This is my first bike with electronics such as radio, CB, Cassette, etc, and I was wondering if I need to take any special precautions to protect them while riding in the rain? How about any tips when washing the bike? I love this `09 RSV "S" and any help will be greatly appreciated. This is a great site!

If you find yourself passin through or near Lawton Oklahoma, me and my wife would love to show you through the Wichita Mountains and Mt. Scott. Then head over to Medicine Park for some grub!! We also have an extra room if someone rides from far away and needs a place to crash. Just email us in advance maybe a couple of days so we can make sure we are here. Army has me busy 6 days a week so gettin to go far is hard for us to do, but we love to ride. Thanks, Shane n Linda

Hi Folks, I have a real problem. My husband is a Harley guy. He never wanted me to buy my VStar from the beginning. Now because he hangs out with his Harley friends he wants me to get rid of my VStar which I really love. He wants me to get a Sportster, which I really do not care for. I do not think this is fair to me, when I love my VStar. Any suggestions would be appreciated. highwaypeg:crying:

Hi everyone, I also just got around to posting. Happened to come across the site by doing a search for a windshield (made a deal with Marcy btw). So I've already saved the $12.00 membership fee. Riding a 2001 RSV bought used in 03 with 5800 miles on it, paid $7200. Deal of the century, Imho. Go by the name of Cruise57 because, you guessed it I love to CRUISE, but not limited to M/C's, Wife and I love cruise ships also. Looking forward to long friendships and tons of chatter from eveeryone here. Bike pics is from our annual Ride-Across-Maryland, Breast Cancer charity ride, normally 1200 bikes. Coming up end of May.....can't wait. My wife is a 3 year survivor now WooHoo. Whats the best sounding exhaust on a 1st generation venture? I've been seeing where alot of people have been putting on the HD roadking slipons. I would love to here some sound clips if you gotem! Thanks:thumbsup2:

I received this from St. Jude a few days ago.........I was floored, I had never seen one of these before.........Charlene said to hold on to it cause when I have to send you off to your final resting place I want you to be wearing that tie...........Sounds sort of ominous doesnt it..........Gee, I wonder if she is making some plans I dont know about........... But I thought you would like to see this...........the picture doesnt really do it justice.......Its beautiful!!!!!!

OK, so the title is a little misleading.........Had my knee surgery on Wed the 25th. They found a slightly torn meniscus, loads of arthritis and two nice bone fragments floating around in there, occasionally sliding up under my knee cap and causing all sorts of mischief. Well, theyre out, the tear is repaired and I took my first big move today by making it up the stairs to my bedroom all by myself. Im finally getting mobility back in the knee again. Guess those bone fragments locked things up pretty well when they wanted to. One fragment was the size of a fingernail. Only had to take Oxycodone for 3 days. Still have about 85 left..........Should be a heck of a lot more comfy on the bike now. Love my new walker too...........

Dear God The lady reading this is beautiful, classy & strong and I love her. Help her live her life to the fullest. Please promote her and cause her to excel above expectations. Help her to shine in the darkest places and love where it is impossible to love. Protect her at all time, lift her up when she needs you the most and let her know that when she walks with you; she will always be safe. Share this will all the ladies u love. I just did I received this today when I really needed it and thought I would share it will all the other ladies here on the site.

Thinking of dressing up my ride a bit more and came across the Wizard 7-in-1 programmable light set. Anyone familiar with these? Anyone have any experience with these? Just wanted to mention (without rubbing anything in) that today we had a pleasant maximum temperature of 41degC. Overnight it went down to a very pleasant 18degC. Gotta love this Aussie weather. Yes - I did ride to work, in short sleeves. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

After having nightmares and backaches about the OEM seat, an angel sent me a mustang seat with a drivers back rest. It arrived yesterday, immediately put it on removed the passenger seat, sissy bar, windshield and took it up to Virgina City after bundling up I felt the metal inside my thighs and the smoothness of this 4 cyl direct drive machine.. all because this mustang seat moved me up abit and let me be seated in rather than on the bike. I am in love with riding the mountains again I'm 6'2" and this bikes reminds me now why I dropped the KLT and brings me back to the golden olden days of Norton Commando, Airhead but with comfort and reliability L'chaim

I need to clean the saddles on my MM RSV. If anyone could recommend a good product for that job it would be appreciated. Also, just wanted to say that the response I've gotten from the people on this site is fantastic. You people love your Venture's. Hope I end up enjoying mine as much. So far so good.

I'm new here and on board now with Don's help. I have 2003 Midnight Venture now after 2000 red venture was totaled Halloween night 2005. It had 86K on it and would have easily went 200k I think. I bought this Midnight used....it original owner was a good guy I've got to know from Chatanooga Tn. [Cliff Herbert] He's head of Yamaha Marine testing in that area of Tn. I bought this one March of 2006 with 7250 miles on it now it's 52k and climbing. I have a cool 650 V-star Classic hot rod that I love too. I'm 60 yr old and I'm old Yamaha MX rider from 1969-1973. Always liked my JAP bikes and have had Goldwings and others along the way. I ride lots and have plenty of storys and tech experience. I :Venture:was telling Don that I run Avon Venoms and get great Mileage and handling with them...I ran Dunlops,Metzler 880's,and now love the Avons. Will be glad to see what's going on here. Jerryk

Even though I’m riding an Ultra now I still find myself coming back here to see what my Venture friends are up to. I hope you don’t mind. I find myself comparing both bikes all the time. Anyway to the point of this thread. An update on the Ultra and most probable all HD’s, I have finished a few mod’s on the bike and if you ever own an HD you will find this to be true. No matter what you plan on doing it will cost you 1 hundred dollars more then you think it will going into it. Which is where the HD comes into play, HD stands for Hundred Dollars….LOL I love the fact that there's LOTS of extras on the market for an Ultra, which is nice. If you can think of it it's probable available. Other then the money you have to pay for an HD (I'm still getting over that part) I still love it but if Yamaha ever updates the Venture and puts on ABS, Fuel Injection, a better stereo and improves the handling I will seriously look into trading back. I still love the Venture and for the money it’s a great bike. Keep the rubber down. PS: This time of year I wish I was still in TX.

Her Diary Tonight I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a bar for drinks. I had been shopping so I was a little late. I thought he was upset about that but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn't flowing so I suggested we go somewhere quiet so we could talk. He agreed but didn't say much so I asked him what was wrong. He said "Nothing". I asked him if it was my fault he was upset. He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it. On the way home I told him I loved him, he smiled and kept driving. I can't explain his behaviour. I don't know why he didn't say " I love you too". When we got home I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me. He sat there and quietly watched TV. He seemed distant and absent. Finally, with silence all around I went to bed. He came to bed later. To my surprise he responded to my caresses and we made love. But I still felt he was distracted. I don't know what to do. I am sure his thoughts are with someone else. Our marriage is over. There is someone else. My life is a disaster. His Diary Bike wouldn't start today, but at least I got laid.

I want to give a big thanks to Condor (Jack) for coming by today and taking Tom E.'s parts bike away for me. I stole two big, long hugs from Jack and thought of you all and the love that flows through you to the 'family' when were hurting and going through loss. He was kinda enough to listen to me ramble and babble. (and MAN is he TALL! ) Thanks for what you did for me, Jack. It is appreciated more than you can know. There are some really intelligent and smart folk here on this site and I picked up on that when talking to Jack...he is one of the bright ones. He has a nice son, too, who came to help him load the piece. Thanks again, Jack. Your the bomb.
