  1. I've got this Farmsaw, built by Pioneer in Peterborough ONT, somewhere around the early 80's. I really don't need it, but I thought to clean it up, get it running and then sell. It's the orange one, not the yellow model. SO here's the issue. When I got it, it wouldn't turn over, but with a little persuasion that happened. It doesn't fire or even bark. It has spark and a new plug. The timing is right on. I cleaned the carb, and it gets fuel. Get about 60 lbs compression on 3rd pull, 25 on 1st pull. Decompression valve works. I tried to inject some ether,, I know, that's bad, but it won't bark on that either. I'm out of ideas, so now it's up to you guys.
  2. What are you driving? So when the weather is not cooperating what do you take instead of the bike? Here is my Hot Rod. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh180/sootshow/021.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh180/sootshow/014.jpg [ame="http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/hh180/sootshow/?action=view&current=017-3.mp4]http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh180/sootshow/th_017-3.jpg[/img"]Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdSQuNp5AjQ]Afton Sled Pull 2.6 Diesel - YouTube[/ame] Dynoed just shy of 500HP and over 1000TQ. Daily drive, sled pull and drag race with it.
  3. I know everyone mostly is useing the Flanders handlebars to up grade there bike. A buddy of mine saw these,Baron Custom Accessories 1 Inch Touring Handlebars. on CruiserCustomizing and is thinking of trying them. The ad said it gives 2 1/2 inches more pull back than stock. but the pull back is 16 1/2 inches. Seems to me that that is the same as the stock bars. I think I'll stick with the Flanders myself, but Id like to find out so my friend doesn't cost himself a bunch of money thanks in advance Blacksmith

    Clutch ????

I have notsed that my clutch lever has been getting less free play "for say." So I was thinking it is time to change the fluid. Did that about 3000 miles ago. Now it started it again. Went to the steeler, thay changed it again. Sed it didn't look good. I told him I just changed it. He didn't know what the problum is. Sed try it and see what hapens. Is this why the the ventures are having clutch slip??? under power pull the clutch intill it starts to slip. Mine startes to do this with very little pull of the clutch lever. Now after new fluid I can squese the lever about 1.5 inches befour it starts to slip. Is this some thing we should be watching for???? Or do I still have some thing wrong????? Thanks For all the help!!!
  6. 2006 RSTD 3500 miles I am second owner. Bought it in Jan 2011. Went on a ride a couple weeks ago rode almost 200 miles no problem. Go to dinner for about 2 hours and its getting cold outside. Get back to the hotel and go to park the bike, back it in then go to put it in gear and it stalls. Pull in clutch won't start in gear... find neutral starts fine put it in gear to pull forward a bit and it stalls. Try this several times and give up for the night. Next morning works fine no issues at all. Fast forward 2 weeks.....wash the bike and dry it.....go for a short blow dry ride and pull back in my driveway do the final wipe down and go to start it and pull in the garage same crap starts again. Won't start in gear but starts fine in neutral. Put it in gear at any rpm and its like someone turns off the key the bike stalls and won't start in gear. WTF is this issue and how do I fix it? Frustrated!
  7. I have started to notice that at idle and only when hot, a dry metallic type rattling noise is coming from the area of my clutch cover accompinied by a slight vibration. I'm thinking clutch but before I pull it apart I am wondering if this could be an indication of more issues that I may find inside. Anyone Else ever run into this?
  8. I've had my 09 RSV for about six months now and love it, but I'm not sure if I'm just not good at shifting or if there's some other problem. It seems like if I really rev up the engine right before shifting, and then quickly pull the clutch and twist down the throttle, it shifts pretty smoothly without any clanking noise. Putting it into 1st gear always clanks and even 2nd gear clanks a bit if I pull in the clutch and slowly shift into gear. 3rd also clanks a little if I pull the clutch and slowly shift into gear. It's like I need to rev the engine a split-second before shifting, not to get a clank. How much, if any "clank" or noise should I hear when shifting? I know some of you don't even use the clutch, but I'd rather use it. Can someone give me some pointers? Sorry to be such a newb. David
  9. I have determined by testing and using a jumper wire that my 83 VR has a bad wire from the switch to the first junction behind the headlight. Running a second wire is no big deal but wanting to do a good job of it, how do you get the switch out of the casting for the master cylinder/lever. I have taken the "bracket" loose and everything is good to pull the little section of old wires out but it appears that the wires do not unplug from the switch and I need to get the swith out to have a better look (switch shows as part number four on the parts breakdown and is part number 26H-83980-00-00 - sells for about $35.00) Any help? Steve Neal
  10. Have just installed a Triwing trike kit and would like to find a "Leading Legs" kit. After just getting the bike back together, I don't really want to pull the front end apart to have the trees modified. Any ideas?
  11. Ever think that gambling is pretty much the same way you train chimps. Pull lever, nothing Pull lever, nothing, Pull lever, 5 peanuts Yipee Pull lever, nothing... Wonder if you can train a pygmie?
  12. This guy said he wants to drive the truck..... He looked right at home...... He said he can pull a trailer.... It was great seeing you again Bob...Thanks for the parts......
  13. I have straight risers on my Tour classic. looking to see if anyone has a pair of venture risers they have taking up space in thier garage. The venture risers pull the bars back an inch., Even if I got the riser exenders it will only make it 1 1/4" high not back.
  14. Hey Guys I new here my nephew (17) and I have been buying selling old Barn n Garage finds for the last 5 years done 4 total frame up restorations mostly cafe racer and choppers. Back in 80 a Drunk Driver went left of center and hit me head on on a 2 stoke 750 Kaw, in a wheelchair but still get up and work on motorcycles just about every day no kids so I get to be cool uncle tom the "Biker" Anyway we picked up a an 83 Venture Royal , and an 83 goldwing, think I'll just give the GL a detail and flip, The Venture Royal not going to do a full restoration, but going to pull most of the aluminum and chrome, Buff it all out. and a good detailing Any one know where I might find some exploded drawings of this bike so I could get an idea what I am getting into Going to try saddle soap on the seat, but passenger back rest is torn any one got one of those ??? 15. http://www.sarasotatrailers.com/uploads/Siesta%20Full%20Page(2).pdf Has anyone looked at one of these in person? It's caught my interest enough that I'm almost ready to pull the trigger...
  16. Come on by and watch me.... After spending most of the winter taking on the 2nd gear issue and having lots of ups and downs we finally got the bike back together. Hooked it all up with exhaust etc.. Lots of help from folks on the site.. Like Dingy, Dano and Skydoc. Mostly Marcarl.. Anyhow it started right up BUT it makes an enormous racket while in neutral. Goes through the gears fine and quiet in every gear but in neutral it sounds like a metal playing card on bicycle spokes... Looking like I have to pull the motor again which is a BIG job for my limited skills and then chase down the problem and re-assemble. Down time with not riding is going to kill me... Anyhow does anyone have any suggestions as to what I did wrong? Wayne
  17. With a little time to spare before work today I decided to start the job to pull the final drive and lube the drive shaft. In a matter of two hours I was able to pull the tire, remove, clean, moly and reinstall the hub. Pull the final drive and drive shaft clean her up, moly it and reinstall it. I was pleasantly surprised how easy and quick it was. Guess I’ll be putting this job on the yearly to do list.
  18. My wife and I are on vacation, and just pulled into my daughter's in Mufreesboro TN.--500 miles more to get home. The last couple of days, I've been hearing strange noises from the rear end and brakes, mostly from the rear end when you decellerate moderately and the rear end is hot. I put in on the center stand and this time (I"ve checked it several times) I felt side to side plaly in the rear wheel. When I pulled the cotter key and tried to tighten the axle (I also loosened the axle cinch bolt) I found it was about 1/2 turn loose. I tightened it and still had the play. I decided to pull the rear wheel and see what's wrong. I can't get the axle to move. I usually just put a phillilps scredriver in the 2 holes on the right side and twist and pull the axle right out. This time I can't budge it by turning it OR hitting it soundly on the left side. I've got the cinch bolt completely out, and I've driven in a wedge to open up the axle clamp. It won't move. I've read here where one guy had the axle worn apart. I'll be mine is started down that path. How can I get it out???? Frank
  19. Installed Earl's clutch upgrade today and I wanted to give him a big THANKS; The parts arrived promptly and the installation went smoothly. There was more oil in the clutch cover than I expected. I recommend placing a Gen 1 on its side stand, not the center-stand. Not a big deal, I was going to change the oil and filter anyway. The upgraded clutch set-up needs a little more pull on the handle, but, my clutch no longer slips at full throttle, and the clutch action is more linear. My Beast runs hard now!
  20. Soooo, another silly clutch question. With the bike idling, I hear a knock from the engine, that goes away if I pull in the clutch. Sometimes, when you turn the bike off, it is a very hard knock. Obviously need to look at my clutch. So question is, does anyone know if this is indicative of a clutch bearing, clutch basket, or just a bad clutch? And from reading some of the tech articles, do I need to pull the engine to replace a clutch bearing? I am a little confused on that one. The bike is an 86 Venture Royale, with about 70,000 miles, if that matters. Thanks everyone for the input. Kevin
  21. Its been a wet year here and very cool. this mess started off with a guy getting his farm equipment stuck in a field about 2 hours north of here. They brought in tractors to pull him out and it looks like things snoballed from there. I gotta think the backhoe guys didnt have a sniff at what they were doing. Brian
  22. I am looking for the rubber pull tabs to keep the side covers secure for my 84 VR I looked at bike bandit and other bike places but cannot find those pull tabs anyone have any Idea's. TOM
  23. Any help appreciated the radio on my 08 RSV locks up randomly - can't change stations or enen shut it off for that matter. Only thing that will do anything is the volume dial. Until I pull into the dealers lot and park then works normal! Frustrating! Ken!
  24. I have found a good camper trailer to pull behind my bike but the trailer weighs a little over 500 lbs loaded and I can get it for a good price. My Question is: is this too heavy to pull behind a 1200 cc motorcycle. Has anyone pulled this heavy of a trailer before? Is it safe????
  25. I'm headed back to GA and my pull cable on the throttle just broke. Anyone near here? I'm going to try and hook the push cable to the pull side.
