  1. Hi Everyone, Need to get some serious repair work done on my seats, or replace them on my Millenium Venture. Am thinking that it would be nice to have the pillow top seats, but the question is, "Where could I get them in tan...to match what I now have?" Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve Lancaster, PA
  2. Does anyone know for sure if the front seat (ultimate) will work with the stock rear on 05 and up. Also, has anyone mated a utopia backrest with a ultimate seat? If the two seats won't match, can you tell why? I know their website says, "no", but others have posted they think they will.
  3. What do you think painted to match and mounted on my RSTD 08???
  4. After reading your thread about the new helmets I decided to go look at new ones as well. In order to get the ones I wanted, I had to buy some other "accessories" to match. Now see what you went and got started!!
  5. Well, here goes. It may get a little bit long, but here are my thoughts. On March 17th I ordered two Scorpion Hat Trick jackets @ $149.99 each. They shipped them on March 22nd, and I got them OK. I was pleased with the price as they were lower than most other sites, and I had looked at the jackets at a local dealer (higher priced) and knew exactlly what I was getting. Last Thursday 04-22 I get an ad from them in my email and they have the same jacket for $114.99, $35 less than I paid, for a total of $70.00 less for the two. So I sent them a polite (I thought) email inquiring about a possible price match. Here is what I sent, and I also added my name, address and phone number: "Subject: Price of Scorpion Hat Trick jackets On 03-22-2010 you shipped my order number 1031756 of two of these jackets. I paid $149.99 each for them. You now have them on sale at $114.99 each. $35 each is a signifigant difference in price. Is there any chance that I can get a price match refund of the $70 more that I paid? If I had only waited a month to order my two jackets I would have gotten them for $114.99 each. Thank you for your consideration of this matter." Yesterday, Tues. 04-27 (5 days later) I got this reply: We do not go more than 7 days for match That's it, that's all they sent. I was not happy with how they responded. It is their choice as to how they establish their price matching policy, but I felt that they were rude and very unprofessional in their response. Following is my reply to their reply: "What kind of response is this? No name, no comment, no thank you for your business. Not even any punctuation. This certainly is not the way to promote your business. This response must be from someone who just doesn't give a damn about this business, only that they get a pay check. I checked as much of your web site as I could to find your written policy for price match against yourself and could not find it anywhere. Perhaps you can enlighten me as to where to find it. Meanwhile, I will post my feelings about your your customer service (and price match policy), and your lack of courtesy, to the motorcycle forums in which I am active. Some of them even list your store as a recommended source to purchase parts and gear, etc. Seems like they must not know the whole story. By the way, I sent my email to you last Thursday, 04-22-2010. Got the response Tuesday, 04-27-2010. Seems like a long time to wait for such a short response." Needless to say, unless I get some kind of positive response from someone in their customer service, managment, or ownership, they will never get another order from me.All this FWIW, and now I feel better. Mel
  6. Looking for some assistance. I am looking for paint source/supplier that is a match the '05 Liquid Silver of my bike. I have a rear spoiler that is black, needing to paint it to match the Silver Grey of the trunk before mounting. Any suggestions? Spray can likely is ideal, but not sure the quality finish it might produce. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  7. Would someone know the paint code for a 2006 RSTD? The paint is Pearl White. Had the O'reilly's man use his paint scanner on the saddle bag and it came up with White Gold?? he said it was not the right color? He said I have the Two stage paint $$. He also used his little color folder as well trying to see if he had a color match No luck so far:(. he said he would keep this on file and see what he can come up with later?. Also asked The local Yamaha dealer for help as well, and they could care less.. one reason why I do not buy from them anymore...... So anybody have a Good Paint Code I can give him?? he said an automotive paint code would be better?? He said motorcycle paint codes do him no good?? I don't now why he said that?? Guess his computer doesn't carry Motorcycle Paint codes?? Reason I'm asking is my Mom bought me a new after market H.D. Fairing for my Birthday last month. And I have a Venture trunk I been saving, glad I dint sell it now. Anyway I want to add these to the RSTD and I hope I get a good color match?
  8. Need a few things like several gaskets, air & fuel filters, etc. Local dealer wants full MSRP and states they won't match prices. Any good on-line sources for discounts on genuine Yamaha parts?
  9. I think it would be cool to add a 2000 MM Roadstar to match my 2000 MM Venture. I wonder if anyone here has both.
  10. :confused24: 1. Should I paint the bags to match the bike? 2. Should I paint the Ivory on the bike to match the Black Cherry? 3. Do neither and name my bike "The Coat of Many Colors"? 4. Anyone interested in the leather bags I took off?
  11. I have locks on the saddlebags and trunk for my 07 RSV but, I do not have the key. These bags were installed after the bike had been wrecked. Can these be rekeyed? Or, locks purchased that match the ignition?
  12. There's a few other threads on this ... just wanted to add more info in case anyone is looking to get some paint to match their scoot here in Canuck Land CMAX, a division of UAP-NAPA apparently does this. Here in Vancouver there is a location at 8555 Cambie St. The beauty of this is, they can scan your paint and match it. This is good especially for older paint jobs which have faded some. Here's a link... http://www.uapinc.com/client/en/pieces-auto/CMAX.html I haven't personally gone there yet or tried this but just thought it would be good info to share. Came across this in a newspaper article. The article went on to say that they can also provide the product in a spray can good for small areas or touch-ups. ___________________________________________________________________ · Article rank · 23 Jul 2009 · 24 Hours Vancouver · DAVE REDINGER NEIGHBOURHOOD MECHANIC It’s easy to match your car’s finish I have often said in this column that today’s cars are complicated and not easily repaired when things start to go sideways. This change in technology has vastly reduced the range of repairs the individual owner can do successfully. One area the owner can still address with relative ease is the car’s finish. Even though vehicle paints have gone high tech, there are services available to help to colour match your car’s finish. We use C MAX, a division of NAPA. The staff at C MAX will scan your paint sample, mix the appropriate match and supply you with an easyto-use spray can. We usually send a painted part of the car for a match; however the scanning equipment is portable and as such can scan the car wherever it is. Advantages of scanning your car with this system are obvious. Paint changes colour as it ages. This system matches the actual colour your car is now. After years of weathering and fading the original formula would no longer match. For more information, call C MAX at 905-602-9083.
  13. I ordered one last evening - it won't ship until June 8th but that's not too long to wait. I was please to see that they offered the pillow style to match the seat. The only info for mounting was that there was no cutting necessary, is it really that easy to install ?
  14. I just bought a set of Billet Passenger Floorboard Backing Plates (STR-4NK27-03-01) from YamahaSportsPlaza. I received them but before opening them I noticed the mounting holes don't match up between the new & stock pieces. According to the vendor, these are the right parts for my 06RSV. I must be missing something cuz I can't see how they'd work without drilling a hole in it, which I'm not gonna do. The attached photo shows the two side by side. Notice how the mounting holes don't match up. Anyone have these? Is this the right replacement part?
  15. There are very few options for matching factory colors on the RSV. ColorRite is the primary supplier for factory matched colors or you can have a paint shop do a custom mix. That is about it; I did find one other company that supposedly had matched colors, but I don't remember who they were, and there was something about what I read that made me wonder if it was really color matched. Anyway, when I needed to repair my saddlebag lid last year I decided to go with ColorRite rattle cans, both colorcoat and urethane clearcoat. At this point let me note that metallic paints are difficult to match perfectly, and any silver or yellow color is the most difficult of all to get a perfect match. ColorRite even warns that the 2005 Liquid Silver paint is "factory variance" color where they cannot guarantee the match. Despite that concern, the initial paint repair on just the front 1/3 of my right saddlebag lid was excellent. The amount of silver flake was perhaps just a tad greater in the new paint, but you had to look extremely close to see the transition. In retrospect I would do the entire lid instead of just the front 1/3 if I was doing it again, since I could not detect a difference in the paint from the lid to the body of the bag. Basically, I was very very happy with the quality of the paint repair on my 2005 Liquid Silver RSV from the ColorRite spray cans. But one year later my opinion is changing. The repaired area has significantly yellowed and now has a very distinct gold shine to it instead of the original silver. Very pretty, but NOT a match for my stock paint! I do not know if this yellowing would show up on other colors, but it sure does on the 05 Liquid Silver. Sooooo, if you need to repair the silver paint, I'd strongly suggest you find a paint shop that will do the job and guarantee the color will not shift after a year or two - the extra cost will probably be well worth it. 16. I was driving pass the local ice joint ,no I didn't stop, anyway there was a Harley sitting out front with a strange paint job for a Harley. What I mean to say is it was not a Harley original BUT it had a first gen truck on it, painted to match of course. I must say it sure made that Harley look good. Gives a new meaning for "Harley look-a-like":big-grin-emoticon: BOO
  17. ---- HANNIGAN ------ Should be Done Next Tuesday! Still needs the rake kit added. Chrome Fender tips still need to be added. I am so very impressed with this kit so far very well designed. Found out they do not even use your main drive at all they do have to send the old one back for a core charge. And the color match turned out perfect I was so worried about that part as nobody has been able to match the MM colors very well in the past for me. Here are a few pics , enjoy.... 18. decided to put this here instead of the middle of the watering hole....... got a call this morning they finally got dna results back........ what they found was something called p3 it is not semen but found in semen........and they didnt get a match..... prosecutors office thinks there may have been a mistake or tests werent right....where else would this have come from??? there are 2 labs here......one is kansas city crime lab and the other state highway patrol.......so they are going to send to send to other lab and get it retested... we are only a month away from the pretrial hearings starting so hopefully they get some fast turn around this time..... I was almost devastated after waiting all this time and then not getting a match on him. so i guess we wait some more and hope for better results this time.... they assured me this wouldnt hurt our case because of his statement and the other evidence.... this really depressed me.......i was so sure we would get some positive results to help put this slime away without question
  19. Got my 2008 Venture home today from her first service and decided to give her a bath. So I removed all the bolts from left saddlebag and turned around to carefully pace the bolts on the ground when I heard the bag go skiding down the driveway about 12 feet. Needless to say my drawers were ruined and after retrieving the bag found deep scratches all over the side and top. Called the dealer and they want $785 for a new one and told me if I tried to repaint it the paint would not match because of different batches of paint. Moral of story: wear old drawers when working on bike, NEVER turn your head to store a bolt, and make friends with a good body/paint guy.
  20. A few days ago I stopped at a Yamaha dealer and was talking to a young salesman about Ventures, and repairing damages to the fairing etc. He said the paint codes (and maybe even the paint) were available from Yamaha and you should be able to paint and get a match. Is this true? Can you actually match up to the original color or do you basically have to repaint the entire fairing if you have some damage from a drop etc? Has anyone tried this? I am looking at a bike that has some scratches and minor damage and would like to restore it to original condition. Thanks.
  21. will the frontfroks off an 89 vr fit on an 84 vr i mean the intire front end will the brake line match up----thanks for all your help---dae
  22. Called 2 Yama shops locally today but got no answer to my question. Actually, I was told parts dept was too busy and to call back. I am wanting to get the Wagner grill from Diamond R, but it only comes in black. I have no problem painting it to match my blue, but I am trying to find out if I can get some paint thru Yama or will I have to go to a paint shop and have it mixed? Anyone know? Thanks
  23. Well picked up my new Truck on Friday and got close to match my RSV. All looks good to me what you all think?
  24. Greetings, Definatley going to order up one of these and I will have this painted to color match the bike. How is the screen mounted? Is it removable for paint? Thanks in advance. hh
