  1. I have noticed that we have LOTS of visitors...Welcome!! For those of you visiting, this site is an awesome place to get information about your bike and share others experience with their bikes. The information about anything and everything from accessories, where to get em, maintenance and how to do it, paint, pictures and just general bike talk can be found here. I visited this site many times to get help with maintenance stuff and a big Thank You to the guys like Condor, Freebird and Goose to name a few who have taken the time to explain stuff to newbies or guys that just want to avoid taking their bikes to a dealer or shop do get some very expensive repairs that they could easily do themselves. To take full advantage of the site only costs you $12 bucks for a whole year, I made that up on the first part I bought and membership allows you to see the pictures the guys posts that have worked on the same parts. I changed the needle valves on my 96 RSTC and the parts from a dealer and many online stores were about $36 apiece. Using this site as a resource I purchased them online from OBB in a 5 pack for the same as it costs for one! My reason for posting this is not only to thank the guys that spend their time posting to help others but to keep a great site going strong! Become a member! Remember there is strength in numbers and in brotherhood! Great Riding!
  2. Someone drove by and inquired if I was interested in selling my 76 Chev Luv (156K miles). It is in really bad shape. Has a cracked head and has been parked for 15 years. I'll attach some pictures. The only thing I know about parts vehicle is that I'm looking for a 90 to 93 1st gen for parts for about $500.00. If readers could give me their opinion I'd appreciate it.
  3. After having internet issues today, here finally are pictures from Sunday! We had a great time! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/2012/SleeperhawkMechanics%20201201%20NC%20ME/
  4. Happy New year Everyone: When I first joined almost two years ago I did not have any issues posting pictures. Then just about Cody time, I tried posting pictures of my completed Harley Trunk install on my RSTD. Many of you had helpful suggestions, but I was still unable to post before Cody. I got busy and neglected to try again until this weekend. I am stuck in the house do to the winter cold and I am "ON Call" and cannot go very far. So I made more attempts at the file uploads and they finally worked. For those that would want to look around in my albums. Their are good pictures about several popular upgrades. Flanders Bars (Before and After). DMY aftermarket trunk install with Wompus Rack. Harley Trunk install on the same Wompus Rack. Bar end weight idea and my own invention of adding a spacer to the RH side to allow for a "Total Grip" when the Crusie is on. Grippy Puppy pictures. Along with pictures of several local friends and VR members that I am honored to call my FRIENDS.....Mark:)
  5. As another year winds down, I just want to wish all my VentureRider friends and your families a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. At my house, we could find some things to complain about I guess but I would rather focus on the many things that we have to be thankful for. We don't do the exterior decorating thing but I did get the tree up last weekend. Let's see some pictures of all your trees.
  6. hi everyone! im taking off the heel toe shifter on my first gen. kinda sloppy. i bought a toe shifter and bracket off ebay. can i get some close-up pictures off how its mounted? is it adjustable? thanks for the help.
  7. Soo, Carl did it again, surprising wife Marca with a party! He didn't get the 60 volunteers he hoped for but came close. We sure had a great time and it was fantastic to see friends again. Besides Marcarl, there was Wizard765, Relic, Brad T and NaughT, The Count, XJ1100 who I didn't get a chance to say hi to, Chubby Checker, Moe, Yoopie, Gail minus the tall and bald one (HalRSV99), Gary N., and Midicat, of course all with spouses except Gail, but she brought her mother in law. There were a few others as well, and I'm probably forgetting a member or 2 so my appologies. Anyway, per Carl's request, here's some of the pictures. Other attendees feel free to post your pictures...
  8. I lost some pictures and went through looking for them and came across some pictures of some of my great friends and fellow members.... do you reconize any of them, besides the Icebergs and me?
  9. Strange pictures poping up on post, most are of a yellow 1st gen............Is everybody else having the same problem..............?????.
  10. If you have children or grandchildren you NEED to watch this. I had no idea this could happen from taking pictures on the blackberry or other smartphone. It's scary. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2vARzvWxwY]Smartphone pictures pose privacy risks - YouTube[/ame]
  11. hello any one know much about insurance company called farmers? i just got done talking to dianne seems her friend a co-worker had his honda pacifica stoled sometime over the weekend? he got back home today and his garage was broken into. gone was the motorcycle and a john deere lawn tractor. im thinking some one had to have a huge trailer to do this? well they called farmers insurance about the bike. and the insurance company said he should file it on his home owners insurance policy? that just makes no sense to him . i told him to get some pictures of the bike if he has some and maybe the vin number if he doesnt mind and maybe we can put a look out for it here on this site if thats ok with the boss? he said he,s not sure if he has pictures of the bike but he could call the P.O who put the ad up in craglist way back when he bought it and get a copy of it as it had pictures. now i see why rule of thumb here pictures man pictures. well any help i would be gratefull for. i cant realy help him. much but will try my best. i think he,s getting shafted by farmers insurance i mean after all he paid his premiums but maybe he dont have full coverage on that bike?
  12. OK so I'm a slow learner. I think the attached pictures answers my question but I want to make sure. These pictures come from Bkuhr's pictorial of doing progressives. Am I correct in saying that when installing progressive springs... instead of re-inserting ALL the stock parts, all I need is the spring washer (#4) between the new spring and the PVC spacer (which has been cut to 1") and the cap (#2) and finally the cap bolt (#1) I no longer need the spacer(#3). Have I got that right?
  13. Just curious - has anyone painted the plasti-chrome headlight trim to match the color of their bike? If so, I would like to see pictures.
  14. As always, we had a wonderful time at Vogel! http://venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/happy65.gif It was great seeing everyone, our old friends and meeting new friends! Even our daughter Jacque and her friend Jimmy were able to come and they really enjoyed hanging out with us! It inspired Jimmy to get his bike out when they got back to Huntsville and they went on a 100 mile trip into Tennessee! http://venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/whistling.gif We might even see them on two wheels in the future at one of our meet and eats! Here are the pictures we took!! Once again, it was so good to see everyone! http://venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/bighug.gif http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic/2011/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%2020110820%20Vogel/
  15. Lewis, Thanks again for organizing and running the Vogel 2011 Rally. Thanks to Rick Haywood I got the Killboy link for the pictures taken last friday while riding the Dragon. We went up late in the 2-4pm pictures, and back down early in the after 4pm pictures. I have purchased the high res version of this pic for you and should have the link to it soon. Thanks again, Randy
  16. Here are some more pictures of our trip to deals gap on Friday. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2208997538801.2119258.1063337614&l=98b9b37f7d&type=1
  17. Hello, After riding my "new to me" '99 RSV for a few weeks, there was something about the control levers which I couldn't put my finger on. Oh.... that's it.... I have small hands and have now noticed that the shape of the Venture's levers are a bit odd. The designed shape don't really work well for a smaller hand. After searching around a little, I've come up with a solution, get yourself a hold of the OEM (or aftermarket) levers from the first generation Royal Star say a 1996 model. These levers have a different shape which is better suited to a smaller hand, and bolt right up to the RSV's master cylinders. Please see the attached pictures for a comparison. Mike
  18. OK I know Bubber wanted the pictures Debby took but I cant remeber if anyone else that was with us wanted a CD of them. Somehow I messed up and have some pictures from our Leakey TX meet on there so you will have to delete when you get the CD. EVERYONE PM me your addresses and name and Yes Bubber I lost your card..I should have given it to Debby.Anyway Ive got 6 CDS copied.
  19. I know it is early but..... Pictures?
  20. Couldn't make it to Cody but down the road from me was the 16th annual Bikes and Bods event so I went there. Here are a few pictures. I was more interested in the Bods then the Bikes.
  21. Sorry to the person I'll leave nameless who said they don't do pictures, you should of told me before I took all the pictures and not right before the group picture. Had a good time talking and meeting everyone again. Picture wouldn't download, says because security reasons?
  22. OK, I listed my Sportster in the other bikes category with the intention of adding pictures this weekend. But now I see no way to edit my add to add the pictures. ?????
  23. A few pictures from Eureka Springs. Went on a short ride today and got caught in the rain. Fortunately it didn't last long. Then there were the two KIDS who had to play with scooters. Thanks all who arranged this meet. Having a great time. Will post more pics later.
  24. For years I used a Cannon AE-1 film camera that I have from 24mm to 405mm lenses. I took a lot of pictures and felt I had a great deal of control of the pictures I took. Now, I have an L110 Nikon digital that takes good pictures, but even with all the different settings the camera has, I feel I have very little control of the camera. It also frustrates me that the camera does not always respond instantly to when I push the button. I must admit that I like the immediate view of the taken picture and the ability to load the picture on my computer and view it and send it around the world very quickly and the ability to delete the picture without burning film. But, I am still not happy with the general use if the Nikon. I hate to kind of "dumb down" on my photographs, but that seems to be the trend on many of the digitals. Do others also have this problem? RandyA
  25. Can anyone recomend a magnetic mount tank bag for my 09 RSV? I need it to hold my phone, wallet, glasses and small odds and ends. If you've used one with sucess I'd appreciate pictures! Thanks!
