  1. I want to get rid of these brake rotors. They were for the front of my 83 Venture. One is pretty good, the other is not so good but usable till you find something better. Just cover the shipping. First come first serve guys. I am in zip code 46319. Box is 12 x 12 x 5. about 3 pounds. Or just call it $10.00 and I will have them off to you. Email me at 73rallye@gmail.com
  2. Last time out I had to quickly brake. As usual the first 50' there was almost no braking. So I.... Eliminated the anti-dives on my 84 Venture Std. "I've got twice the stopping power." It used to bottom out anyways with the anti-dives. Both levers are not spongy anymore. Brakes almost lock up now. Looking for braided brake lines. I did this before on a 82 Suzuki 1100, same result. Cost=0, Improvement=100% (well much better) Use the single banjo bolt from the anti-dive units to get rid of the brake line to them. Then rebleed.
  3. For those of you that use a brake modulator on the RSV, is one more popular than others? I'm thinking of getting one, along with an RMark LED Brake/Running Light Bar. I see the Kisan Tailblazer is approx $80...also saw one from Comagination.com for approx $30. Just wondering what most people use...thanks for the info...JR
  4. Is the front end just naturally a bit harsh on earlier years Ventures, or should I be thinking it is something else. It had 10 lbs of air in the forks and when pumping them while holding the brake they don't feel all that bad, but on the road it's a different story. The bike just turned over 22,000 miles and is in exc. condition. Louie
  5. I have a 93 Venture Royale and it's very uncomfortable trying to keep my feet on the floor boards has any body moved thier shifter and foot brake forward, or do you have to redue the saddle to move your hinny backwards. Thanks
  6. Does anyone know if the travel trunk wing with the brake light and the travel trunk rack will both fit? I have the trunk rack coming in the mail but would love to have the extra brake light on the trunk.
  7. The other day I pulled the front brake calipers to check the condition of the brake pads and to add a little brake grease at the metal contact points (squeaking at slow speeds while braking). I pushed the caliper pistons slightly backing to the caliper in order to get the caliper to reinstall over the pads. I now find that the front brake lever is engaging much further away from the handle bar grip than previously, and too far away from the grip to be comfortable for me. Can anyone offer suggestions to correct this problem? Thx.
  8. I posted a problem I am having with my 83 Venture awhile back but haven't found a cure. The brake warning light is displaying at times. In the morning when it's cool (40's lately) it usually doesn't come on. In the afternoon after sitting in the sun it comes on within a half a mile. When I hit a bump it sometimes comes on. I have checked the brake fluid, etc. No problem there. I think it is a bad wiring connection or something along that line. So my question is: How do I unhook this so it doesn't come on anymore? P.S. you don't spell "idiot" like I did in the title above. Ronnie
  9. OK,with all the chrome I have on my bike I noticed I did not have Chrome Brake and clutch levers..My Question, where can I get the ABSOLUTE best looking and best chrome and where can I get them? Thanks,Tom
  10. Anyone else have this problem. Just replaced the rear tire to a Avon so because the tire was off I also removed the diff and greased the drive shaft. Anyway when I put the brake caliper back on it seemed fine until it was time for a test ride. The rear brake went all the way down and there was no stopping power at all. So took the caliper back off and could not see any thing wrong. Bled the heck out off it and got most off the braking power back. It just doesn,t make sence because when the caliper was first removed it was just moved out off the way and left until the rest was back together. Oh by the way it is an 08 Venture. Any suggestions.
  11. Saw a rear brake caliper on E-Bay for buy it now price of 300 bucks. If that thing goes I will be tearing down some Ventures and riding 750!!!! I could be a Rich man!!
  12. I followed an old harley home from work last evening. When the guy applied his brakes his brake light came on. He also had high intensity led's that light up inside his red turn signal lenses. Then on his rear bags he had two very bright small red led's that flashed on/off about every half second. This was a real eye catcher no problem seeing his brake lights from a distance. Not sure if his setup was legal but definitely noticeable.
  13. where is the best place ( Service / Price ) to order the EBC brake pads from??? Think I`m riding on a prayer ..... Thanks
  14. I replaced my rear pads and discovered 2 pistons were stuck. Removed the caliper and removed each piston. Had a little gunk to remove from each piston and now it works great. After i replaced the pads i have noticed that they seem to grab and slip a little. Very noticable especially when using the rear to slow down at high speed. Never had this happen with the old brakes. Dont know if the rotor is bent or the brake pads need to set. Any ideas?
  15. This morning on my way in to work, my low fluid indicator light came on, on my 89. At lunch I checked the front fluid level and it was fine. I have no visible signs of fluid seepage at the front calipers and the rear is dry also. Is the indicator light also tied into the rear brake reservoir? I hope that there is a simple fix, I'm not looking forward to chasing wires! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew 89 VR 01 V-star

    Rear Brake Milage 06 RSV

Got a question to all my fellow 06 RSV owners. What kind of milage do you get out of your rear brakes, cuz it seems like every time I need a rear tire ( about 8,000miles)I'm having to replace the brakes also and I think that's absurd especially since the bike sees more open highway then around town miles and I have always been more of a front brake first kinda rider.
  17. My problem is the brake light warning is displayed on my digital readout from time to time. The brakes are o.k. and I don't think they are the problem. Plenty of fluid in the reservoir. It will sometimes come on when I hit a rough spot in the road or when my speedo starts roaring like the old 1st gens do from time to time. Then sometimes it will not display for serveral miles. Has anyone had this problem? I'm leaning toward a poor electrical connection. Any ideas? Ronnie
  18. Hi. I am wondering if anyone knows how I can find out a bolt size, thread size, etc. The part number is 90153-10015-00 and it is the fill plug from my rear brake reservoir... I took it out this evening, and dropped it when it came out of the hole... can't find the dang thing anywhere! Thanks!
  19. I have look in the Tech section but I did not find anything on brake replacement. Can anyone dirrect me to a thread on replacing the rear brkaes? Thanks, Danny
  20. I've looked in several places for the device that lets you convert the turn signals to brake lights/running lights. I'd like to do that and was wondering what some of you that have done this on here would recommend. Thanks.
  21. Can I replace the sight glass window in the clutch / brake reservoirs ? I have one that is rotted out and the others are not far behind. Thanks, Brian H. Uxbridge Ont
  22. 2nd gen.........dot 3? 4? 5? I'm stuck in NC ......I over heated the rear brake while going down hills /w trailer. They came back after the line cooled down. Their is plenty of pad (both sides) but I want to add a little to the resivoir!!! don't want to mismatch!!!!
  23. will the frontfroks off an 89 vr fit on an 84 vr i mean the intire front end will the brake line match up----thanks for all your help---dae
  24. Hello everyone. This is my first post and I will make it quick and painless. I got my bike home from the shop yesterday(from which it remains with rear brake issues but I am trudging through them myself) went to add some fluid to the rear brake fluid reservoir only to run into an issue. The nipple(I'll call it that for lack of a better word) that seats the bolt on the reservoir snapped off the reservoir. If you are familiar with the rear reservoir I'm sure you know what I am describing. I've got the shop in search for a new reservoir (at no cost to me). If it happens that they cannot find one, can it be welded back on, or epoxied or liquid steeled back into place. I know it's not under pressure, but does anyone out there have any experience with this type thing? I can get the reservoir but I have to buy the master cylinder as well and I don't want to go through that expense. thanks in advance. mAm:crying:
  25. 1983 venture. Front right brake = work perfect! back brakes and left front = nothing. Bled the front left, squirts out brake fluid. Bled back, squirts out fluid. Did that for about an hour, nothing. petal goes all the way down. Came here and read everything i could find about 1st gen brakes.. seems others had this problem also.. found there is supposed to be a bleeder up by the forks? took off front fairing. Found what apears to be a valve up under there? No bleeder looking thing like i saw in a pic just a bolt? what the heck! bled that too, about 8oz of fluid.. Breaks still go all the way down.. bled front and back again.. all squirt real good. Brake still all the way down.. no stopage (that a word?) at all when i roll it back and forth. :crying: so 3+ hours of bleeding and about 16oz of fluid and still no brakes? Am i doing it wrong? i have bleed brake on a car before but never a bike, and never a linked system like this.. What do i do next? Help! lol
