  1. Well I finally got my rear sequential LED turn signals installed and working properly. I had them done last year but never got around to getting them put in until this week. Now I just have to get the fronts done. What do ya think? Thanks, Bill
  2. Harrison Specialties, LLC has a three prong flasher for motorcycles/cars that will flash from one diode to twenty amps. Claims that this is in place of flash modules (read heaters) for LED conversions. Is anybody using something similar. My LED conversions are getting faster flash than they used to, so I figure the modules are going bad. I have had them on since 2002.
  3. I would like to mount yellow LED "trunk side lights" to my trunk as additional turn signals. As shown in the following picture on one of the Texas folks bike. My question is how did you get the wire between the arm rest and trunk. I have never taken either off. Since It looks like I'm not going to be riding for most of the summer due to injury (broke my tail bone) and can't sit down I may as well farkel the bike. Thanks ps. To Ponch. Where did you purchase the LED replacement bulbs for your bike? I have spent over $50 on LED bulbs at Autozone/NAPA and am very disappointed in them. They are no brighter than stock incandescent bulbs. Except for passing lights and headlight I plan to replace every light (even dash) with LEDS. Thanks again. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/P6271197.jpg
  4. We all know 90 degress plus high humidity means afternoon thunder boomers. Wife and I were on our way to dinner this evening when we got caught on the interstate in a downpour. We got under an overpass to put on our rain coats. Bike was easily 6 ft from the white line. Getting ready to saddle back up, a car vears across the white line. I yelled for Penny to get out of the way. She later told me she though I said some one had a blow out. At that particular overpass, the concrete did not slope up to the bridge above. It was a wall. I started to run around the wall, just knowing this fool was going to rear end the bike. At about 30 to 40 feet from the bike, he swerved back into his lane. As I watched him go by, it was an old (80ish year old) man and his wife. I think he was having trouble seeing in the heavy rain and was going to pull over and saw the bike at the last minute. Had the flashers on plus the LED strip under the trunk and the LED tail light. Got back on the rode and made it safely and mostly dry.
  5. OK, I am really confused on this. My new bike has the extra lights which are set in chrome all over the back of the rig and a simple switch to turn them on and off, which works fine. I was replacing it with a rocker switch that has an LED (so it now needs it's own ground). When I flip the switch the on/off functionality of the switch works fine but the LED only goes on for a brief moment before the switch engages (basically just flashes on then back off). Any thoughts on why this LED wouldn't work. For the supply I am using a blue wire that comes from the fuse box. The load is the one I am assuming goes to the lights. I ran a ground wire right to the negative terminal of the batter, do I need a different ground point? I also went and got another identical switch in case there was something wrong with the rocker I bought first. Thanks!
  6. Does anyone have a clear taillight lens they would be willing to sell? I can't find just a clear lens. I am planning on purchasing an led taillight from radiantz or custom dynamics, and would like to get a clear lens to go with them. I realize clear alternatives makes an led kit that comes with a clear lens, but it has no license plate lights like the others, so I don't want that one. 05 RSTD
  7. Anyone have these installed? Could you post pictures is so? How do they install? How long did it take, etc. I would like to get a set but would like to see them on a member's bike as opposed to the Diamond R site's pics! Thanks! http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=RSV/RSTD LED Saddlebag Light Bar
  8. Looking for a plug and play LED board for a 2008 Venture. Saw a Canadian link a while back but can't find it now! Thanks!
  9. After reading the discussion in other threads about how to make yourself visible I got to thinking about passing lamps. Some of the LED cluster boards that you replace your turn signal and brake light with are very bright and I've noticed the new Audi's have LED daytime running lights that are very visible. So, I started wondering if a LED cluster board retrofitted into a passing lamp would be brighter than existing bulbs? I know they wouldn't be good for lighting the path but they may be more visible. Does anyone make such a thing? Would it be brighter? Dennis
  10. Just came across this site ... fairly new. http://canadiancruisercustomizing.com/
  11. I replaced the tail light with an LED. Simple enuf. Can I grab LED bulbs for the front markers as well? Or does it not work that way when they have to flash? If I replace the fronts and the tail light, how much wattage and Amps will I save?
  12. One of my winter projects was to convert all my running and marker lights to LED. I've got my front fender marker and then four double sets in the rear light bar and then four mini Barons on top of the light bar. That's fourteen 194 bulbs alone. I can see the drop on the volt meter when I turn them on. Wanted to get that down a bit. I stopped at about every truckstop and and independent bike shop I came across looking for housings and light assemblies and never really found anything that would make a clean mount or look like it belonged there. Then I found these guys a while back. www.superbrightleds.com Right out of Missouri, USA! I bought a few LEd bulbs with the 194 type wedge base to try and liked what they did. In fact, I had one out of the first batch that was a bit intermitant and I shot them an e-mail and they sent a replacement the next day. No problem at all with their customer service people. These LEDs have voltage range from 5-14.5 volts depending on the LED type and a full selection to cover about any application. You can select the beam pattern, how wide, on most of the styles and luminous intensity for your application also on most. So I ordered everything I needed to do the markers and will get to the dash lights later on. For under $45.00 I got enough to do everything and that included shipping. A whole $5.00 for that. But I took a pic of the rear bar with only two LEDs in the Barons. Should be able to pick them out easy enough. Brought the red back out instead of that orangish color. Betting that my volt meter won't even flinch when I kick all these puppies on. I paid about .96 cents each for the stock 194 bulbs and $1.99 each for the 5 bulb LEDs that went into the Baron. Just read the spec sheets on the LEDs before ordering. The LEDs are bit bigger depending on the application. I ordered three different types for mine to get them to fit. Now if that ain't a poor man fix......what is? Mike
  13. I know this has been covered many times before. I have a 2000 RSV that I want to wire for my trailer. I have a modulite that I tried to hook up per Freebirds article, but never got it to work. Got it off Ebay a good while back. Might be one of the bad one's that I hear about. The trailer is 100% LED. Do I have to run a modulite? Or, can I wire into the wiring behind the license plate. The trailer is a flat 4 wire LED kit I got from Harbor Freight. If I can tie directly into the wiring behind the license, will I be able to wire in a round 5 wire coming from the bike, and use a round adapter(pictured in attachment) that changes to a flat 4 wire to connect to the trailer? I already have the adapter and have hooked it to my pickup and the trailer works perfect. Brake lights, turn lights, etc. It is a six wire adapter to a 4 wire, looks like it will work on a 5 wire round hookup also. Thanks in advance for any help. Charles
  14. My battery is 3 yrs old approx, and sat through a really cold winter for maybe 4 or 5 months without being started. I thought i'd put a trickle charger on it just to see what would happen. It was completely and totally dead. I let it charge for a couple of hours and just wanted to go see how it was coming along. I flipped the key on and the LED speedo lit up, but then i started hearing some soft popping and the trickle charger was sorta trying to flicker as well, so i turned the key off, but the LED illuminated speedo stayed lit. I disconnected the battery ground, still lit. I disconnected the positive lead and the speedo was stilll lit. It's sitting out in my garage right now I assume.... still lit up. I've accepted the fact that this is a good time to replace the battery, but what the heck is up with that speedo???
  15. Has anyone else tried these lights on a RSTD? Considering getting the stop lights and LED turn signals. I still had a fuse blow and lost the headlights. I have now disconnected the passing lights and haven't blown a fuse since. Looks like I'll be pulling these and looking for a bare/bad/burnt wire. May replace the passing lights with LEDs also. http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm silverdeer
  16. Here are some pitures of the light bars I made for my venture. I used 18 ga. 304 brushed stainless steel sheared, bent and trimmed to fit. The lights have a solid chrome look when off and a 3d LED look when on about a7 hr job start to finish. Also a 2003 starlight trailer I picked up for $250 to day.It has a little road rash but some fiberglass, new LED light and Pearl white paint will be good as new.
  17. I have spent the morning looking through threads on LED turn signal options for my 2000 RSV. I already have the plug and play LED tail/brake light from Custom Dynamics, so am looking to upgrade the turn signals from there as well. I was trying to determine the standard bulb in the back and front turn signals now and couldn't get the bulb out. It's cold here and the rubber housing is like concrete. However, the signal casing indicates "USA #1156 #1157" on the front and back. Looking on the Custom Dynamics site, these appear to be two different bulbs requiring a different LED equivalent. I think that I would like amber on the front as regular turn signals and red on the back that would also double as running lights. Custom also has "New Moon Shinez" white driving lights/turn signals. Are these legal as turn signals if they are white (it says you need the smoked or clear lense cover)? Anyone have these? Earlier discussions on blink rate have talked about using load equalizers front and back but as I understand it they do accumulate heat and do not reduce the current load. Would a "Metric Signal Stabilizer" be a better solution? Suggestions as to what I should order would be appreciated. Thanks.
  18. I got 2 led 1157 bulds for my scoot and decided they are better then i expected.I am going to hold off on the turn lights because the load change on the flasher. I did see you can buy the adapter to get more load but not sure where to put it. Also not sure if i need 1 or 2 load adapters. Any idea thanks Doug that is suppose to be light not tight
  19. I plan on mounting a set of these LED turn signals onto my bike. Either on the sides of my saddle bag or my trunk, I have not decided which yet. They are used on the side of the cabs of Volvo transport trucks as as additional signals. Which means you can go into any Volvo truck dealer to get them. The grey plastic part can be painted to match the color of the bike.
  20. Back off voltage moniter. It uses a single led indacator http://cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=BOVOLT Im looking at this one and the Kuryakyn voltmeter. PROS: Back off is a single LED very little space needed. Kyurakyn Shows accurate system voltage. CONS: Back off only gives you a general voltage range. Kyurakyn is a larger mount and adds clutter. Just wondering what you all would prefer? I want to have my cake and eat it too. No clutter and accurate volt readings.
  21. Has anyone installed these. I have a friend who did and I noticed a couple of the LED lights burned out. Was wonder about the quality. http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm
  22. I purchased an 06 Venture a few months ago and it came with some LED lights in strip form. I connected 4 strips together and wired them to my trickle charger and all were working. I then put them on my bike, found a wire that was only hot when the key is on and wired them in. I connot get them to work. I even connected them directly to the battery and nothing. Why will they work on the charger and not off the bike?? Any and all help appreciated.
  23. I just got some 9" red flexible LED lights from harbor freight for $10 +-. The strip is clear and real flexible. See them here: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=98408 Not sure where I will put them but the price was right. Rod
  24. I had a full day installing an air horn and the Electric Connections LED brake lights. I mounted the air horn on the front of my RSTD on the plactic dirt gaurd located at the top of the forks. just drilled and hole and bolted and it works well. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. On the LED ring lights that mount inside of the rear turn signs had four of the 12 LED's blown! Know I'll I have to take it all apart and return fro a new one. Just my luck. Got the bike all back togetehr and my new spark plugs arrived in the mail!!! I'll save that job for mext week:97:
  25. I'm in the process of installing LED's on my new to me sidecar and am considering tying them as well as all the bike's running lights (LED) into the tail/brake light cirquit after converting those to LED's. I'm installing two (2) 56 LED tail/brake lights, an 8 LED marker light and three light bars with a total of 48 LED's. And finally two 20 LED fog lamps. The bike would get the 19 LED tail light. Assuming that I am not going to exceed the current draw from the current two 1157 tail lights, my concern is that the wire supplying the tail light may not be big enough to pull that trick off any way. Am I correct that as long as I don't exceed my current amps I should be OK?? Hope I stated that accurately! Thanks
