  6. Wonder if it comes in Pink could be a big seller for our VR Group Riders in the southern states http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AwQw_lwcRu0 Dray
  7. Hey Vancouver Island riders. The last week two riders were killed on the Malahat high-way {cars crossing centerline} In case you have not heard there is a ride from Ogden Point to the Parliment Buildings this Saturday. It is an impromtu ride , not organized by any particular group to reinforce the call to divide the highway for the safety of all drivers. Muster up at 3 pm at Ogden, then about 3:30 at the Parliment for some speakers and a moment of silence etc. Cheers, Gary
  8. A group of riders are leaving from the Dallas/Ft Worth area on Saturday the 29th to ride Talimena for the fall colors. We plan on riding to Mena Ar (about 290 miles) on Saturday, spending the nite and riding the Talimena Byway on Sunday and returning back to the DFW area that afternoon. Everyone's invited, just let us know where you would like to join up. We're starting from Irving at 6am. Most of the guys are HD riders but I'm not holding that against them, they just haven't come around to a good scooter yet. LOL
  9. While heading along the 401 to Guelph a piece of metal came out from under a car. Despite my efforts to avoid it, my front tire caught the edge of that crazy bouncing piece of metal. I got off at HWY 6 and I pulled off to inspect my tire to make sure I had no major concerns. While inspecting my front tire two Harley riders pulled off the road to see if I needed any help. I thought that was real kind of them., and wanted to mention it given the negative comments they sometimes get.
  10. The time is drawing near for our annual St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial ride to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tn. The date is Oct. 1, 2011. We will be meeting at the Flying J Truck Stop in W. Memphis, Ark. Time to meet there will be 11:00-11:30 am for lunch, then head over to St. Jude for 1:00 pm to tour the hospital. If you haven't been to St. Jude you are in store for a moving experience. I never tire of seeing that facility and it really brings on a range of emotion that I can't overcome. They do fantastic work there in helping these sick kids that are suffering from cancer and associated diseases. I will probably still have some Vogel shirts left along with patches and Cruisin for the Kids support bracelets, that I will gladly pass out for those who want to make a small donation. And remember we will be meeting up with the North Alabama Road Riders, who by the way have challenged us in the fundraising effort, so we can't let a small group of riders from Alabama beat us. At this time I am not ready to make known our total for St. Jude, but I will say this, we have surpassed last years total and are now headed for a new high total.....:clap2:............Looking forwad to seeing everyone there. 11. My friend and I came up with a very good idea. I have mine finished today, I did the sanding and painting myself. I tried it out, I ran 65 mph once while flying the 3'x5' flag on a six foot pole, no problems, very very strong build. This will work fine right in your existing 1 1/4" trailer hitch or just add yourself a trailer hitch to your bike and this will work great. Took us a few days to work every thing out, the correct angle, the length, proper placement on the bike and so on. Works wonderful. These units would work great for any motorcycle. There is also room in the flat steel area to attach a sticker of your choice (left & right side), that is what I am going to do. I thought I would post this, because of all the hard time I had finding ideas and such and looking for one for sale. I found nothing in this price range and I am just wanting to share this and possibly help some other Patriot Guard Riders out. I will have these in the Classified section ASAP for all, with PayPal options and so forth. Thank you, Fuzzy
  12. Final packing and bike prep for our journey from GA to DC and PA for the 9/11 memorial events. So far we have 8 bikes and 11 riders. 1st stop - Harrisonburg VA for the night on Thursday, then on to Bucks County PA (Gardens of Reflection) by way of DC. Several rides and events are planned there over the weekend with the Warriors Watch Riders, along with the massive "bike night" in Lansdale PA on Saturday, which is expecting 15,000 bikes. Heading back to GA on Monday with a stop somewhere in southern VA, then home by Tuesday afternoon. Other side trips while there to include a swing up to the Naval Air Station in Lakehurst NJ, a visit to New Hope PA to see the parents of Sgt. Jennifer Hartman (killed in Iraq 11/06), and a ride with a 9/11 survivor group of bikers from north Jersey (which includes my brother, who escaped the attack on the South Tower). This will be a tremendous trip to honor and remember the heroes and victims of 9/11. While we would like to get to the ceremonies in NYC and/or Shankesville PA, there just isn't time to do it all. Working the beads tonight praying for good weather. Not looking great right now, but hopefully it will all clear out by the time we get up there. Bon voyage......
  13. How many Moose riders do we have here? I am a long time member of lodge 547 in Ashtabula Ohio. We are going to get the Legion Riders started here if the interest exists. I just realized I asked how many Moose riders we have. The Canadiens should go nuts with the funny responses.
  14. The official Ga. Eagle Riders website is up and running. Check it out at www.foeeagleridersga.byethost24.com Even though the site is about the Eagle Riders which are an internal group of motorcycle riders who are members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles all are invited to participate in events, visit the different Aeries in Atlanta, Gainesville, Waycross, St. Mary's and Augusta. And join if you like what you see. This web site has links that will tell you about who the Eagles are, what we stand for and what we try to do. Hope you enjoy
  15. A suggestion was brought up about a Patch specficially for the RSTD. I'd be interested in designing one. First does anyone know if there is an existing patch for the RSTD. Second do any RSTD riders have any ideas for an RSTD patch. You can draw it out on a piece of paper, take a picture and post it on this thread.
  16. In Utah for the next few months and have my 99 RSV with me from Kansas. Looking for other RSV riders here in Utah and hopefully hook up with some riders going to Cody. Gilligan

    tires

I don't post much here, mainly just read other's posts but I'm on quite a bit. What concerns me is the last few days I see other riders having tire issues, Avon's with the sidewalls cracking and tire blow outs. I kind find it hard to believe that us riders are negligent on tire care such as inspecting them, and maintaining tire pressures ect. What is the consensus that perhaps like alot of things now that the quality of materials are lacking? I guess in the back of my mind I'm thinking that the costs of raw materials in today's society that manufactures are going the cheap route, and lack of proper quality controls to produce a good safe product. When I get back to Pa. my other bike will need tires and I'm concerned on what to get. I put the e3's on the venture two years ago and couldn't be happier with the bike. How old can tires actually be to actually be safe to use? I realize that tires have a manufacture date, and set on a shelf for a while, but how old before the safety factor comes into play? Any other's see a possible trend here? Thanks..
  18. Some of you may recall me mentioning my involvement with the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the internal Eagle Riders groups. Last year we raffled off a new Harley and many of you supported that effort by purchasing raffle tickets for that fund raising event. (Sorry if you did not win) As a result of that raffle we raised over $4,900 for the Cancer fund in addition to raising the money to purchase the bike. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international organization dating back to 1898 whose sole purpose is to raise money for charities we support. The organization has a rich history of accomplishments and disquished membership including Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman and many many more notible public, sports figures and celebrities. http://www.foe.com The FOE has over a million members internationally with local chapters known as Aeries. Within many of the Aeries we have formed internal groups known as the Eagle Riders who are motorcycle enthusiast who organize to raise funds for charities and promote the message and causes of the FOE through motorcycle related rides and events. For more information check out this link http://www.foe.com/events/eagle-riders.aspx I mention this to announce that I have recently been appointed and installed as the Georgia State Ride Coordinator making me responsible for the organization, growth and leadership of the Eagle Rider Groups in the state of Georgia. And to invite all of you to check out the FOE and Eagle rider groups in your area. Georgia has five Aeries located in Atlanta, Gainesville, Augusta, Waycross (Okefenokee) and St. Mary's. Two of which have established Eagle Rider Groups in Atlanta and St. Mary's. Within days of being installed in this capacity I have begun the formation process to open up two new Eagle Rider groups in Waycross and Gainesville, Ga. Doubling the number of Eagle Rider groups in Georgia. My interaction with the VentureRiders and the F.O.E/Eagle Riders has resulted in hundreds of new friendships with great people because of the participation in these two groups of like minded motorcycle ethusiast. Because of my experience and sincere appreciation of both of these groups I wanted to share this information with you. I hope that you check out this organization, visit an Aerie in your area to participate and join if you find it a worthy organization as I have.

  22. I've never used the CB in the 2 years I've owned the RSV and haven't used one in a vehicle since the 70s. In about a month I'm taking 3700 mile trip and thought I might want to use it for road and weather conditions. So do MC riders have a channel they monitor or do you have to put up with all the trucker chatter interrupting my music?
  23. Just saw the local news, and there was a venture and another bike that was hit by a pickup. The riders were killed. Does anyone know these people?
  24. I don't know if this has been put up already, but my cousin posted it on Facebook and I thought it was worth passing on, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--92lbsY2T0]YouTube - NRA Life of Duty Patriot Profile -- Patriot Guard Riders[/ame]
  25. A little bird has informed me that the North Alabama Road Riders have had their first fund raiser for St. Jude and they feel they have this thing in the bag. The bird didn't tell me how much they raised but I know it was a multi-family yard sale, and I know those things can pull in some dough. We are doing ours by our St. Jude Auctions and money raised by other members and the main contribution comes from Vogel. So lets not let them beat us at our own game. They are a small group of around 35-40 members , and they are all concentrated together in Al. That makes it easy for them to do things together. So anything you members can do to help beat this ragtag little group of wing riders, bring it on.
