  1. Tina and I are headed to springville on saturday to look at a motorhome and we were wondering if anyone in the area could recommend a good restaurant where maybe we could have a small meet and eat. I know that there are people in the area that LOVE to eat. (especially ice cream) any takers ? I know I said the magic words so no stampedes please. Thanks Mike
  2. Going to order a Kuhmo 165/80-15 next week to begin the journey to the darkside. Going to give it a try. I think I've read that some people use a 155/80-15, if so, why? Glenn
  3. Stopped by a local dealer. He had two rstd's on the floor...a red one and a two toned black and ?...I loved the red one and red is my least favorite color..... SWEET..really light compared to my rsv...I think I may be getting myself into trouble????...Taters if you read this , this is another BIG TOM...not the one you know:whistling:................................... see we are two different people....
  4. Shamelessly stolen from 1 of the billion places that have this posted. How many VR members does it take to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb then post about it 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could've been changed differently 1 to move it to the Lighting folder 2 to argue and then move it to the Electrical folder 7 to point out grammar/spelling errors in post about changing light bulbs 5 to flame the spell checkers 3 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue whether it's a light bulb or lightbulb 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is Lamp 15 know it all who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb is perfectly correct 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take the discussion to the lightbulb forum 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 36 to discuss the dangers of changing light bulbs without a professional opinion 5 to post a disclaimer that they are not light bulb experts, nor do they play one on TV and that anyone planning on changing their own light bulb should consult a professional 7 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then to post the correct URLs 3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add, "Me too." 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 4 to say, "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 13 to say, "Do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs." 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again 1 attention whore to try to change the topic of the thread to them 1 person to say how lame we all are for talking about light bulbs 7 people to post motivational posters about any given topic (including rainbow panda or motivational poster about said attention whore) 6 people to ask for pictures of the light bulb 8 people to point out if someone was dumb enough to buy that brand of light bulb they deserve to have an issue 4 people to say OP paid too much for the light bulb 8 people to post just a smiley or lol 2 people to quote every post/picture and make you read through everything again 1 person to post an image too wide forcing everyone to have a horizontol scroll __________________
  5. Don't want to start anything but if any Ohio members are able to help a family grieve in piece my friend a Marine sent me this Family of Fallen Marine Hero Needs Your Help!!!Share Yesterday at 11:15am Please read the note that I received below and help if you can! This Marine faught and died for people like the ones described below to have the right to protest. This being said, I feel we have a duty to shield the family from these types of people. Please read the note below and join me either on the procession path or in the Human Wall! Here is the note that I received: "Last week, October 20, a 22 year old Marine from Painesville Township was killed in Afghanistan. He is coming home today. Saturday is going to be his funeral at Zion Lutheran Church on Mentor Ave in Painesville (across from Lake Erie College) at 11 am. The funeral procession on Saturday will leave Monreal Funeral Home on Curtis Blvd in Eastlake, travel to route 90, go to Vrooman Road and go North on Vrooman Rd. The procession will go left on 84 to drive past Riverside High School where Lance Cpl David Baker went to school. They will continue past the school going west on East Walnut (84) and continue through to Mentor Avenue. They will then turn East on Mentor Ave (Left) to go to the church. The funeral procession is expcted to leave the funeral home between 9:45 and 10am Saturday morning and to arrive at the church Saturday by 11am. Here is the part that really just frosts me. I dont know how many people are familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS. They have been in the news several times. This "church" has decided to travel to the funeral to protest outside the church during services. They say they protest these funerals because "soldiers are dying for the homosexual and other sins of America. God is now America's enemy and God Himself is fighting against America". That is a direct quote from their "preacher"-a man named Westboro. He is known for preaching messages about homophobia and anti-Semitism. This family is going to the church to grieve for their son - a son who died far away in another country doing what he felt he had to do. Whether you believe in the war or not, he died and his family is grieving. The last thing in the world they need to see as they step out of the limosine at the church is a group of radicals shouting at them and protesting their son and his death. I am of the opinion that, if enough people gather at the church PEACEFULLY, we can form a human wall between the family and this group. They wont have to see them, they wont have to hear them, they wont even need to acknowledge them. They can go in to the church to grieve and bury their son - which should be their only priority that day." I will be there. Will you join me? Buddy (Sgt Raddatz, USMC)
  6. Thought this might be of some interest to some of ya'll. I don't think you have Tim Horton's coffe/donut shops "down south" but here in Canada they are everywhere and almost all of them have lineups whenever you go there. I always wondered why ... always thought "they must be doing something to addict people" ... now I know they do.
  7. I'm near Saginaw, MI tonight...actually I've been here all week. Staying in Birch Run. Tonight I drove over to Frankenmuth and had dinner at the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn. The food was pretty good but I've got to tell you, I left enough food on the table to feed at least one or two more people. Those people just keep on bringing food.....geeezzzz.....enough already.
  8. I know this has all been answered however I would really like some fresh comments for the following: 1. Does having the K&N filters and bubs slip on's require any jetting? 2. On the Bubs site, they only show "BUB Sleeper slip-on mufflers for the Yamaha Venture." Is this the only one that people are getting for the RSV's 3. A lot of people here have said they like the bubs but were too loud and took them off. On the Bubs site, they mention "The mufflers have removable baffles that can be packed to control your sound levels" If this is the case, why are people taking them off instead of adjusting the sound level? Does this procedure ruin the sound? Thanks to everyone that helps me with this. Greg
  9. Everything's changed since March... Did a job with 160 ATMs to reprogram in GA, AL, and CA and squeezed in 3 weeks in FL including Daytona Bike Week and a few days in the Keys where me and my Bro partied like it was 1978 and did some snorkeling out on the Coral Reef.. I also did a day at The Laughlin River Run but it was 105 and no shade trees and the heat was starting to get to me and got to Leesburg Bikefest on the same weekend.. Anyways while riding through the desert on a bike with no name.. I did some soul searching and asked God to show me a sign that he exists... I get home and the Ol'Lady tells me she's moving to NH and that she wants a Divorce after 25 years (she's been talkin about it for like 3 years) ... I said "Yes!!! there is a God!!!" (I even went to church today for the 1st time in a long time) Then... I meet this hot sexy little 43 yo nurse down in NH.. Well you get the idea... Let's just say she restored my faith in womanhood and I now know that all women are not evil... Some are actually quite sweet... Ok I also dropped a lot of weight... I used to be 333 (or maybe that's as high as my scale went) and I'm down to 259 and shooting for 210 and I've cleaned up my act some... I'm also a happier person (some people here will be glad to hear that... ulessed there so pissed at me they won't even read this)... and other than a Stevie Wonder blind joke that rubbed me the wrong way (especially while or Founder is dealing with a potential loss of sight)... I think I've been pretty chilled here... For the record Stevie played at my High School in 1974 when I was a Junior during school we had an assembly and there was Stevie and a piano playing "Very Supersticious" and about 10 other songs and it was awesome... I wasn't even a big SW fan at the time but I was amazed a guy could be so talented while overcoming a handicap that I'm glad I don't have... Needless to say I became a big fan.. Well if anyone's still reading this drivel.. I've met some good people on this site and look forward to seeing them again... At the risk of sounding too cornball like some of the threads I poke fun at... Disclaimer: The above thread reflects the opinion of the poster and your results may vary. Other use without the proper express written consent herein whearas should not be removed under panalty of law... Hey lemme know if I need some more disclaimers and I'll call a credit card lawyer and he can write me a book. Later,
  10. I have a eye on a 1st gen what do I look for so I don't get hosed? He said the 2nd gear was fixed. How could I tell? this what I think I should look for. Cracks in plastic. dash working repair records if available. I know enough to listen to the way people talk and try to decide how much is BS or not. Any help appreciated. Bubber
  11. I know. I said that word but need some advice on this. If I retire I get a Medicaid Card or whatever it is from Social Security. Problem is Warden is 12 yrs younger than I am. It is going to cost me $537.00 a month to keep my health Insurance. It is very good insurance. I have to keep it on me and her to be able to keep it into retirement. I just need to cover her. Does this sound as high as I think it does?? I know people are paying a lot more I just don't have any idea how to shop for something like this. Getting rid of the Warden is NOT A OPTION!!!
  12. 2010 Harleys are on the showroom floor. Whats wrong with Yamaha ? People were looking and pricing and trading yesterday.
  13. These people are good to deal with. Not sure if I got this right. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/ALL-MOTORCYCLE-USED-PARTS__W0QQ_armrsZ1 They have a ton of stuff and some 1st Gen "Go Faster" parts once in a while.
  14. Sept 5th, Is Old Timers Day in Rabbit Hash, Ky. We went last year. There is music, food, and friendly people. Here is the site:www.rabbithashusa.com/ Yama Mama
  15. First off let me publicly thank KiteSquid who lives close by and was good enough to entertain alot of questions over the phone today. I'll also preface this by saying I am mechanically challenged to say the least. I am confused about the method of breaking in my 09 RSV. Thus far, I have been following the Yamaha manual's instruction of not using more than 1/3 of the throttle. However this keeps me humming along at a constant speed of 55 or so. It seems from other reading this is not good for the engine. Alot of people indicate to just drive it like you normally would, some say vary the speed and all agree change the oil at the recommended 600 miles. Any help, thoughts, tips, advise would be greatly welcomed!
  16. This is just a sample of yesterday's sea of chrome. It was the "Miracle Ride for Special Olympics" held at the Polo Grounds in Farmington , CT. Some are saying approx. 10,000 people!! You had better remember where you left your bike!! 17. I want to take a few minutes and Thank EVERYONE that was able to make the M&E this Saturday at McRae's. I can't even begin to tell all of you how much this meant to Lonna and myself. Pretty much everyone knows of Lonna's and my plans to move to Texas. As much as we are excited to get out of Michigan, there is a bitter sweet pill to have to swallow, and that is leaving the people here that we care a great deal about. As quite a few of you know, Lonna and I were kept completely in the dark about the "Quilt" that was being made for us by none other than Marca Norg (The better half of Marcarl) and Robin Higson (Wizard 765's better half) It is a beautiful piece and something that Lonna and I will cherish the remainder of our days. Nice work to Freebird that sent out the mass email and helped the accomplices to totally dupe us. This doesn't surprise me as I have been on the planning end of some very secret projects here on the site The time at the restraunt was fantastic and the staff there took good care of us. I'm guessing that about 70 people showed, we had over 30 bikes in the parking lot and 5 cages. Of course after lunch/supper we had to do an ice cream run, which we did up to St. Clair and bombarded a small creamerie who was very thankful that I showed up with 20+ people. Then we went back to our house....and thats where the antics started up. My sister in laws beau while we were gone brought a triwall box full of wood to the house and prepped for a bonfire. There was the usual BSing and then the "Beverages" were being consumed, quite liberally by some. With all the wood gone and some very good story telling...."Can you hear them now Clarice" we retired, none worse for the wear, but very happy to be able to enjoy the company of others. Sunday morning started with it raining ( I wish the weatherman would get his story strait ) and the last stragglers from the day befores escapade loaded up and headed out towards their domiciles. Lonna and I can't remember the last time we had this much fun. I was so glad that everone made it here and back home in 1 piece. So to Marca and Robin for your tireless efforts with the beautiful Quilt, and all their accomplices, we love you folks. To everyone from us THANK YOU we will not forget this weekend for a long time to come, and for the conspiritors that helped in anyway with our wonderful gift....Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.
  18. I am looking for a reasonably priced set of headlights (I call them running lights) for my bike; I had them on my previous bike and it did make a difference in people seeing me. I have a 2004 Yamaha Venture R/S. Thanks everyone.
  19. just, wanted to thank the one who made this rally and all the meets we have possible. none of us would be together without don. had a great time with him and Eileen this week. two fine people. don hope the new addition to your family works out for you and Eileen. :clap2::clap2:
  20. called randall at hub to touch base...and he said theres a few people there already......some people are anxious to get started i guess..... i think we are going to go ahead and head down later tomorrow afternoon now instead of waiting til sunday so we can get settled in before the masses arrive and want their tshirts and stuff..... we most likely will go back up to lamberts to meet the others for lunch still.

    It's over

My Dad passed away this morning while being transported home. He is at peace now. My brother and his youngest son (18 years old)came out from Tennessee, so Dad met all his grandkids. When people ask what my Dad was like I say he was what most people try to be. He will be missed. If there are motorcycles in heaven he is riding now. Rod
  22. Ok folks. it is less that 30 days to Vogel, I have a small problem and I really need those that are attending to help me, especially if you havent registered or did an RSVP on the calendar, I need a better idea on how many people are coming, because I have to order the t-shirts no later than Friday of this week, and right now I only have 13 registrations confirmed, I know a lot of people said they are coming and will register late, but if I go by the count that I have now, and I order that many plus a few extra, I will not have enough to go around, and if I go ahead an order 100 which is what I did last year and only 50-60 show, I am going to go in the hole for shirts and patches. I dont need to do that because all the profits from these shirts go to the "KIDS" at St. Jude Childrens Hospital. We want to present them with a really nice check again this year from Vogel. So PLEASE, if you plan on coming please let me know what size and color you want, there are 2 colors available, they are purple and kelly green........... This only applies to you if you havent registered or RSVP.
  23. While we were in Asheville across the mountain, we had three crashes that killed four on motorcycles and it appears all may have been the fault of the motorcyclists. There was a 13 year old with a 12 year old on the back of a trail bike came across the road in front of a Jeep, killing the two kids. There was a 40 year old that lost control and in another crash, a 22 year old on a sport bike that was speeding hit a guard rail. That is the basic info given at the moment. My first thought when the first anouncement was made before details was the people from our group going north. Then with the BMW rally here with an estimated 10,000 bikes, I thought about them. When the news guy finally came back and told what he did, I realized it was local people. RandyA
  24. Hello to all of you, I purchased my 83 Venture about 2 months ago after wanting one since 1983. It also took me 2 years to coax my neighbor into getting rid of that old bike of his so I could fix it up and make it look new again. I have always had a motorcycle in the garage from a Honda Trail 70 to a Harley Road King and have restored a few including a 1986 VMAX. Now with the help of this site in a few short weeks I have fixed my headlights, my battery warning light, my fork seals, my springs, and even am on the way to repairing some plastic because of all the great people that took the time not only to figure out what was wrong with these bikes, but actually took the time to document and share the fixes. I am very appreciative of all of your efforts and thank you for sharing your hard work and knowledge with me. I hope some day I can help someone else as much as you all have helped me. 25. When doing a thread, or post, how do you add one from off here?? (did that make sense!) When people ask for advice members sometimes put a reference thread on their post--how???? Thanks
