  1. Hello, Everyone! I spoke with Jeff this morning and he asked me to post a Note on the Forum to let everyone know that he and Margaret and everyone else in the area are doing fine after the storm. They are without electricity, as the utility turned it off yesterday morning around 9 AM, but they do have a generator. They have no land line phone and no internet, hence the request for me to give you an update. BlackJack
  2. Heading to Eau Claire WI to visit grandkids tomorrow morning, have not seen them for a while, just too busy, :cool10::cool10::bighug:
  3. Hopefully the weather Saturday will hold enough for us to get out for a good ride. Anyone interested in going for a ride with us? We'd like to leave in the morning, stop for lunch and home around suppertime.
  4. The last few days, my '99 RSV has experienced a total loss of engine power within minutes of getting underway. No loss of electrical power, but the bike just literally "dies" for no apparent reason, and then starts right back up again. In both cases, after I fire it back up, it repeats the process - dies, starts up, goes for a minute and dies, then fires back up. Then, in both cases, after about 10 or 15 minutes of riding, everything seems fine. This happened about 2 weeks ago as well, but then not again until yesterday morning and again this morning. I took it to my mechanic today (the original owner as well) and he can't find anything definitive other then the rubber vacuum plugs below the carbs on both sides of the bike have a small age-related split in them, so they are getting replaced as soon as they come in (I ordered them from the dealer today). The service manager at the dealership has no idea why this is happening unless he tears the carbs apart, which ain't going to happen - at least not there. But he is calling the Yami Tech Center in the morning to describe the symptoms to see if they have any intel or ideas on this from their database of issues and will call me. So, anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be happening? Could it be ignition related and not a fuel issue? I will be taking it out in the morning to see if I can get it to repeat this issue. Thanks.
  5. Here's a video of the bikes heading out from the hotel Sunday morning to ground zero. Thanks to Blueslover. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJT8_xZ0De8]Heading to Ground Zero - YouTube[/ame]
  6. We love to go for rides with others but it's not always easy to hook up and arrange things. If anyone would be interested in going for a ride with us this weekend, let me know - phone and email are in my profile or just post here. By the way, I'm 46 and Mike's 43. We like to stop for breaks, have meals, enjoy the scenery. We will NOT be taking the highways. We will NOT be speeding more than 10 km over the posted limit (Mike drives for a living, ticket's not worth it). We go for rides for fun, not a speed race. (Had to say it, so many around here seem to love to ZOOOOM and we don't ) We don't smoke but I generally like to stop every hour to two hours max for at least 20 mins to a half hour. I am a morning person, though, so I like to get going early and be back by suppertime so we can feed our dogs though it's not written in stone!! We're considering leaving here around 8:30 tomorrow morning from Dartmouth then to Windsor to Berwick to Chester Basin and back, cutting through on the Aylesford Road. If anyone wants to come, let us know!!! ALL WELCOME!! WEATHER PERMITTING, of course. Here's the route: Map: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=43+Smallwood+Avenue,+Dartmouth,+Nova+Scotia&daddr=Berwick,+Nova+Scotia+to:Aylesford+Road,+Aylesford,+NS+B0P+1C0+(Fox+Mountain+Camping+Park)+to:44.9354618,-64.7129805+to:Franey+Corner,+Nova+Scotia+to:New+Ross,+Nova+Scotia+to:Chester+Basin,+Nova+Scotia+to:44.63474,-63.66345+to:43+Smallwood+Avenue,+Dartmouth,+Nova+Scotia&geocode=FYQnqgIdix03_CnjnjS7TCRaSzF2q5K2f1ZTfw%3BFf1erwIdMjUk_CklPJOktFxYSzGcsoJT1TCJ4w%3BFQKzrQIduoEk_CFYo0Fa-YNw-Q%3BFSWprQId7I4k_Ck7LDoIO0ZYSzGZQf8JYyFT_w%3BFTR7qgIdVEgl_Ck9_psIvDJYSzHzjpqRfFG1ig%3BFfahqgIdNXgo_CmJmAsG0c5ZSzEVkpLkcUswYw%3BFTsAqAIdLbsq_ClFAxhBj9xZSzG3zNNMOZKJsA%3BFXQSqQIdppI0_Cn3CMW90yFaSzEjMdSGFCgaTg%3BFYQnqgIdix03_CnjnjS7TCRaSzF2q5K2f1ZTfw&hl=en&mra=ls&via=3,7&dirflg=h&sll=44.72332,-64.690247&sspn=1.313325,2.425232&vpsrc=0&ie=UTF8&ll=44.8325,-64.151917&spn=1.310844,2.425232&z=9
  7. This for any of my friends who live in San Antonio, I need a head gasket and one of the San Antonio Yamaha dealerships has one, but they only ship UPS. And I need one ASAP and since tomorrow is Friday, it probably won't get here until the next week since they don't work on Saturday. However so I was wondering if I could get one of my friends in San Antonio to pick it up and stick it in a USPS Express Mail Flat Rate envelope and mail it to me. The gasket will already be paid for, so if I can get it in the mail before noon, I should have it by Saturday. And I'll pay you via PayPal, check, it's your preference. So do I have a volunteer? I'll need to contact you with final details in the morning. Call me tonight or in the morning if you can help me. Thanks, Rick Butler (aka Butt Butler) 972-442-9840 Home 214-926-3905 Cell 1304 Taos Lane Wylie, TX 75098
  8. I am passing this on to you all because it definitely worked for me today, and we could all probably use more calm in our lives. Some doctor on television this morning said that the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't finished and this morning I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of wum, a pockage of Prunglies, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valum scriptins, the res of a Chesescke an a box a choclets. Boomer....who sez Yu haf no idr how bludy guod I feel rite now.

  10. north bound on US 49, between Florence, MS and Richland, MS. Traffic kept me from turning around. Just wondering if it was one of us passing through Mississippi.
  11. With the miserable hot weather we have been having, Linda and I decided to load up the little camper and take off to the mountains. We ended up staying at Mt Pisgah Campground, which is about 5,000 feet up and about 25 miles south of Asheville, NC. The temps on that part of the parkway were about 75 degrees and Thursday morning temperature was 58 degrees. We did get into some heat when we went down to Brevard and ate on Thursday evening and again when going to Cherokee, NC yesterday. We had a little rain shower in Cherokee and it cooled off then we headed back up the mountain. We are supposed to have rain tonight and tomorrow and being up there with it being cool and wet was enough for us to come back to Johnson City for the weekend and maybe we will go somewhere again Monday if we can find someplace cool. The only downer was two couples that came in Thursday night and set up their tents next to us and they were loud and about every sentence had the F word and the women were worse then the guys. As we were packing up to leave this morning, I mentioned it to one of the maintenance men picking up trash and within about five minutes one of the Rangers were giving them a little visit. There were several families close by that had small kids that were easily within hearing them. I am always a little anxious pulling the camper as it weighs about 450 pounds loaded. The bike pulls it fine, even up the mountains, but slowing it down quickly would not be fun. Fortunately, everything went good. RandyA
  12. A man and his wife were driving home one very cold night when the wifeasks her husband to stop the car. There was a baby skunk lying at the sideof the road, and she got out to see if it was still alive. It was, and she said to her husband, "It's nearly frozen to death. Canwe take it with us, get it warm, and let it go in the morning?" He says, "O.K., get in the car with it." "Where shall I put it to get it warm?" He says, "Put it in between your legs. It's nice and warm there." "But what about the smell?" "Just hold its little nose." And then the fight started!
  13. I was sitting in the living room yesterday and noticed that it seemed unusually hot. Looked at my thermostat and it had gotten up to 83 in the house. A/C showed to be running but I looked outside and saw that the fan was not running on the outside unit. So....A/C is down. Did what checks I could do but didn't find the problem. Finally called the repair folks and they are supposed to be here this morning. It did cool off to 81 by this morning. Could have been worse I guess. Temps yesterday were in the 97 range with 50% humidity. Now to see what it is going to cost to fix this thing.

Nothing but rain. We all went to Banff for the weekend and woke up to 2 inches of snow yesterday more this morning. Boy am I glad we didn't trailer the bikes. On the bright side, we've been spending a lot of time together. But, what's with the weather?
