, Lake T. , Death V. and the sequoias. We will take a more southernly route on the return trip. This will be our first two up trip. We did Yellowstone in 08', Grand Canyon in 09', and Big Bend in 10' on My Vtx 1300 and her VSTAR 1100. I look forward to sharing information with the RSV family. Any help that will improve our riding experience will be appreciated. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/007.jpg?t=1294859017
22. Has anybody tried out the new mustang seat for the venture yet
23. To those who have had both the corbin dual tourer seat and the Yamaha pillow top seats....how they compare? I realize seat choice is all kind of/sort of a personal preference.....just wondering how many pillow top users have switched to the corbin and really prefer it that way? gunk:smile5:
24. I'm looking for the guy who does the seat customizing for the Ventures. i believe it is the "Butler" redo. I want to send him my 2006 Venture riders seat now that the season is over here in MN.. Thanks, Byron
25. I have a little project in mind for my 06 tour deluxe so I am looking for a used even beat up seat of any brand (corbin, oem or mustang). I don't even care if it has any leather on it or foam. I just do not want to experiment with one that is usable right now. I saw a bike that had been reworked with a "different" design in the leather and I am wanting to try my hand at it since I have a little extra leather hanging around the shop. The other thing is I want to see of I can fashion a bracket for the passenger portion that we can use for handles and cup holders etc. The seat I saw mimics a car seat with button and tuck design. I am just not sure if I want the small buttons on it. Have any of you seen anything like this and what are your thoughts. PM me if you have anything that may work.
