1. Sometimes I will get a few drops of oil out the bottom tube after a long ride. Is that indicative of anything?
2. So after hearing everyone say how wonderful these shocks are, 2 months ago I held my nose and placed my order. I was all ready for the 'quick' change out. Old shock off in about 15 minutes (including time to rearrange crap in the garage and get bike up on jack) and as I am lining up the new shock to put it in its place I try to slide the bottom over the part on the swing arm where it is supposed to connect and what do I find? Hmmm. The U part of the bottom of the shock is too small!!! So. I take a deep breath and get the bolt through the top one, thinking I just don't have it lined up quite right or something and now that I've got it all in place (except for the bottom) I am pretty sure that it is just too small. Has any one else run into this while installing their shock? 7 Weeks and 700 bucks later (not to mention the already questionable customer service from the guy that I put my order in with - but that is a different story for a different day) - and this is what I have. I am NOT a happy camper. I hope I am just doing something wrong though... Any thoughts would be appreciated.
3. When I am in a thread and I try to use the mark forums read under the quick links at the bottom of the page, I get the following message. If I use the one at the top of the page, it works fine. Only the bottom one does this. It's happened a couple times now. I can't say this is terribly important. Other links work fine. But I thought you might like to know. Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.
4. Has anybody tried a car tire on the front?? Seeing as the trike does not lean as much, wouldn't a flatter bottom give more grab for turning???
5. Is the top and bottom bearings the same on the fork head on a 83. Had to cut the bottom bearing off. This must of been my problem with the steering not going striaght. Also sould there be a seal on the bottom. Had someone come over to trade bikes. He basicly told me my bike was not worth anything.he had a 99 suzuki 500 and wanted me to give him 1500 plus my venture. thanks Doug
6. I was buttoning up the fairing after several weekends of maintenance and mods and noticed something on the bottom of my passing lamp bracket. There are 2 little squares welded onto the bar that appear to have tapped holes in the bottom of them. This might be a nice place to add an aux light mounting bracket. If no one knows what I am talking about, I will post a picture. Thoughts? RR
7. I have a relay for my passing lamps but I can't seem to find the numbers #30,#85,#86 & #87. It is a 4 prong, 12v, 30 amp relay. One pin has the #38 stamped on it and no other pin has numbers. But if you look at the top with the mounting bolt hole tab on top it reads top left #85, top right #87, bottom left #86 and bottom right #30. maybe I don't have the right relay? Is this maybe how it would be hole mounting tab still at top Top pin #85, Bottom pin #86, left pin #87 and right #30?. Thanks for your help
8. Brad and Lonna...Thank You. Debby is so happy and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Enjoyed the visit and next time..Ride Ride Ride!
9. So I found a good sized piece of grey felt and spent this rainy afternoon "upholstering". Only got the bottom done so far....next will be the top.
10. I want to share with you the Tach Mount that Renne and his buddy made for me. I stopped at Renne's on the day we had the M&E in Minnesota. A thought I had an idea to mount my tach to the RSV. So said to Renne I wanted to pick his brain on how to mount the tach I had and I should him the tach and the piece of metal brought to show him what I was contemplating. Well he says set id down there I gotta a couple of ideas. Well a week later he calls be tells me my mount is done. We were going up to my bother-in-laws and so I had to go right by Renne's place so I stopped and here is what he came up with. (see pictures attached This was the poto-type mount so it is unpolished and anadized or any surface treatment. I am going to start polishing it with fine sandpaper then polishing cream. I will see how it comes out. I be liking it!!!!!!! 11. Im putting together a custom bike from my 86, does anyone know if the bar that runs from the front engine mount back is neccessary? seems like it is there only to hold the side covers down at the bottom. parts catalouge calls it a down tube. thanks for any input
12. I was looking at a Vmax form and some fellow mentioned that there were V4 logo inserts available for the vmax for the Stator and Clutch covers. Mine are missing some chrome so I went and looked and I think they look cool. Now my question is...will they fit my 85 G1? Here is the link. they are at the bottom of the page under vmax engine enhancements page, sorry it wont let me link directly to it. http://www.exactrep.com/acatalog/index.html?http%3A//www.exactrep.com/acatalog/catalogbody.html&CatalogBody Brian
13. I need to remove the headlight assemblies on my 2009 Silverado. I found the 2 screws on top but don't know if there's a hidden screw or a slip socket. The bottom outside corner seems to have something holding it - too expensive to start ripping too hard. thanks - - - -
14. Does anyone make a side-stand extender for the 1st Gens? With my progressive springs, it would be nice to have a little more length. If not, I can just weld some metal on the bottom.
15. Can't recall who posted this, but what a great idea. Cut hole in bottom of standard foam beverage holder, fit down and around fuel filler cap and you are good to go. Leave enough on bottom to tuck around cap. Standard h2o bottle, soda can, etc. fits nicely and does not budge.
16. The part that holds the lid up is loose, The top screw you can get to but how do you get to the bottom screw
17. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who lost a ton of money last year in the stock market. I was down about 30 thousand dollars. I've always heard that you should buy when stocks are low, so I kept buying when it looked like the bottom was just gonna keep getting lower. I just checked my balance today and was pleasantly surprised to learn that I'm back up to about where I was before. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I hope everyone else is making a comeback too.
18. as you can see by the picture i have a new ad-venture that silly better half of mine convinced me that this is a better way to ride? i had a great time and"cearria" is a great horse but my venture sure dont hurt my bottom like this one did ( for 2 days) but i never could find the kickstand.....
19. Started with a plain 5X12 trailer. Added the $30.00 Chock from H/F. Then a Tongue Box from H/F. Really got lucky at AutoZone, Asked about the $229.00 polished aluminum tool box on display. Clerk said "you don't want that one, it is bent on the bottom." Oh Heck YES I want that one, whatcha want for it!!!??? Manager says $120.00. Ya think I could pass that up? Added a spare on the rack and new radials on the ground.
20. Calm down guys it's not what you think. I got my tank bra from Troy Savoie and I deleted the email with the directions. It looks pretty simple but mainly wondered if you use any type of adheasive. Looks like you take the existing trim on the bottom of the tank and replace it with the new trim.
21. As some of you may know I have been fighting the busted trunk bag problem for a couple of months now and am close to having completed (purchased used bottom on e-bay for $200.00, having to dismantle the backrest, replace the broken bracket welded to fram for bottom screws). All that is left is to attach the frabrecated bracket to the bike frame and put the screws through the metal and rubber plates in the bottom of the trunk bag. Just learned today (after reading a reply to a post from last week) that this is a Yahama recall and they will fix (don't know if they just furnish the plaltes or replace the trunk or what but am taking the busted bottom and license receipt to the local dealer to see what is involved). Just wanted to alert any other 99 owners to check with a dealer first if you have this problem (wish I had checked first).
22. Just an update on the continuing saga of replacing the broken trunk bottom on my ride. I was able to secure a matching bottom from e-bay (with the help of FreezyRider). It was listed for $400.00, I offered $100.00 and purchased for $200.00. Ordered the kit for the new bottom which is just a metal plate for the top and a rubber one for the bottom. I JB Welded the metal plates to the inside and went about removing the old trunk. Lesson # 1, remove all screws and bolts that you can see first. We ended up taking the speakers apart becasuse we did not realize the screws holding the brackes for the inside net pocket also held the trunk to the backrest. I must say I am very disapointed in the quality (or lack therof) for the plates welded to the frame that the anchor screws going through the bottom to hold the trunk to the frame. It's not metal and not plastic but breaks like plastic and we had to cut off the right side plate and are trying to frabricate something to replace it with. This is for sure a two person job, just getting the hinges from the top fastened to the bottom ( you have to have the lid partly closed to get it to aline but partly open to line up the screws coming from the outside). Will keep you informed as to progress. Just want to say I would not have known where to start without all the great help from this web site, you guys are the best support group since Woddy Allen in Everything You Wanted to Know about Sex but were Afraid to Ask (for all us old timers who remember the movie)!!!!
23. My latest article in http://www.thetentacle.com , a local commentary site in Maryland. It's about food for motorcyclists on the road. http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=3294 RandyA, I owe you for this. Read toward the bottom and you'll see why. Thanks for the book! 24. As I stated earlier this month I discovered the prior owner of my 99 RSV had busted out the bottom of the trunk and several of the screws had or were pulling throught the holes. Joe was kind enought to hook me up with an e-bay add for a replacement in the correct color ( got it for $200.00). It just arrived and I noticed some very fine hair line cracks on the bottom of this one also (but not all the way through. Joe also gave me a web site to get different fastners that have rubber and metal reinforcements (hope they work). I am worndering if I should put down a layer of epoxy or something to reinforce the bottom prior to instillation. Any thoughts would be welcome.
25. Help! Took my 83 out last night. BTW MarCarl, she's still running GREAT!! Except I look down and notice that the Temp Gage isn't working. It just sits on the bottom. Now my questions are: is this something to worry about? and how do I fix it? Thanks everyone!
