  1. Hello Everyone: Last weekend, Graderman46 and I escaped for a short ride. Dan rode his "Work Bike" stock 06 RSTD. We stopped about 20 miles north of town and swapped bikes. It was interesting to finally see my own bike from the rear. Made me appreciate the lighting improvements. By the time I got back to town, my neck was on fire!!! I was missing my Flanders Bars, Butler seat mod. and Utopia backrest. Dan got to test ride a modified bike and compare also. Sure is nice having friends!!!!!
  2. Ok guys, so when do we have our first good ride planned? I'm getting antsy sitting here all couped up. It doesn't help that my better half decided to give be a really nice birthday gift and told me she doesn't wanna be by better half anymore. I figure a good ride with some of my friends here should help me get my mind of that and back to where it belongs. Ridin' is great therapy. Bill
  3. We went for a ride this Sunday started out about 41 degrees @ 9:20 when we left, finally got to 61 degrees by the time we headed back towards home. We wound up riding over 500 miles got home at the last glimmer of sunlight. Was a good day could have used a Taller F4 windshield but it beat sitting here waiting to hear that I won. Just a few pics. http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63478&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63479&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63480&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63481&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63482&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63483&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63484&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63485&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63486&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63487&stc=1&d=1326774095http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63488&stc=1&d=1326774261http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63489&stc=1&d=1326774261http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63490&stc=1&d=1326774261http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63491&stc=1&d=1326774261http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63492&stc=1&d=1326774261 http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63469&stc=1&d=1326773001 http://http//www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63469&stc=1&d=1326773001http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63470&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63471&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63472&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63473&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63474&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63475&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63476&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63477&stc=1&d=1326773406 http://http//www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63469&stc=1&d=1326773001http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63470&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63471&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63472&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63473&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63474&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63475&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63476&stc=1&d=1326773406http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63477&stc=1&d=1326773406
  4. I'm usually one of those nut jobs that insists on riding the bike in any temperature provided the roads are free of snow and dry\free of ice. So it was 19 out when I left for work this morning. Jumped onto a frozen stiff seat. The mustang seat on my volusia would do this in cold temps as well, but was never more than a less comfortable ride. With the pillow seat of my RSV, it was a major pain in the a$$ in more ways than one. Not only was it not the usual comfy ride it, but it resulted in me being about an inch further from the ground than normal. Being just shy of 5'7, that extra inch really put me on my tipy toes. I hate winter.
  5. I owne and ride 35000km a year mostly two up, on a 08 Concours 14, but my wife received knee replacement surgery and we decided for the adventure to continue that a more comfy ride was needed, so I purchased a 1991 Venture Royale with 106000km and will receive it next week-end, I also purchase a 1983 VR, stripped the bike completely for parts(mk1 and mk2 have alot in common but some parts are different), this site is really full of great expertise and helps me plan on making my new ride as efficient possible. I will change and inspect parts defective, all fluids and grease where needed. Based on my reading, special attention and replacement of front forks springs to progressive, new steering bearing, fork brace and my favorite 'brakes, I tried and really dont like the linked brakes system and would like to delink, plus my right rotor is fried blue and needs replacement and will upgrade to R6 Calipers witch I got a pair in the garage. I figured finding a pair of rotor would be easy to find because on my C14 I have spare parts like, complete forks and brake parts, exhausts etc. All bought on eBay and really cheap. Surprise no front rotors and worse no new rotors, except the Chinese whom have 282mm but only 5mm thick and ???quality. There seems no compatibility except certain early VMax or Fj, but nothing offered, those rotos are rare to say the least. Anybody with a mk2 right rotor. Mike
  6. I have a copy of Ride Like a Pro (RLAP)IV and V DVD's, so I don't need the RLAP IV and will put it up here for anybody who wants it. FREE, but they have to agree NOT to copy it, and to pass it along for FREE to the next person after a short viewing sesson.... maybe two weekes???? The sender pays the postage, NOT the recipient, so no money changes hands, this will keep it all leagal!! Please request the DVD in this thread, and the first requster please PM me your snail mail address and I'll mail it to you for FREE!!!!! Then the process will repeat..... How cool is that???
  7. Hey All, just wanted to say a Big Thank You to Freebird for all he does, and for allowing me to post my bike for sale, even though it is not a Venture. Since joining here years ago I have always liked this site with all the wonderful people. No matter what I ride, I always feel welcome here, and it is truly because of the ones in charge, so Thanks Again Don. Later-

    Biker Babe

My Granddaughter, the cutest biker babe I've ever seen and she LOVES to ride!
  9. Now just what is it? Well I spent some time to make a spice rack for my wonderful wife,,, she wanted it for a long time,, but it involved cutting wood and that is not my specialty,,, but I done IT. Now of course the shop is all dusty and my Scamper is sitting there all covered in dust,,, not really all that bad, but bad enough to need a cleaning,,,,, sooooooo what better way to clean the dust off than go for a ride,,, SO I DONE IT. Didn't work so good, so maybe I have to try IT again, and ride a little longer and faster.
  10. Well i decided to take one of my 2 new bikes out for a good long test ride today. Went over 200 miles and the bike ran flawlessly, minus the rear master cylinder seizing up and almost burning out my back brake. Only got 34 mpg though.
  11. i saw a 1999 rsv for sale here in peru IL for $4800 has 65.000 miles on the clock. a few scratches on the left side? owner said it fell in the garage. and hit some tools hanging on the wall. i just want to say this is my first time on a second generation. and i was rusty on the slow turns. yep i duck walked it in a u turn. i must say for a nice day 52 out i enjoyed the 2 mile ride. allfull trustworthy guy. i did leave my car keys and my car at his place. this bike did make some kind of a chirp noise in 4th at 60 mph? maybe i was lugging it? not sure. i dont have $4800 but if i did im just not sure if the bike is worth that price? but i did enjoy my little first ride of 2012.
  12. If anyone is interested, I currentlu have aqccesws to a supply fo heavy duty terry cloth gloves which, in my opinion, are excellect for washing and/or polishing your ride. Imagine the Ove-Glove without the rubber inserts... $3.00 a pair plus shipping.
  13. Since many of us are winter bound and looking forward to riding again, I found an article to wet your riding appetite. If you can't ride then at least we can plan for the next ride. It turns out I have been on 2 of the article's chosen routes (#7 and #2). I definitely want to check out some of the other routes too like the Million Dollar Road. Personally, I think 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff through Oak Creek Canyon is on my top 5 best routes but not listed here. Also Mingus Mountain through Jerome AZ was another one for me. What is on your top five list as the best routes you have motorcycled on over the years? http://motorcycles.about.com/od/placestoride/ss/The-15-Best-Motorcycle-Roads-In-America.htm
  14. Well, sent out an email to 30 local riders to join in on a New Years Day ride. Sunday moring 11 bikes showed up. Weather was great in the high 40's. Left Albuquerque and road to Santa Fe for lunch and conversation. Returned via The East side of the Sandia Mtns, through Cerrillos, Madrid (Wild Hogs Movie Fame) and Golden. Stopped several times to enjoy the New Year and great weather we are having after a couple of 1 and 2 foot snows. Glad to be able to start the new year off right as we try to get together at least one weekend a month to ride in the area. Can see a great riding season on the horizon this summer. Hope to post, up coming weekend trips, so anyone in the area can join in. Any way Happy New Year! 2012 riding season has started.
  15. Hello Everyone: The 2011 riding season was the most active season for us thus far. Dispite almost losing our bike in fire in March, we still recovered and rode 7,000 miles. We have had so much fun this season! Cody Rally, Sturgis Rally, Saratoga WY ride, Hot Springs SD run. Ft. Collins CO ride. We are so thankful for the memories and friends that we made this year. What memories do you have??
  16. It was about 60 degrees when I got home this afternoon and just had to go for a ride. I put about 50 miles on the bike and with me filling it up on the last ride with no ethanol and the cool temperatures, the bike rode like it was straining to be let go. Several times I cranked it on from about 3,000 rpm's to about 8,000 rpm's in 1st and 2nd and it was all I could do to hang on. It really felt strong. I lacked about 200 miles putting 10,000 on the bike this year. I know I would probably have been close to the 12,000 miles I put on it last year, but with the eye problems that started in Sept that eventually led to the loss of vision in my right eye, it set me back during what is some of the best riding here in east Tennessee. As tough as this has been for me, I know that there have been others on here that have had a tough time also. There have been some bad crashes that could easily ended in loss of life. There have been other things some have to deal with. This has been a good year also. I went to my 1st Maintenance Day at Freebird's and had a ball. I met some great folks and was able to share all that with Linda. We have taken some beautiful rides and camped at over 5,000 feet on the Blue Ridge Parkway on a night that was so dark and clear that there must have been a million stars shining. I was blessed with an overnight stay with Aussie Anne and Al and also from Rocket. I know there are going to be some serious challenges coming in the next year and I hope the best for all of us. RandyA
  17. Intend on taking a ride this Saturday 12/31/2011 (49 deg. & sunny) and Sunday 1/1/2012 (55 deg. chance of rain) . Will be a good way to end this year and ring in the new year... Besides the temps are gonna drop monday with a high of 34 ... You can guess whats gonna happen next. S%#W! %^$%&^%%&
  18. Anyone else have plans to attend the last ride of the year eat and greet in Stockton Alabama? The wife and I plan to ride over for the day, never been but sounds good. http://www.thelastrideoftheyear.com/
  19. Was there a thread about 2 weeks ago about getting a ride up for the Keys some time in the early spring???? If so, who do we need to get in touch with?
  20. Looks like we are getting good weather here. Going to take the bike out on a Christmas ride!
  21. Passed a 2000 Millennium model about 1:30 PM , he was headed west on County road 442 while I was headed east. Anybody here? If you ae local I would like to meet you maybe for a ride.
  22. I jumped on the bike this afternoon and took it for a quick ride down to my buddies place. It is only about 7 miles away, so I didnt put on the chaps, just threw on a stocking hat, gloves and my columbia winter jacket. Temp was low 40's, so it wasnt too bad. At about 80 mph on the highway my legs got cold though (no lowers). But that little ride sure did perk me up. I dont think Ive ever ridden a bike here in SD in december. The sun was about right here at 3:30 so I thought I'd snap a pic with my phone. I thought it turned out really good.
  23. Hello My Brother in Laws Daughter Elizabeth age 25 found out Sept 25 2011 that she has stage 4 lung cancer. They are going to have a benefit ride for her called Cancer Schmancer in the spring. 24. Hi all, I'm a proud new owner of a awesome 2000 mm Venture, 3500 miles, this thing is sweet. I traded my Raider on it because I can never get a ride in without the wife. I love the Venture but I need pipes,I'm talking pretty loud. What do I want and where do I get them.
  25. Deka gelcell delivered $99 I tried to start the Venture and nothing, not hardly a click. After a quick search I found that Skydoc 17 (Earl) sold batteries. All the reports said that the Deka was a good choice so I called and Earl had it in the mail on Monday. Wednesday it was in the bike and I was enjoying a short ride - would have been a longer ride if I didn't have this doggone flu. Thanks Earl
