  1. OK folks...please don't make this political..I just thought it was an interesting concept and since I'm 54 years old, it WORKS for me. Now I'm just offering it up in the spirit of fun. I didn't take the time to check out the numbers and all that mess. Don't know if it all adds up or not but I doubt it. This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I thought this was the BEST idea. I think this guy nailed it! Dear Mr. President, Patriotic retirement: There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force; pay them $1 million apiece severance with three stipulations: 1. They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. 2. They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. 3. They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed. All National financial problems fixed!!!
  2. Hey everyone, I have a question about XM radios. If you buy a small XM radio unit can you use it in/on both bike and in car/truck? Would you have to buy two antennas to make this happen? I have an 06 Chevy that has Built in XM that I do not use and was wondering if the antenna could be unpluged from the trucks radio and used on the radio that will be used on the bike? Sorry if this sounds crazy, just would like to be able to use one XM radio for both bike and truck. Dennis
  3. just incase anyone needs another excuse to buy a new bike the sales tax will be deductable on your 2009 return it was a last minute addition to the stimulus bill there are restrictions that I'm looking into and will add to this post when I get them from my accountant:dancefool:
  4. Here's a decent article on K&N Filters. I use them in my bike. Can't really say that I ever noticed any increase in power though. I would still buy them again though because it does save on replacement filter costs. http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/k-n-air-filter/
  5. Has anyone used Twisted Throttle to buy parts. Would you use them again?
  6. Thought I would post this up again - as maybe some haven't seen this post yet. Let's have a NOR CAL MEET AND EAT!! :thumbsup:Though it is hosted by the chapter I am president of, it will be for a very worthy cause - the Contra Costa Food Bank - and it will be a rocking , good old eating BBQ . I hope all you can attend - I am trying to get the pre-registration in ASAP - by April 25th so I know how many hogs to buy. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32600 E-mail me - or PM me - if you have any questions. Thanks everyone, would love to see as many VentureRiders from here as possible attending.
  7. I just a thing in the mail for me to go to direct buy for a open house. I dont know a soul who has ever been there or knows anything about it but they do say they can save you a bunch of money but I tend not to believe til its proven to me. ANyone out ther know anything about these?
  8. Getting ready to buy new tires (front and rear), getting Avons, liked them on my Roadstar so they're going on the RSV. Just wondering where everyone is getting them from nowadays. J&P have pretty good pricing, you join their "club", you get 10% off. It's $50 to join, but I'll end up with about half of that back with the tire purchase. The price is 139 ea on the tires. Southwest is about the same price and Motorcycle Superstore is about the same with the discount offered. Just wondering what people are doing. Thanks
  9. Ron and I went to a Yamaha Open House today, in Fairfield, Ohio. It was a good crowd. They had one 2009 Royal Star Venture in the show room. We saw a couple looking at it and went over to see what was taking place. We told them we have one, and how we really love it. Of course, a Harley guy comes buy and points out about the Ultra has a CD player on it. The couple still bought the new RSV. They seemed happy. They paid $18, 500, but they were happy. Yama Mama
  10. Just posted an ad in classifieds. Looking to buy a black full face HJC helmet. Size XL.
  11. Checked battery voltage and it showed 12.47volts--tried to start but no go--then held start switch on and it started finally. Went for about 100klm ride and had no problems so will go to work and check with battery place after work to make sure battery is ok. If not will have to buy new one.
  12. When Circuit City closed I bought a battery I had hoped would fit my little HD camera but it was the wrong one. Close but no cigar. Soooo, I have a replacement for the CGA-S005A battery available for the asking. Either that or I go out and buy yet another camera that it will fit, like I need another camera... If you can use this send me a PM with your address and I wil send it out to you.
  13. Best Buy Entering Motorcycle Biz: Report Ashland, Ore. — Best Buy may begin selling motorcycles at five West Coast stores this spring. According to a report in Greentech Media, the CE chain will carry a $12,000 electric motorcycle in select West Coast stores starting in May, with Geek Squad workers possibly providing repair services in empty car A/V installation bays. Best Buy may begin carrying the $12,000 Enertia battery-powered motorcycle in May. The bike, called Enertia, was developed by Brammo, an Oregon business that Best Buy’s venture capital arm invested in last year. The 7-year-old company said it designs and manufactures sustainable specialty vehicles and "performance products for the next generation of transportation." CEO Craig Bramscher told attendees at the Pacific Crest Clean Technology Conference last week in San Francisco that Geek Squad agents will perform "level one" repairs on the bikes’ brakes, tires and electronics components, Greentech said. The latter include a built-in Web server, open-platform software applications and possible add-ons like onboard cameras that could download images to travel blogs. "What we're selling is a lot closer to consumer electronics than to transportation," Bramscher said. The Enertia uses six lithium-phosphate battery modules that take about three hours to charge using a standard electrical outlet. The bike is highway legal with a 45-mile range and a maximum speed of 53 miles per hour, and the company is working on a two-seater model with a range of about 100 miles and a cruising speed of 75 miles per hour that may also be sold through Best Buy, Bramscher said.
  14. How can any company, even a Hong Kong company advertise, make and sell a full size vinyle motorcycle cover for $1.66, Buy it now price. I don't know either but I got mine in the mail today. I really didn't expect much when I saw it on e-bay but I figured what the heck for $1.66 I'd take a chance. When it came today just seven days since I pushed the buy it now button I was even impressed with the prompt delivery all the way from Hong Kong, China. When I got it out of the package and put it on the bike I was even impressed with the fit, fabric and workmanship. Gee this time I guess it wasn't too good to be true.
  15. Obviously I have 5 bikes, and 19 before that. Worked on 50+ more, Ridden 75+ How many you got now? What are they? Why did you buy them?
  16. today i was bidding on a brand new 460 progressive rear shock and spring still in the box, for my gold wing on ebay. it lists for $604.00. the best price i have seen was $509.00. on ebay there was a buy now price of $425.00 with $12.00 shipping. i jumped in on the bidding. since i was going to get some sleep. i dropped a max bid in of $250.00. when i signed off i was high bidder at $104.50. any way the auction ended at midnite so i get up and was expecting the other bidders to kisk butt at the last minute. not so. i got the shock for 104.50 plus the shipping. the seller has 100% positive feedback. needless to say i'm flying high on the best buy i ever made on ebay by far. now we will see if the seller keeps his 100% feedback. kind of scary.
  17. Good news if you are ready to buy new Update 02/13/09 at 11.30 am. Our government just announced that motorcycles will be included in the stimulus package. “The bill would let those who buy a new car, light vehicle, recreational vehicle or motorcycle in 2009 deduct state and local sales taxes as well as any excise tax charged in the purchase. The deduction would be available to those earning less than $125,000 ($250,000 for joint filers). It will be an above-the-line deduction, meaning even taxpayers who don’t itemize may take it in addition to the standard deduction. Estimated cost: $1.7 billion”.
  18. hay has anyone out there in venture land bought a ultimate seat. I was looking at on for a road* and would like to get some feed back before I buy. By the way how have you all been doing long time no type. Michael
  19. I'm ready to buy a trunk rack for my '06. Found the following and was wondering if that's a good place to get it & is the price good? http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/catalogs/detail/26/198/398/20151/3/0/0/1/4/90/69/338/trunk-rack.aspx I recall a place being mentioned in some other post that is in the Seattle area that was apparently one of "the best" places to get such things but can't recall the name... anyone able to point me to it?
  20. Has anyone ever purchased one of these for their passenger seat? I was just wondering before I buy one. Thanks http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/124/7664/ITEM/T-Bags-Dresser-Backseat-Bag.aspx
  21. Front brakes on my 89 are due for replacement. I'd like to beef them up. I've always thought they were a little weak. I don't want to put stainless steel lines on as that seems a little expensive. Are there brake pads that are better than others like from Buckeye for instance? Also, my mechanic tells me that when he has test driven it and brakes, particularly with just the right hand brake, there is a surging uneven braking action. I have felt this too. He says that it is because the rotor may be warped. I don't want to buy a rotor but would buy a used one. Looks like they go for about $50 plus s&h. Any ideas? Iowa Guy
  22. Can anyone out there tell me what is the number of the bulb behind the right or tachometer section on the early first gen? It seems mine burned out and can only see half of my dash insruments at night now. I can get it when I pull it apart but would like to buy it first. BTW can that area be accessed by just removing the wind screen or do I need to remove the entire fairing? (again)
  23. There was a member who contacted me last week from the west maybe from Mn or ? about my bike. He said he would be in I believe Livonia Mi. in a couple of weeks and wanted to see my bike. He was going to buy a 2009 RSV but thought of mine since it was so low on miles. Could that person give me a call again 1-734-512-3526 Thanks Joe
  24. does anybody have side panels for an 85 VR the ones I have broken at the contact points or a site to buy?? thanks
  25. When I bought our ATV's in 04 I was going to buy a snow blade for mine.I decided to wait for a bad winter and after 4 years still waiting. Not that that is a bad thing but I was wondering. Do you have an Atv with snow blade accessory. If so what what did you buy? Tractor supply stocks a universal blade with mount but I'm sure there are others better.I need to get a winch to.
