  1. well the rally is a liittle over a week away, and i think we got all are apples in one basket. lots of folks coming, lots of plans for a good time, lots of good food, good rides, vendors, great place and hosts at the hub where we are having it. alot of folks are coming that haven't registered, and that is okay. we got you covered. i sure was lucky to have the folks that i picked for my committee. i lucked out and got some keepers. cindy has gone out of her way, and worked very hard on this meet. she makes me feel like i did'nt do anything. thats why i picked her. i want to thank all the folks on the committee and the ones that had to leave because other commitments arose, the moderators , who gave great input. and don for keeping us all out of trouble. by the way don was the one who came up with the design for the awesome t-shirts and patches. rose bud donated the use of the machine to make the name buttons. see you all there and i hope we put a good one together for you. we did our absolute best. see you all at the hub. snarley bill

  4. Hello Friends I have a 2007 RSV and am in need of a truck rack. I can go purchase one on the web, but prefer to buy one from a fellow VR brother if someone has a used one. Please get back with me if you have one or know of someone that has one. P.S. membership fee is in the mail, I've been praying for Don. Thanks in advance Wyoming Tom
  5. Just got back on site today after taking the week riding home with big tom, taters, don and luellen and having a great time-- went to gettysburg, to lancester area, up to the poconos and met up with jonas before he left, lastly along route 6 and finally to buffalo ny area....... Want to say it was nice meeting so many people at dons and putting a face to the names/handles...already looking forward to next year.......might be nice if all members have a picture of themselves as/on their avitars-getting old and tough to keep everyone straight and a face would help....... Now i have to say that meeting all of you and seeing your rides and talking mods, you are all going to cost me money as i see what i want to do to my ride (07 midnight)...and it might never stop-oh well........ Lastly i know that you will all agree that thanks to don and his family is in order as he really opens his home to a bunch of strangers and all the time he puts into the event and site must be enormous--it was a pleasure meeting and talking to you don and you will continue in my prayers-god bless ..... to all members---RIDE SAFE AND BEST WISHES craig (spankym)
  6. This was my 1st MD as well and I had an absolutely great time. I rode down and back with a great bunch of people, and met a great bunch of people once I got there, Many of whom I had often chatted with on chat such as yama moma ( who for some reason I thought was blonde (no pun intended)and wasn't but was definitly a warm and friendly person.Minimuffin ( who I some how thought would be taller ) An obviously fun loving person full of mischief. Lonna whos infamous cheese cakes I finally got to sample (hope I didn't cut into your action to severly Big Tom:innocent-emoticon: ) Squidly Who I found out actually only has 2 tennn ahh I mean arms' who should hire himself out as a professional MC Great job Squidly,Of course Bongobobny was there handing out spare parts a man with not just a golden bike but a heart of gold as well ,And A real big hand :dancefool:to all the guy's working on others bikes ((a special thanks to Carl (aka Marcarl) who helped me out with some of my issues)) they were all just an awsome bunch of guys. Last but not least an Extra Special thanks to Don and Eileen for all thier hospitality and efforts. It was agreat honour to finally after all these years meet you both (And Don somehow I thought you would be shorter but you are actually one tall drink of water, OOPS did I say WATER:rotfl:) ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR EVERYTHING DON AND EILEEN:thumbsup2:
  7. All, OMG where do I start? Mimi & I (Charlie) went on our fist ever weekender and camping trip on the Bike about 900 miles round trip. It is way to hard to list ALL THE GREAT PEOPLE we meet too many too list them all. Some THANK YOU's I must Post: Don, Thanks for everything... Brad, Thanks for Carb Tune "Tweak". Gene, Saddle Bags were Great and You were better (Vet Stuff) Rick, Mimi arrived with a sore tailbone (8-9 hours seat time). After fixing Her 2nd Gen Pillow Seat she arrived home with less stops and Zero, Nadda, Zipola Tailbone Pain. Now the only PITA left is me LOL. She wants to say THANK YOU PS... Don I filed for "squatters rights for 2010 and beyond" under the weeping willow tree. I figure I can rent out the remaining shade and donate to St-Judes. Also the folks talking to the Weeping Willow tree were no totally crazy (Shhhhhh....) Charlie & Mimi God Bless
  8. Here are a few pics from M Day 09 I think it is safe to say a Great time was had by all. It was nice to put some faces with some names. An A BIG Thank You Don an his Wife for putting up with all of us.
  9. just read the sticky for the weigh in for st. jude at maintenance day. brad said the donations aren't going so good right now. being the big supporter of st. jude that i am, i'm going to put out a plea for all you folks that would like to unload a little money for a really great cause, to donate what ever you can afford to. these kids don't know from nothin, and need all the help they can get. i have been to st. jude and it is a wonderful place. email brad or don if you would like to help the cause. bill :clap2:
  10. Hey Don, Now that this is a "subscription site", will the VR Assistance List be changed to only include those subscribed? And what about the total members tally? It's currently showing well over 7K members. Will it only show the total paid members? Just curious. The membership fee now in place would still be a bargain at 5 times the amount. I've learned so much here & thank you, Don, & all the members for making & keeping this site so friendly. I think one would be hard-pressed to find another forum that has the overall great attitude that this one has. Well done. I've yet to actually meet anyone here, but look forward to that happening.
  11. I've been thinking about MD this year. Last year Don and Eileen ordered food for the whole gang that came. I know they had the jar out and I think Don said it came out even for him. But since he's going through this treatment for cancer I have been thinking maybe we can take care of the food this year. All of us can pay so much towards the food and then Don won't have to worry about it. If need be one of us can take care of ordering the food for the day. I'm just thinking of how to make this an easier event for the Boss and his wife. I knew Don wouldn't cancel MD unless he really had to. So I waited and I've talked with a couple of other folks on the site about this. Not sure how we can make it easier for Don but I'm sure with this group we can come up with a plan that will work. I haven't asked Don before I started this thread. Maybe I should have, but knowing Don he'd have said not to worry about it. We could even just all go out to eat though that might get a bit crazy with the size group we'll be having. So let me know what you think folks. I'm hoping not to make anyone mad just trying to find a way to make it easier for Don and Eileen. Margaret
  12. I am wondering if it is possible to take the taillight and add reflective material inside the light housing and if possible would it make the light appear brighter to people following me?? Any thoughts? Don H.
  13. just received dons email about the $12.00 dollar a year fee for the site. what a bargain. i always assumed everyone donated to the site on a regular basis as i do. apparently not. don has done alot for all of us members. think of all the fun we have had, and new friends we have made, not to mention all the advice and info we can get 24 hours a day. now don needs our help and i guess what i'm saying is for all those that would like to, dig down and give him a hand. i know there are lots of members that donate, but for those that don't this is a good time to dig down and do it. i'm kind of going over dons head with this post but i figure it is time to give back something to help a really good person that has done alot for us. bill
  14. OK , not sure where to post this. From my understanding freebird (aka Don) was haveing surgery today. Not in the inner circle yet,(I can wait my turn) but I do still care. If there ias any info please pass it on.I just got home from work and not sure where to look for updates.. many prayers sent up for you Don, david
  15. ECK proposed a ride for Don Benefit of sorts. I don't know that i have the time resources to put one together; but i know someone here does. I,ll do it if need be. Any suggestions???? Let's get the ball rolling...............
  16. If you can read this message, you are now on the site on the new server. Hope everybody gets here soon. Don
  17. If I have it straight, Don goes in for his first surgery tomorrow morning at 11:30am Eastern time. This is just the first step in what could be a long journey for a man that has done so much for all of us. I know that many of you are already praying for Don and his family. But my heart tells me that we can never offer up enough intercessory prayer. Jesus said; And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 So my proposal is simple. Any of you that feel led to do so, please join me in prayer for Don and Eileen tomorow (Tuesday) at 11:30am Eastern. Let's all just take a few minutes out of our day to send up requests to Heaven on behalf of this family. God does hear our prayers and knows our hearts. Thanks so much and God bless you all.

  20. I just wanted to give tazmocycle a little recognition. I posted on here the other day that one of my work buddies broke his throttle on his V-star and asked if anyone had one. Don emailed me that he had one and shipped it to my friend for basically no charge. I would like to give him an attaboy for his help.

    Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to all who showed up at the Houston meet and eat in Chapel Hill. Had a great time, met a lot of new friends, had good food, and fellowship. Need to get the next one planned. Don H.
  23. Ok Don is away for a few days, everybody on this site comments on how much they enjoy the chatter and how the site is a positive in their daily lives. How about we say Thanks by filling Dons "inbox" with a bunch of VR Donations, I am sure he would appreciate starting the New Year with the coffers full, and it would be a neat joke to play on him while he is away, imagine his look when he checks his email to find a 1000 donations!! I 'll start it off, whatever you can spare will help the cause, so please help if you can. Thanks Craig:mo money:
  24. well looks like we made it through another year. we had some downs, lost some members, some of the members hit some hard times, others had some very unfortionate events take place, but we have weathered the storm. why? because we are a group of great caring people. you will probably never ever find another group as close knit as the venture riders are. when don put this together he did something exactly right. i doubt if he thought it would turn out to be what it is. thanks don. i just hate to hear people say they are leaving the group because they bought a harley or some other off the wall bike like my lowly gold wing. it just does'nt matter.thats not what this group is about. we are friends and will always be here for each other. we have a great year of many of events coming up and i wish i could make all of them. someday i am dreaming of being like la pryor, a real free spirit. linda, and i hope to see you all down the road next year. happy new year to all of you. your good buddy bill
