  1. And PUHLEEZE let's not have snide remarks from the 1st genners .... (as if that would ever happen) Just wondering about this ... as we all know, some vehicles come off the assembly line at the wrong time of day or week and turn out to be a lemon. Similarly, certain years of a given run of vehicles seem to be better than others so... What year of the 2nd gen seemed to stand out as a better production year than others? Had the least amount of issues, least number of clutch basket whiners, least number of assembly screw-ups, etc, least number of rear shock early failures and so on.... Do we have any stats on this? Any thoughts from ya'll on this? Something for ya'll to jaw about while I'm away to Kruisn Kootenays to keep ya'll out of trouble..
  2. Being that my left hand/wrist has pins and screws that it will be months before I know how much of it I will regain of it, with massive theropy. It is virtually use less. My right ribs and collar bone broken in several places, my right fingers and arm gets really sore and tired. So when you come accross any 1st Gen that could support me justifing a case to receiving more than NADA $5095. closer to $5750.00 please post here. My 91 VR had 9200 miles and was beautiful. When I get home I will continue. 1) finish the patch order 2) work the thumb switch order 3) work the side cover panel rail bar. 4) turn buckle accessory cross bar. 5) Introduce a new 1st Gen Patch. Thanks in advance Brian

  4. Saw a real nice Blonde 1st Gen outside a church in Moncks Corner Sc this morning,
  5. Where do i find a 2nd gen manual or instructions for removing the fairing on 07 venture? Thanks
  6. OK, here is an odd request. On the 1st gen where the horn mounts to the bracket on the frame there are sets of thin metal strips between the horn and the bracket. I suppose the sets of thin strips are to counter act the virbration. When I upgraded my horns and driving light brackets I tossed those OEM strips. Why keep 'em right? Well I have changed my light brackets again to a different type and I find the need of those strips to hang the horns. I made a couple of hangers from aluminum flat stock but they are showing signs of weakening already this year. Too much vibration. Anybody that has done a horn upgrade that might still have those strips laying around that would be willing to part with them? I think each side had 3 or 4 strips for each mount. Thanks Mike
  7. During Maintenance Day I changed my Clutch Spring, Friction Rings and the Steel Rings. Because of unexpected tire wear I also had to change my tire for a used one to get me back home so I never got to "really see" what the new clutch set up would do. Well I finally got a new tire installed last week and got to see just what the new clutch set up would do. All I can say is WOW. I was advised that the clutch throw would be a bit harder and to be honest that took all of about 5 or 6 times starting out to get used to that, and even then it was not as huge a difference as I expected. Where the real difference came was when I really dropped the hammer and then fast shifted in to second. I immediately found out two things. One, that yes you can get the front wheel of a second gen off the ground. Two, when you do that the passenger will say "what the was that? It whipped my head back", and find several "endearing things" to call you. Now here is the fun part. If, after explaining to the passenger that you just lifted the front wheel off the ground, and, you are lucky enough to have the right passenger, you WILL be told (not asked) to do it again If your clutch is slipping and you want to get performance out of your second gen then I would highly recommend SkyDoc_17's clutch package. You won't just get a grin put on your face. You will get one plastered on it and you will think your face will break from grinning so damn hard.
  8. Well,it seems that Shari decided to have a Venture M&E at the house while I'm on the west coast..:bang head: Scooter Bob and Lady Firefighter showed up and then A1Bummer came over.... The neighborhood will never be the same.... I should have locked up all my 1st Gen parts...... Their probobly having a rummage sale..... Sorry I missed you guys...... See ya in a couple of weeks at Wisconsin MD....
  9. In my thread "My New Thumb Switch Mount" Bongobobny said the my new thumb switch might look like it could fit a 2nd Gen. I know a couple neighbors with a 2nd Gen so for all you 2nd Gen owners if you are interested in a modified version of the thumb switch please indicate so on this thread. It is important that if you are interested that you post so I can get a rough count. If the numbers are good enough my machiniest friend and I will look into it when I return from vacation. Attached are some pictures of the switch on my 1st Gen. I've hooked SW#1 to a set of 1 inch by 2 inch 55 watt Plattium Burners from Walmart. I call them "Can You See Me Now" Lights. My 2nd switch is being reserved for KIC's instructions to activate your garage opener from a 2nd switch.
  10. Anyone here have a stock 2nd gen left hand mirror they're not using? Larry
  11. Was wondering with OEM tire size, how acurate is the 1st Gen Speedo?
  12. http://news.yahoo.com/motorcyclist-clocked-going-193-mph-ny-highway-113500876.html Had to be a 2nd Gen!
  13. Hi folks, anyone know where to find the chrome truss head screws for the chin, side radiator covers and the two very special windshield garnish screws for my '87 first gen? Previous owner hacked mine into rusty little blobs of steel. I've tried fender washers and the like but nothing seems to be as good as the screws that were made to fit. Maybe someone has a stash in a coffee can they would part with? Thanks in advance!
  14. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm a Goldwing owner and not that familiar with the RSV. I'd like to know what are the differences in the later years of the second gen. Particularly in the audio and electronics. I ask this because I want to know if Mic-Mutes works on the most recent model years of the second generation. I haven't heard of any application problems yet but I'd like to know.
  15. Where the Black Plug goes into the hole to cover the 17 mm nut is. Could 1st Gen owners measure the widest open distance to the nearest 1/8 from left handle bar to right handle bar.. The widest opening would be at the top of the oval opening. And specify if MKI or MKII. Thank You.
  16. As many of you already know I started making an auxiliary harness for the 2nd Gen Royal Star Ventures a few months ago. These plug in between the connectors under the seat that connect the main harness to the fender harness and allow you to easily make connections to the taillight, brake light and turn signal circuits for adding more lights or attaching to a trailer harness. I am happy to announce that with the help of some folks here and also over on Delphi that I can now expand the offering to include 1996 to 2001 original Royal Stars, 2005 and up Tour Deluxe, V-Stars and Road Stars. I was finally able to obtain the second style connector used by Yamaha. You can see a photo of the basic RS Venture harness in the Second Gen Parts Classified section. I am sorry to say that I still have not found the connectors for the GEN I Ventures and Venture Royales, but I am still looking. Thanks again to all that have purchased harnesses already and for all of the positive feed back I have received on them. Please do ride safe.
  17. Does anyone know if the 2nd Gen Venture's Handle Bar has changed since the introduction of the 2nd Gen Ventures. I have been asked by a couple of 2nd Gen owners if I could adapt the 1st Gen Accessory Mount Turn Buckle Bar for the 2nd Gen Ventures, and possibly for some of the other bikes in this group. I got to looking at the 2nd Gen Handle Bars and it seems like a very simple modification. If there has been no changes then a turn buckle probably would not even be needed. It would be helpful to know if the 2nd Gen Venture Handle Bar has changed or stayed the same. I've including a few pictures of what was made for the 1st Gen. Obviously the ends will need to be modified to accomodiate the 2nd Gen's Bars, but looking at it, looks very much do able. If you are a 2nd Gen owner and would be interested (non committal) in getting in on a group buy after the mods are complete, please indicate so on this thread. This will help me determine if making a prototype is worth the effort. Also if you are an owner of another bike an would also be interested one for your bike, please indicate the bike model and year. Your response would be greatly appreciated.
  18. I am a planner, I like to always have a strategy in place. This being the case, I know that eventually (in time) if I want to keep riding 2 up with the wife, I will have to go on 3 wheels. Using my 1st Gen as a platform (she only has about 15K original on her) would it be best to do a trike conversion or add a sidecar? I would love to hear the pros & cons from the group. I'm sure each has their benefits, but since I have NEVER owned either I can only speculate. I like the trike look but the sidecar may be more comfortable for the wife. The added storage on each would be great too. & what about towing a trailer with a sidecar attached?? I would love to hear your thoughts so I can make an educated choice based on our needs Thanks
  19. I searched but could not find anything that was first gen related. Can get a steal on a set of tires the rear is the stock 240/90/16 The front that is what I have the question on is a front that is a mt 90b 18 or 130/90-16 Now i have read of these being used on the RSV's with success and the riders liking them but i have heard nothing from the First Gen crowd. Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated. Bags
  20. Found a picture of the first Generation Voyager..just thought I would pass it on....
  21. Does the 2nd Gen Ventures have the word Venture anywhere on the bike. If so could someone send me a picture of one.

  23. I am sure there is a thread on this - I want to mount a serious horn on my 1st Gen - any instructions on this? Ken
  24. Any one here riding a nice looking blonde 1st gen staying at an extended stay motel in Vilano Beach, just outside of St Augustine FL? Me and Jean were hanging out on the Vilano Pier and as we were leaving we saw a 1st gen parked in the motels lot. I did a drive-by but no one looked out and I didnt see anything that would indicate hes a member here. Just wondered.....those pesky first gens are so rare, but to find one actually on the road, well........and I know it wasnt Dan.
  25. I just recived my new backrest from Utopia and I'm just a bit concerned about the measurement back . They say 1 1/2" from the front of the molded drivers bucket. When I hold this in a dry fit it just looks off . Has anyone installed this backrest on a !st gen and is that right? thanks you all.Bill
