  1. Hey All: I had this sent to me by my daughter....Her Grandfather (My Dad) passed away this past January.....He was a WWII Vet...Seabee...US Navy....South Pacific.... Anyway...this made her think of him...It also honors our WWII Vets who are passing fast....10 min long, but worth it....Honest....Very Patriotic.....A lot of folks these days have forgotten the price paid for our freedom...It is not FREE.... HERE YOU GO: George In Virginia [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2487638612433437293&pr=goog-sl]REVEILLE[/ame]
  2. I've read where several folks recommend the 86-93 bikes upgrade (?) to the jets used in the 83, ie... 3G2-14231-36-00 JET, 1 MAIN (#180.0) from stock 170 4G0-14142-32-AO JET, PILOT (#42.5) from stock 37.5 One in depth article is all full of the improvements it would make to a 1300 engine used in Denver at 5,280 feet... not quite applicable to the rest of us folks. I hear that there's some throttle transition improvement but never see what difference was made to gas mileage or real other changes... Anybody have some more specific info? And is there some prefered compound to use on minor cracks on the lower, rubber carb manifolds?
  3. OK, I did it. a move to the dark side...bought a v-twin yesterday. sorry folks. skidrow

    Moving, Vr for sale

Folks, regretfully am selling my beautiful 89 VR. Downsizing and moving, so it must go. It is listed in the classifieds if anyone is interested. It is a nice bike looking for a good home. I will be checking in on you folks occasionally even after it is sold, as this place and all of you are part of me now. I couldnt stop coming here if I tried. Cant say enough what a great bunch you all are!
  5. these pictures were taken on "mother's day" this month. the location is "matqagorda island, texas", just about 40 miles up the road from me. in fact it is only about 3 miles across the bay, from the "warriors wekend", gathering place. YES folks warm weather came early this year, and with it comes the danger of snakes. i have personally seen these guys swimming from island to mainland, although NOT in these large numbers. going to the beach, stay alert, and stay back away from the "dunes". just jt
  6. I just heard a report that gas costs $10.00 gallon in England. ??? Hang on folks.
  7. I am always going back to this link when I have questions www.gadgetjq.com since I also have a 05' Nomad. Even though John put this together for Kawasaki Vulcans there is alot of useful information for adding the extra items to any motorcycle. I am sure some of you folks have already been here, but for those that have not....happy reading. So check out Gadgets Fix it page... Regards Dave
  8. I appreciate you folks giving me a bit of breathing room to get things working again. Now I'm at that point where I need for you to let me know if I've missed anything. Classifieds should be working now. Thumbnails of images in posts are back. I'm probably missing something but if you see anything, please let me know. Don
  9. A few of us have been continuing the thread on the countdown to 4000. We hit that number Jan. 9th at about 10:45pm. Now we're up to May 2nd and we're getting close to the 5000 mark. We're counting down from 257 at the moment. Please no arguments about the number and whether folks get on here or not. I just think it's great that we've had this many folks sign up. I know not all of them are riding a Venture, but that doesn't matter. I'm betting at the rate we're going it's gonna hit 5000 before Don's maintenance day. That's June. So if you like having fun come and count down with us. Either there or here. Unless someone complains. Then I'm sorry. Margaret
  10. http://www.pd13.com/ hi i know some folks from our northern contintgents Like this one. Don't know if any Ohio , Indiana , Michigan folks have put it on the schedule for some weekend fun an frolick'ing? Thought I'd throw it out there. I plan on attending. Neeed to get me PassPort updated anyhow. LOL.
  11. I'm talking to you folks who have to put your scoot up for the winter. I am just getting over a really bad bout of gout and just today rode my RSV for the first time in 3 weeks, gosh it felt so good to be back on her. I was going NUTZ without riding and that was just 3 weeks. I can't imagine what an entire winter would be like. Actually I lied, I did get a test ride in on Saturday albeit a short one to test my ankle. I live on the East coast of NC and our winters are moderate enough. There have been some cold days and I have ridden 50 to work in 17 degree temps, but for the most part the days haven't been too terrible this past winter. You folks must be going stir crazy. My heart goes out to you.
  12. Chat Party Tonight! Starts when you get there. Ok around 9 eastern time so the west coast folks can try and show up. So Come one come all. Lets see if we can break the record on folks in chat while we're at it. We've never gotten past 17 in this chat room. We can have a hump day party too while we're at it. It is wed. Bring your party hats, party thongs, whips, or whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Margaret
  13. Strange things are happening! I was on the Meijer website to order photos of our new granddaughter. I knew I only had one folder that I had downloaded. When I got on there , I saw a photo of a motorcycle trailer. Well, we do not have a trailer, so I open up the folder and I found photos of this couples vacation to Colorado. The odd thing was this couple own a black cherry Venture. I just wondered if anybody knows them and if they are members here. I know they are Star Members and they live in Texas. They could PM me and I will be glad to explain why I have their photos, but actually I cannot explain it.
  14. Have not read about one in the Seattle area before, but I am guessing there are more than a few of us around that know how to use a wrench and how to work on our Venture/RSTD/other bike. I have the basic tool collection, jack+lift adapter for the 2nd gen Venture, a CarbTune sync tool, and '87 and '07 Ventures with work coming up (brake pads, lower throttle cables, grease the '07 rear hub pins...) and lots of room in the garage for many bikes. Could be my place to start with, somewhere else, or rotate around some. Also some folks around here are ham radio operators and like to fish, so yet more reasons to put off the landscape work and hang out (I am into VHF/microwave contesting/roving - hopefully now by motorcycle this summer). - Mike, K7MDL
  15. Anyone in the South cental Kentucky area? I've often wandered if there is anyone in this area and two separate events have occured that makes me ask. First, I often read the Jokes and Humor threads posted on this site and share with others some of the better ones,(keep them coming folks) when in my local paper there was some of the jokes verbatum in the editorial section. Second, I had a conversation with a lady at one of my customers, about 15 minutes from the house, on her poster of a "Star" customized bike and lo and behold she and her husband love to ride but doesn't know anyone in the area and would like to meet people to ride. Problem solved for her! Anyway, just was wandering if there is folks close by.
  16. OK folks...I am NOT asking anything from any of you because I know that many of you have given to a number of causes here and I know that all of us, me included, only have so much to give. What I AM asking is that you spread the word among any other groups that you might belong to. ANY groups...motorcycle, car, gardening, whatever other forums, clubs, associations you might be part of....please help spread the word about this cause. It truly is a worthy one. I have listed 5 of our VentureRider Guardian bells on Ebay as a fund raiser for Cliffno350's son. Some of you have likely seen posts here regarding his ordeal and I just feel that I need to make some attempt to help. There is no way that we can raise the needed $15,000.00 among our small group here but by spreading the word to other groups, we may be able to help at least a bit. The following is a cut and past from one of the auctions that I just placed on Ebay. There are 5 auctions that are the exact same. Please forward the links to any and all that you think might be interested in helping. The links to the auctions are at the end of this post. If you folks would post this at other forums/clubs that you participate in, that would be great. PLEASE discuss it with the sites owners/officers before doing so just in case any of them might have an issue with it. If you know anybody who would like to simply donate a couple of dollars to this cause, you can have them paypal it to dnelson@axcesswave.com and I promise you that every dime of it will get to Cliff and his family. I do ask that you put "FOR CLIFF" in the comments box when you send a PayPal. Here is the text from the Auctions. I am selling 5 custom cast Guardian Bells with 100% of the proceeds (less Ebay fees if excessive) going to VentureRider member cliffno350. VentureRider.org is a motorcycle site dedicated to the Yamaha Venture, Royal Star Venture and Royal Star Tour Deluxe motorcycles. Though the site is dedicated to riders of these particular bikes, we have members who ride bikes of all makes and models. VentureRider is a family oriented "PG RATED" site basically dedicated to those who love to tour this great country and other countries on motorcycles of any kind. Cliff is one of our long standing members. His son has been diagnosed with Transverse Myelites. This is something that I knew basically nothing about but there is a lot of information about it at http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/transversemyelitis/detail_transversemyelitis.htm Cliff and his wife are great parents and luckily their insurance has covered much of the expense but not nearly all. The issue now is that they need to purchase him a special therapy bike. These bikes are about $15,000.00 and the insurance company has refused to pay for it. You can see what we are trying to buy here: http://www.restorative-therapies.com/ With all the other expenses, Cliff and his wife simply do not have the cash or available resources to purchase it on their own. With this bike, Cliff's son does have a chance of someday walking again. There is no guarantee but it does give him a chance. Folks, I know that if it were one of my children, I would be doing everything that I can to get them the help that they need. I know that I can't, on my own, raise $15,000.00 for them but I have to believe that together we can make a difference. This is no scam. You are more than welcome...even encouraged...to visit us at VentureRider.org and see that we are real. I am the owner and founder of the club and my username there is Freebird. The site is 100% free so feel free to check it out and feel free to ask there about me. We have over 4,000 members and I will be starting a fund drive there also. I had some of these bells custom cast for our members before the holidays. I have a few left over so decided that I would offer 5 of them here with all proceeds going to Cliff and his family. NOTE: I did not say all PROFITS..I said ALL Proceeds. I am donating my cost for the bells. The only deduction will be actual PayPal fees and I'm only saying that just in case we get lucky and some big spender REALLY bids them up so that my fees are beyond what I can afford. Folks...if we could collect $5.00 from 3,000 people, we could change this young man's life. How often do most of us have the opportunity to make a REAL difference in a particular person's life. Let's do this folks...PLEASE ...let's make this happen. The Legend of the Guardian Bell Legend has it that Evil Road Spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where potholes come from?) Legend also has it that the mystery of the Guardian® Bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift. Show someone how much you care. Offer them defense against the Evil Road Spirits! Give a Guardian® Bell and share the Legend of Good Luck it offers to a motorcycle and its rider! 17. OK folks. I want to thank Crash for handling our caps and shirts for the past 4 years. It is not easy to do with the minimum quantity requirements and etc. but he has done a great job for us and I thank him for all that he has done. He has notified me that due to a new job that he just no longer has the time to do this. I will be looking for a new vendor to handle our caps and thought that I would post here first. I don't know if we have any members who are in the embroidery business or not but if so, here is a GREAT opportunity to work very hard for very little profit and folks, it just don't get no better than that. If you are in the business and wish to discuss it with me, shoot me a PM or an Email. Again, thank you crash for the wonderful job you have done for us.
  18. ...of the R/K muffler brackets ready to go. I just wanted to give you G2 folks the heads up if you were waiting to get a set
  19. PITBULL

    my trip

  20. Just wanted to come on and let the 2nd genners know that I have 3 sets of the R/K brackets ready to ship. I haven't recieved emails back from the folks that had been waiting, so these are going 1st come 1st served. Here is the classified ad on the site http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/288/cat/7/limit/recent/date/1157932426
  21. Hey Folks, I have been wanting to talk with all the 2nd Genners who are interested in the Roadking muffler brackets. I have been out for a while and not able to make any since the accident. I have had a few that needed finishing, but they have been spoken for since the beginning of the year. I want to talk about the brackets themselves for a minute. I went to order some more material to make them. I have been using 10 gauge Stainless steel, but the price of it has jumped 3 fold Now I dont want to raise prices as I believe that $40 for the complete set is about as high as can be reasonable expected. I make these for the purpose of pure convienece, there isn't a lot of money in them when it all is added together with buying materials and shipping and whatnot. I have looked into making them out of Aluminum, it's plenty strong enough in the 3/16" thickness and will give years of trouble free service. To say the price of material is a lot better would be an understatement. Tell me what you folks think, I dont want to buy a sheet of Aluminum to find nobody is interested....I await your responces
  22. So I have lived in a mobile home park for the last few years and really decided it was time to get out and make the big plunge to buy a house. I was especially motivated when two weeks ago some folks that I assume to be ex or current hispanic gang members (due to their tattoos) moved in next door. I had already been approved for financing, but I suppose I just was a little scared to take this big step. That is, until I found the PERFECT house. I put in an offer Thursday morning, there was another offer that came in by noon, I put in a counter-offer and I got it! Folks, this house is perfect for me. It has a cottage-feel and would be entirely inspiring creatively. It has a two car heated garage - PERFECT for my pottery studio, and also storing the bike! The yard is already fenced in. So basically Bogie and I could move right in and be perfectly happy, warm, and safe. Now, I still have to go through the inspection process so I'm hoping nothing horrible turns up with that. I've attached some pictures of it!
  23. Do we have anyone living in or familiar with Charlotte, NC? We have a friend (My best friend's widow) who is planning to relocate to warmer climes and is looking at a development called "Sun City Carolina Lakes" which is just across the border in SC. If anyone knows the area, what are its good points and bad points if any. I know that is a pretty broad question but, have at it anyway. Anything you know about the area will be good information since we know nothing about it. Thanks folks. _________________
  24. Saw this link on another board and thought folks here would like it as much as I did. http://www.jockeyjournal.com/?p=235
  25. I finally purchased a trailer this weekend:dancefool:. I am having it painted to match the 06 Black Cherry, I would also like to have the pin striping put on it too. Does any of you fine group of folks know were I can get the pin striping part # from or the equivilent? Regards Keith.
