  1. As it seems most of the continent has had more than enough snow to go around, I thought it might be a good idea to see if we can get folks to post their best Venture in the snow picture. OOPS!!!! that last one snuck by me...... Brian
  2. is it just me that thinks that 63.00 dollars is high for thesw gas tank grommet covers. I know business folks need to make a profit, but meeza-thinks this is hiway rubbery. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-BILLET-FUEL-TANK-MOUNT-COVERS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414b105f45QQitemZ280432238405QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories http://i.ebayimg.com/19/!Bgdvd5QB2k~$(KGrHqEOKkUEryhRc-oWBLFZC63QGw~~_12.JPG
  3. I don't recall seeing this bike posted here before so I thought I'd set 'em up. Nice tribute to our folks in service.
  4. Folks, I just sent out an urgent email to all our members. It is a request that I seldom make any longer because I felt that we were asking too often. This is a real need though for a wonderful person who has also been one to help others. Now she needs us and I hope that we can be there for her. If you do not get the email and want to know more, please let me know. The posts of this thread have now been deleted and the thread closed. This was done for privacy reasons. You folks stepped up to the plate and I don't even have the words to express my gratitude for all that you do. If anybody was planning to help and just hadn't done so yet and need info as to how, please send me a private message.
  5. Hi everyone, Well I bought a used 04 Midnight Black RSV today. I previously owned a 2001 and I'm glad to have one once again. I look forward to talking with you folks once again.
  6. Noddy (Gord and Laura) from Brandon copied these photos to a disk for a couple folks and asked me to download them here. http://s45.photobucket.com/home/sarges46/recentuploads
  7. Anyone from the greater Atlanta area going to Memphis for the St Jude Ride? Jamie and I will be riding over together and would love to meet up with anyone on I-20 Exit 11. Sleeperhawk & Mechanic, will you guys be going, love to see you folks again?
  8. Teri and I have been here summarizing our rides during this season. Just returned from south Utah where we had the fortune of visiting our folks (her in-laws). We went down through Evanston Wyoming found some very scenic highways to travel.. Utah state highway 150 was delightful, technical and worthy of another ride. Highway 72 was also very nice...great ride. Riding through Salt Lake City on the other hand is not fun not scenic and makes my knuckles white. Pretty much every place we camped this season BC to south Utah we met folks either giving us firewood, Salmon cooked on Ceder boards, fresh fantastic stew, shared their fires with us, great conversation...friendly sharing what they have with out any asking. People just seem to go out of their way to be generous and kind. We both agree we are seeing a change..or maybe we are both finally open to it and we realize how profound the effects this sort of kindness has on us. We have always enjoyed sharing what we have with folks yet have been reluctant to be open to accepting what others would share with us. We realize we have more often than not avoided that opportunity for others to share with us. We have found that Venture Riders exemplify a giving sharing attitude and through our travels we have been very proud to be Venture Riders and demonstrate the core philosophy that we believe Venture Riders values. Our experience has made us both more determined than ever to go out of our way to perform random acts of kindness, as well as accept them. Would be nice to hear of some of those sharing stories others here have experienced. Teri n Erv
  9. http://www.oysterrun.org/ I know this happens every year, but I am more excited this year as I finaly have a scooter to join the fun. We seem to have a few riders out here in the West, maybe we could work something out so we could meet one day. The actual event is offically only on Sunday but folks start rolling into town on Friday. I hope I get the chance to meet some of the great folks from these forums. Bob
  10. Has there been a host hotel(s) chosen yet for the 2011 Int rally next year? I've seen numerous posts where folks have already booked sites at the campground and at the State park but no mention of hotels for the rest of us folks. Larry
  11. These folks have a ton of 2nd Gen Parts on there right now. Check their entire store. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-1300-XVZ1300-HANDLEBAR-RISERS-/200512289941?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories
  12. http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=123462574368803 Hey Brian..or whoever did it! I like the facebook page you started..Darn good idea.I bet it reaches thousands of folks and maybe gets us some more members!
  13. I have been in contact with The Goatkeeper (Dianne) about how James is doing. He's still in a bad way to go as far as their not knowing what is making him pass out. Here is her PM to me with whats going on. "His daughter is down here again, and staying with me. We have talked about the mayo hospital in Rochester MN look at him. The doctors here are ok but puzzled as to what's going on with him? no cancer thank god. Just trouble with blood pressure that drops when he gets up quick or stands to long? Then the headaches come and boom down he goes. I will inform him of your message, if you can, will you post and tell everyone that he's thinking of all of you folks? Thanks Dianne" He's obviously not out of the woods yet, so if you folks want to drop him a PM I know it would help his spirits if nothing else. Send one to Dianne too as I'm sure her spirit needs a lift too. Thanks to all of you that have kept a vigil with keeping James in your thoughts and prayers.
  14. Ok.... Leadwolf56 is sending me the remaining Rally shirts for me to distribute as he is swamped. What I need from the folks that ordered shirts is to make sure that I know you haven't recieved your shirts, and for you to pay Black Owl for the ones you have ordered. Use this thread to let me know who needs their shirts and PM me with your addresses so I can ship them out. I know some of you have already paid for them, I'll get with Russ and see if we can decifer all the gory details. Thanks for your paitence and we'll get you folks your shirts
  15. First pics are in! These are from Columbia PA Thanks to Constantine, Brett and Tara (Mr. and Mrs. Halfwitt are on the other side of the lens). I think the threat of rain kept some folks away but it was great to meet three new people. I hope we can get together again soon!
  16. Folks...I'm working on some shirt designs just for fun. These pictures aren't very good but what do you think of the general concept?
  17. me and a good friend went to fort smith, ar. today, and got lost going and coming. we left at 7 am and just got home after midnite. some how we ended up at the hub and ate dinner. than we stopped in steelville, mo. and picked up my cushman scooter winter project. it was the trip from hell. the folks at the hub are looking forward to seeing our group again and i saw our rally tshirt on the restaurant wall from last year. back to the hub again in 2 weeks. can't wait. bill
  18. OK Folks, Many of you know the shenanigans that went on at MD this year. Kregerdoodle (formerly Kbay) did a great job of punking me and embrodered "Cupcake" on me favorite Navy cap. You can all absolutely trust me in when I say I WILL get Kreg back, and it will be epic....but here's the question for y'all. We all know that some folks have gone through name changes here. There was the time that Black Owl turned himself into 3 headed dog man along the river Styx...or something like that. That one didn't last too long and he magically turned himself back into an owl again (like clash of the titans) So my question to folks is....do I really seem like a "Cupcake" to you I mean dont get me wrong, I LOVE Cupcakes! they are fantastic. I have no problems with my new name, and some are catching on to it and referring to me as it, so should I keep it forever and ever....and yes I am strong enough to be know as "Cupcake" as long as I am on this site
  19. Thought that title would get your attention. Ok for the few people I haven't harassed yet I'll let you all in on what I've been thinking. No it's not as scary as you might think. I talked to Squid now known as Cupcake about next years MD. I thought it might be really cool if we could bring Annie and Quickstep over for it. Also talked to the boss man, since I'd imagine he'd have to get them from the airport. So I asked Annie and she said it was ok with them. So here's the proposition do you all think we can raise the money to get them here? Also it would be really helpful if we had a travel agent. They usually have better contacts then us, but if not I have a few folks that can help me work on the tickets. At this point we don't know when MD will be so we have some time to raise the funds. So if you all are in we can get started. Now I just need to know if you all would be willing. So let the responses fly. Margaret
  20. Maintenance day is so busy that I often don't know who is doing what. I want to thank some folks but am afraid that I'll miss somebody, in fact, I know that I'll miss somebody so if any of you other can help me single out the folks who worked so hard to help others, it will be appreciated. As usual, V7Goose worked his butt off helping as many people has he possibly could. That guy is like the energizer bunny, I don't know how he does it but thanks MUCH Kent. Monty was hard at work helping people with gauge installs. I hardly saw him throughout the gauge. I know that the folks appreciated it and he did a great job. Ponch showed up a little later but I understand also got busy with the gauge installs. You have developed a great product for us Ponch. Thanks much for all that you do. Dingy not only arranged for us to do the Quaker Steak and Lube dinner on Friday night but was also there all day Saturday offering his assistance to anybody who needed it. Muffinman came all the way across the big pond just to work his butt off as usual. Thanks my friend for all your help and for just being the great person that you are. Squidley was running from bike to bike as usual. Syncing carbs and doing whatever else had to be done. I was unsure if he was going to make it this year but there he was. Thank you my friend. A lot of you ladies helped out with getting the food ready to be served. I know that I saw Mini in the kitchen as well as Becky and Lonna. There were others too but I just can't remember who all was lending a hand. So thanks to all and to the many others that joined in to help your fellow riders. I KNOW that I'm missing many. Please jump in here and offer a word of thanks to all who lent you a hand.
  21. I have a 08 RSTD and am only getting around 35 miles to the gallon now I believe I was getting alot better last year? Wondering what is the average folks are getting and what do you suggest? Before you say it already running SEAFOAM! thanks
  22. I am starting to get a bit concerned about the changes happening in here Avatars are going all weird with the likes of kregadoodle, and cupcake Some folks' posting in pink What is happening to the tone of this place???
  23. We went for lunch yesterday from Omaha, NE to Maryville, Mo. Somewhere just a little south of Glenwood, IA we past a bike that at a quick glance, looked like a YELLOW Venture. - Obviously repainted. But, it looked cool. It was going West on the Highway and I was going East so I didn't get a good clear look at it, but the wife and I both say it was a Venture. Then, just 10 minutes or so later I say another one, (I don't remember the color). Very seldom do we see another Venture on the road, but to see TWO of them that close to each other really caught our attention. Was either one of them any of you folks? craigr
  24. Calling all members ...........My daughter Four_Paws99 is looking to purchase a Wii Bundle package Wondering its cheaper in the USA .. if you folks can us locating the cheapest around.... Here its $236 tax included $ 190 just for the Wii
  25. OK folks...it is time to start thinking about a place and date for the VR International Rally in 2010. I know that we will get a ton of different opinions but I'm ready for them....... BUT.... Keep in mind, we need to have folks in the area of the rally that are willing to step up to the plate and put it together. Snarley Bill and his group did a great job this year as have all those in the past who took on these rallies. It takes time and effort to arrange a host hotel, find camping areas, order shirts and etc. So who wants to suggest a place and volunteer to head the planning committee?
