1. Contrary to what we were led to believe last fall, this winter (so far) is turning out to be a lot nicer. Yesterday's high was 14 Celcius. Forecast for the up coming 14 days is looking pretty good. During my short 2 block walk for lunch today I saw 4 guys on bikes. With any luck I will get a chance to get out on the scoot over the coming weekend!
2. While sitting here in the office I have the local news network on in the background. What used to be an occassional report has been getting very common. Motorcycle vs. what ever they can hit..... Not just once a day, but several times a day... basically during commuter hours. This morning's was a fatality. I tell ya it's getting so I don't want to go around the block on two wheels... Even while riding around in the truck or 'Burb watching the crazies, I look around and I'm thankful I'm in a cage..... It's ridiculous.
3. Hi, I have a new to me 96 RSTC with 4x4 exhaust... i know it has the baffles in there but dang is she loud! each beat sounds like the Hammer of Thor ... BOOM BOOM BOOM... and when i "get on it" sounds like a small block w open headers....... is this normal? im only concerned with getting a ticket... other than that i love it... she did pass inspection in PA with no problems
4. I swapped out the stock shield for the clearview..not sure if this caused this adverse condition or if it was always there. Anyway, I got tired of air blowing up beside the tank hitting me in the chest and helmet (alot of buffeting). I got the knee protectors from Buddy Rich and with the help of a heat gun and some 3m tape, I came up with these. After six months, I love them. They don't block all the air but they do block bout 75% of it, creating a much smoother ride, but still enough air to stay comfortable. They don't block any air to the engine compartment. To give you an example of what I'm talking bout, at 60 mph hold your hands palm down along side of fuel tank in front of your knees....RSV's may not experience this.
5. Now that I have been adding accesories to my 07 RSTD, the battery post are clogged with wires I attached. Is there a better way? Perhaps some kind of terminal block I could install. As always, you suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark:bowdown:
6. I have read a couple of posts about cleaning the contacts in the kill switch. Can someone explain how to get at them. I split the housing and see a white block under the red switch, does the red switch pop off the top of the housing and the block pull out to get at the contacts? Thanks..
7. I want to add an Accessory fuse block. I have searched the subject but can't find much info. I'm looking for what type of fuse box and relay I'll need and how to wire the relay. Thanks
8. Well some says If you don't want your daughter on the back of her boyfriends bike, So last week I picked up a 2004 650 V-Star ($2200) for my 16 year old, and she is begining to learn to ride, scheduled to take the rider safety course in May. She has already rode it around the block, its 8 miles around the block we live and is doing good, about 45 mph is her max speed so far, I have told to no more than she is comfortable with, but she's learning. Bike needs a back tire, michellin commander 170/80/15 was delivered today had a new pirelli on frount. But I got the bike for $2200, thought that was excellent for an 04. with 28,000 miles on it. Will post picture tomorrow. Gregg
9. If you know of anyone that can do it better, please reply with an attached video. I'll graciously bow down... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQ7R_buZPSo]YouTube- KEN BLOCK GYMKHANA TWO THE INFOMERCIAL[/ame]
10. I need to know which shield to get that will block more wind off the wife when we ride two up. All help appreciated.
11. I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, with 223,000 miles on the car. The engine went south on me an I don't feel it would be worth repairing it. I'm considering on replacing it with a remanufactured engine from Marshall Engines http://www.marshallengines.com The cost for what they refer to as a long block, with new heads would be 2,300.00 with a 3yr warranty unlimited mileage. Does anyone here have any knowledge on this manufacturer about their engines? Thanks
12. Hey guys. I am in the process of making a new fuse block from the glass fuse holders found at your local Radio Shack, but I think I might have a clearance issue. The original fuse block is short so it fits comfortably under the "Gas Tank" cover. I bought a small water proof case to mount the fuses in but I don't know if the case will clear under there, because I don't have the "Gas Tank" Cover to snap over it. (It's in storage) Can someone please tell me approximately how many inches I have to work with under there and how tall the fuse block case can be once bolted down. I'm gonna use the old bolt holes. Thank you so much for your help on this! Chris
13. I like to keep things neat, especially wiring; my question for others is: Where do you have your passing lamp circuit grounded? All the way back to the fuse block? battery? headlight surrounds? Thanks for the input (just curious here).
14. Well, another year for MotoGP here, and the crowd downtown for bike nite has doubled! We got down there just as they were letting the bikes in the area, got to park right on the corner in the middle of the action! Saw an 87 Blondie from Iowa there, the only other 1st gen we saw. A couple of 2nd gens, left VR cards on them all! Probably 1000- 1500 bikes down there, they stretched from south of Union Station to a block or two north of the circle (about a 5 block span), with bikes also filling 2 side streets as well. A couple of notes, we saw at least 4 09 VMaxxes, 2 Visions (yeck), probably an early 50's Harley that had NOT been touched since it was built. Red Bull had a big presence with a couple of "Party Blocks" setup (sponsor of the race). All in all, a really good time! Met up with Pegscraper and family, showed them around looking at the bikes, their Foreign Exchange student Carmen had an absolutely great time (she likes the "ape-hanger" choppers with the young fellas riding!). That's her beside the Boss Hoss bike. Finally ran into Mariner Fan right as we were leaving for the night, he had a dead cell phone and NO CAMERA! Mighty strange for Bob! Heres a few pics, check out the Harley with the custom paint:

16. I need a jet block gasket. Don't know if replacements are available or if I can repair. Let me know how to repair or where to get a replacement. I'm including pics. Thanks.
17. Am stumped I am trying to find a place to mount a fuse block on my 09 RSV. I had originally purchased a Blue Sea fuse block but it was way too big to put under the drivers seat. I then purchased a smaller unit from Centech which is an AP-2. It is smaller and has some great features but I still cannot find a proper mounting space. It can be jammed in behind the battery but it will rub and I don't feel comfortable with that. Am looking for ideas.. Where have you place a fuse box on your bike? Thanks,
18. Hi, I just joined up here, so I was told by a friend of mine that he thinks there is someone on here that makes an aluminum block to go behind the Yamaha light bar to make it stick out alittle further forward is this true and can someone hook me up? I got one made by someone on another forum but, I don't like it. It let's the lightbar vibrate every bump I hit! Therefore letting the lights bounce too. Can someone help me out? Thanks, C.C. Rider
19. Hi all. There’s been a little bit of talk about coils going bad on the 2nd generations. I think I might have one going out on the #1 cylinder (left rear). I have compression, fresh fuel, new plugs (cleaned the carbs TWICE) and even have some spark, (just not sure how strong). But I can grab the exhaust while the bike is running and the other 3 are hot. I am going to switch the two back coils tonight to see if that is indeed the problem. I hope it is, so I can put this gremlin to rest. If the coil is the problem, I need to order one and they are on back order. So….My question is this. Can I block the fuel off to the carb for that cylinder so I’m not wasting so much fuel? These things run surprisingly well on 3 cylinders. So why not block the fuel to that carb and ride until the new coil comes in? Thanks in advance for any advice and help you all can offer.
20. It was 14 degrees F this morning and I had to get an electric heater out and heat the engine up on the SS bike to get it started.Does anyone know of a block heater that can be used on a bike? I am hoping that I can get one to fit the oil pan on the Venture with the cooling fins intact. Jeff
21. Need your help. I installed an auxilliary fuse block, recently. the hot wire has a 30 amp fuse between the battery and fuse block, and is activated by a relay. ok, here's the question...if i wire the passing lights to the aux fuse block will the passing lamps still require its own relay?
22. It's been a while since I've been stumped, but I am right now. I am working on Dave Pankows '86 and for some reason I dont have the headlight working now and it worked when he pulled into the driveway. I have replaced the fuse block with one of the upgrades to push type spades. I have done half a dozen of better of these with no issues. Everything appears to be working normally on the fuse block as I have tested to make sure of power from one side through the fuse to the other lead side. The bike starts and runs all the lights work, signals, emergency flashers, running lights, but no headlight. It's a new bulb as I checked it and the filaments are good, I just have no power to the switch. Now mind you that I am not good with chasing wires from a diagram. I have a repair manual but it might as well be in swahelie as far as understanding wire diagrams. I'm not sure if I have to have all the electronics hooked back up for the headlight to work. I dont think so, but I've been wrong before If some of you electrical types could help this dumb welder out I would appreciate it BTW: I am looking for the headlight assy for this '86 also as Mr. Butterfingers dropped it and broke the front glass out
23. I am attempting to upgrade the glass fuse box to a plastic Buss type. I read a thread awhile back where one of the members did this, but of course I cannot now find it. Here is my issue. The original glass fuse block isolates the incoming power for each circuit, ie, headlight, turn, brake, ignition etc.. The replacement block has one incoming terminal for all outputs. There is no way to isolate the incoming power for each circuit. I determined that with the exception of the accessory circuit, the remaining circuits are all hot once the ignition is switched to the on position. The accessory circuit is hot (not surprisingly) once the key is turned to ACC. I could isolate the Accessory circuit with those individual rubber blade type fuse sockets and run the remaining circuits through the new block. My thought was to simply strip the wires, wind them together solder them to a heavier gauge wire and terminate at the hot terminal on the new block. I am hesitant to this because somewhere along the line I thought I read that there was a reason each of the circuits has its own individual hot feed in the original glass fuse box, in particular the lighting circuit. I don’t want to fry anything and somehow I think my plan is to easy. Any ideas out there?
24. The battery is looking like a rat's nest with the extra wires (heated clothes wiring, stebel horn wiring, etc.) and I am adding a fuse block to clean it up. Where have you mounted one of these? I ordered a Centech2 from CycleGadgets and it should be here Friday for installation this weekend. Suggestions? Thanks, RR
25. Got the pipes on everyone, and love the sound(Roadhouse Pipes - slash cut). Loud enough but not to loud. Very good rumble. Installation OK, just did not care for the wood block and hammer persuasion I had to use. But still worked out good. Have to kinda wiggle them as you go and take a wood block and drive them on a little ways at a time (wood block against the muffler hanger ). Then bolt up and tighten clamp. I also used some high heat silicone on pipe /muffler connection. I then unplugged the AIS and installed K&N filters. Purrs like a lion. I like the Roadhouse, good chrome to the end of slash cut pipes. I did not go with Bubs because I did not like the polished aluminum ends, I like the slash cut. Fuzzy
