1. Hello, Would anyone who owns the Diamond R Accessories RSV LED Saddlebag Light Bar be able to eMail me the installation instructions ??? I'm particularly interested in knowing if it is necessary to lower the mufflers in order for light bar installation. Thanks in advance, Mike
2. So I finally decided to bite the bullet and put LEDs for the '06 RSTD on my list for the fat guy in the red suit. He came through, and became the proud owner of the Custom Dynamics 100 LED tail light and a Turn Signal conversion kit. My need for immediate gratification meant that I installed the tail light first.....and man that thing is bright! My next step, and where my disappointment started, was to try out the turn signals. I'm no Rocket Surgeon, but I figured this was going to be fairly simple. Well, after 30 minutes of trying to figure out why the front LEDs would not fit properly, I tried the rears and found the same problem. They had a diameter about 1/16 of an inch too large. My disappointment drove me to send an email to CD, and I was surprised to get a response on Christmas Day. Although Dave from CD said they should fit, I could find no way they could be mounted without screwing up the weather seal or mounting them cockeyed in the lens. Alas, this morning I shipped them back to CD for a refund and am now looking for alternatives. Anyone else encounter this problem? Alternative sources?
3. does anyone have or know how/where to use led pods under the fuel tnk to light up the motor fins there dosent seem to be enough room there but i really want to highlight the cut fins and add that little extra bling:Venture:
4. My buddy is making this device that flashes either a light bar or a 20 watt LED that mounts inside your tail light assembly. What do you guys think is more effective? Do you like the idea of having the LED in your tail light or do you prefer a separate flashing light? Thanks, Ray
5. Hello Everyone: When I first joined this site almost two years ago there were no other local members. The closest member was Zfrebird4 in Fort Collins CO. about 150 miles away. We have have spoken and emailed several times since that time, but did not meet until this weekend. Our schedules finally meshed. We rode over to Fort Collins on Saturday, had a nice lunch with Jack and he then led us the back way around Horse Tooth lake to Loveland where Lee and I stayed the night. We met up again on Sunday around noon. Jack led us to Estes Park, Lyons, Longmont and back to Fort Collins. Jack is riding Squidley's former 86 Venture Royale, what a nice bike!! We headed back home to Western Nebraska with more VR memories. Thanks Jack
6. Trying to figure out a small problem with a LED light. I have power at the end of the wires, I have continuity across the LED poles, but I have no light??!!! Now I am no electrical wizard, but it seems that with those premises I should be illuminated. What's going on, do LED's not work the same way as a regular bulb? Enlighten me please!!
7. I purchased a set of the Doss Teardrop spotlights with built in amber parking light / turn signal. The parking light / turn signal is LED. The turn signal works fine, although it flashes a bit fast, but with my stock rear turn signals all is still fine. That said, the parking light does not work when wired to my stock parking light wiring. Does anyone have experience with these? I am sure my stock parking light wiring has power both through my test light and it will light the LED when wired through the LED turn signal feed. Help?
8. what do you think about these sleeperhawk??http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/Kuryakyn_High_Intensity_Plus_4_5_L_E_D_Passing_L_p/2262.htm
9. Put some new LED lights on my 2009 RSV. I put them right next to the raditor right next to the ferring. They look pretty good they are chrome with 18 lights in each pod. Try them out and see how they work. PS please over look the dirt on my bike Here is the link for the LED lights they cost a whole $14.99 with free shipping. They are coming from China and they are water resistance. They have two colors blue and white. Good Luck sorry it took me a while to get the link on. 10. The wife bought me three 18" red LED light strips to mount on the RSV, which I'll probably mount under the tank rim so that they will light up the chrome in the engine area. Just not sure about what kind of on/off switch to get or the best place to mount it. Any suggestions?
11. I recentlyh purchased the Led slimline light from Daimond R. I'm not very elecrically oriented and I can't tell how to wire it. they recommend under the seat but I can't tell what wires are what. it comes with a brown and green wire, do I connect it to the brown and green wire under the seat. I also just installed the 100 led light from custom dynamic. I'm assuming this isn't too much current for the bike. any help to my ignorance would be apprecaited. thanks David.
12. Hello Everyone: Thanks to everyone who recommended the Signal Dynamics 100 LED tail light upgrade. Mine arrived today. 5 Minutes installation or less. Very impressed!!! This should be the very first SAFETY item added to any bike. Thanks again.....Mark
13. Im in the process of putting led light strips in the rear trunk light bar on my 91 vr. It is already wired for running ,brake , and turn signal. Im replaceing the incandescent bulbs with light strips to save on some electrical draw. Not sure if Ill replace the turn bulbs or not as they are only on briefly. I have arleady replaced the running bulbs with 2 12 inch superbright led strips. Going to replace the brake bulbs with the same size srtips. Here is the Question. Since its already wired for brake lights in there, is there a flasher module I can put inline to make the strips for the brake lights falsh instead of being solid or at least flash a few times before they go solid. Any help will be apreciated. TAhnks in advance David
14. Where is the best place to find a LED rear brake light replacement for an 2002 Yamaha Silverado?
15. Installed 56 bulb LED tail lamp lights on my trailer. Running lights work fine but stop and turn lights flash fast and very dim. Heard I have to install a resistor on stop and turn wire or replace the flasher on the bike to a LED Flasher. Anyone with the best fix and where is the flasher, have searched under the seat with no luck.
16. I've been thinking about moving some lights around as well as replacing my old old fog lights with some more up to date LED night time driving lights. I've found these: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&category=TRUCK&Page2Disp=/specs/wlcwhp10_specs.htm the frontal area of the S25 model is basically the same as my current lights but they are less then half as deep. I am thinking of having these on a separate switch and just turn them on at night when I need/want the extra light. I do have Squid's bracket s to put them on. Anyone have these, and what are your impressions ?? I also have some amber LED marker/daytime running lights under the sidecar which I want to move to the bike and hook into the headlamp/front turnsignals, after which i want to put something like these under the sidecar: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2Fdrlcw8hf_specs.htm#photos I think that if i do all that I should theoretically have enough light up front
17. The headlight indicator in the monitor on my 1983 XVZ12TK is always on when I use low-beam. The headlamp itself is on and it shines brightly, but the indicator in the monitor LCD is on and, of course, so is the flashing red LED. On high-beam, no problem. I want the red LED to warn me of real trouble. I don't want to become so accustomed to its flashing that I ignore it. So, I use high-beam all the time and crank the lamp down with the manual up-down knob to a reasonably level just to keep that annoying red LED from flashing. What I can't figure out is why this should be so. I've changed headlamps, and no change in behavior. If you have a clue, I'd love to hear it.
18. Anyone have any experiences with ebay item 280650803116. $1.20 for a set of 2 and shipping $2.00. 2 24 LED 1157 Car Tail Brake Rear White Light Bulb Lamp 2 24 LED 1157 Car Tail Brake Rear White Light Bulb Lamp 2 24 LED 1157 Car Tail Brake Rear White Light Bulb Lamp
19. OK. Here's what I just did today for additional turn signals. I added a 1 foot long amber LED strip right next to the fairing "eyebrows". Whadaya think?
20. I'm mounting an pole mounted Q-625 Amber Strobe Beacon lamp on the back of the scoot for traffic awareness for our group rides, mainly for Rolling Thunder's long trips. The strobe draws 3 amps. I have an off/on switch to turn off the carb heaters. I can also turn off my passing lamps to conserve battery juice. If I pull the BEERCART, I'll have an additional battery (lawn mower type) tied parallel into the scoot's system for added power. Will I be OK drawing the 3 amps without worry of draining the battery? I plan on getting another beacon later. I just happen to have this one right now and a LED Beacon. However the LED Beacon is less noticeable in daylight. BEER30
21. just pull my trailer out of storage "not heated" and now the 3bulb led lights I added last year are extremely dim. i added these little lights to just the brake light so they act like an extra brake light. worked great all last year and now nutt'n. I checked the connections to the original led brake light wire and it looks good. these were $8.00 truck stop specials so my ?? is can they just go capute. its odd they both took a dump but the origianal brake lights work just fine. any ideas???
22. I would like to install running and brake LED tail lights (I understand they don't draw much power from the electric system/battery, right?) and yet they look very cool to me. I'm pretty sure some of you have done it to your rides. Could you please tell me where do I get those, I know I can google it but, I prefer just follow what you have done. Thanks Rudy:)
23. I know I can replace incandescent turn signal bulbs with LED clusters or bulbs to reduce electrical consumption (draw?). But if I have to add a resistor in order for the "blinker" functionality to work, does the added draw from the resistor essentially cancel out the gain from going with LEDs? Or is there an added draw from the resistor but it's not enough to overcome the gain from the LED? And if so does anyone know what the numbers really are? (for example: incandescent bulb draws 5w, LED draws .2w, resistor draws 1w, so 5w - 1.2w still results in "recovering" 3.8w per bulb - and yeah, I just made up all the numbers.) As you can see I'm not an electrician. Thanks in advance.
24. I know this subject has come up before but I'm bothered that all it took to drain the battery was a heated vest. Have heard the the RSV doesn't have the most robust electrical system. I was in Daytona and saw a vendor selling LED running and headlights. Unfortunately can't find name (I thought I took a card) and it may have been only harley specific. Anyway, other discusions here about LED driving or headlights have talked about interference with radio or CB. This guy said he's never heard of that with his LED lights. They were not cheap - at least 400 bucks for a pair of driving lights but might be worth it to reduce the electrical draw and make a heated vest or jacket practical. Anyone know of LED driving lights out there that would fit the RSV and not interfere with radio?
