  1. kind of hoped one of them would elaborate since it was thier deal. we all met in springfield mo. some time after noon. after we checked in at the motel buddy and roadkill started changing electronics over. it started raining. when they got done we ate dinner at the waffle house. the rain let up and they headed out to walmart. glad i got to be with two of my best buddies for the big occasion. the next morning we hit the waffle house again and i headed for home. great weekend. i rode about 480 miles round trip. jay and buddy had to go alot farther. buddy ended up with a venture and jay got a wing. bill
  2. all i can say is there was a venture and a wing involved, and they both seemed to ride off satisfied. :clap2:
  3. okay roadkill and buddy we're waitimg to here how you like your new rides. you had plenty of miles to pick them apart. bill
  4. i think i am going to go into debt as deep as i can. running a household with good sense don't seem to work. wonder if mao tse sung has a few bucks he can spare me.
  5. never kept a bike very long. maybe 2 years at the most. i'm a sucker for the latest technology. my 88 v-max was around for 8 years. an alltime record for me. of course it might have been my all time favorite.
  6. just got home, looked like both were happy with the trade. glad i got to see buddy and jay. weather really was'nt good, but we had fun anyway. jay is already making out his wish list. told me i have to many lights on my wing, and that i need curb feelers. lol. what else can you expect from a roadkill. :rotf:
  7. well, got nothing to do this weekend, the weather looks good, and i talked to buddy this morning, so i think i will ride down to springfield for the big bike swap between him and roadkill. looking forward to seeing both of them. maybe ride back with roadkill sunday. linda said don't let the door hit you in the butt, and lowell ain't even here. lol. i get no respect. cabin fever is beginning to mellow. can't wait to leave. trouble is will i be able to keep up with roadkill on that new wing coming home.
  8. got to copy that. made my day. brings back the good ole days. :clap2:
  9. well it looks like both sides had there say in this thread in a basically nice way. time to get back to oil and car tires. :clap2: or 1rst gens, 2nd gens ,and wings.
  10. amen, i'm with ya buddy. Godbless allthe people who fought and died so i could have the great life i have had in the greatest country in the world. Whats happening brings tears to my eyes when i think about it. Snarley bill
  11. hey greg that is awesome. she did well. bill
  12. just a little info that may make your dyno more efficient. most motorcycle rotors are made from 400 series stainless steel it is somewhat magnetic because it is it an alloy of steel designed not to rust. some bike rotors are 300 series stainless and not magnetic at all like a kitchen sink. a motorcycle rotor may not give you the drag you are looking for. the ford rotors are cast iron and very magnetic. so before you put money out you may want to consider this factor. bill
  13. i don't do casino's, and i definately don't ever play the stock market. i like to have cash in the bank. a rich friend of mind who dabbles in the market and knows his way around it well, so he thought, is loosing his arse. luckily he was smart enough to just dabble. he was uneffected enough to ruin his life but he said he lost some big bucks. my theory is set the big money making dreams aside and be happy with what you got. greed will do you in. i don't envy the rich, i just enjoy the little i have to the fullest. bill

i don't think you started a politcal issue at all. you asked an honest question. ethanol is one of aluminums worst enemies. i have built some hot two cycle engines when i was a teen, and ran ethanol and castor oil in them. a jelly would form in the carb if you let them sit for any length of time and the aluminum would pit bad. the new cars designed for e85 have new materials throughout the fuel system, to prevent corrosion. your bike does'nt. when they first started putting 10% in gas way back when, it was found that this was a safe limit. the only advantage to ethanol in the 10% range that i can see for the consumer, is it will help slow down the fuel burn rate and act as an anti knock additive to a certain degree. i would'nt put over 10% percent in anything i own. there comes a time when you have to investigate things on your own because folks are out there trying to steal every thing you own to fill their pockets. like i said if you know anything about physics there are no free lunches. if there was an answer to this alternate energy source the really brilliant minds would have figured it out. actually they have figured it out but it is way to expensive for the average person. bill

you won't be for it when you end up paying $4.00 a gallon and get alot less gas mileage. believe me it is a get rich quick scheme and big business will buy up all the farms and the farmers will get it where the sun don't shine also. they are just starting with 15% it will increase to 100% .your gas mileage will drop by a minimum of 33%. it cost alot more to produce than gasoline. what are we going to do with all that leftover mash. the process of making the ethanol will pollute. have you ever stood next to a race car at indy . the exaust fumes will burn your eyes and take your breath away. this is another scheme where greed is taking charge with no thought for the future outcome. the american people need to wake up. nuff said. this has been a thorn in my side from day one. hope this is considered more scientific than political.

ethanol is highly corrosive much like water. the new cars designed for high alcohol content use more plastic to take the place of the aluminum. i would'nt use it if the vehical is not designed for it.

i think e85 it the biggest get rich quick scam ever thrown at the american people by the big investors, and the american people are going to take it where the sun don't shine if they pull it off, (ultra high fuel cost). we will still be dependent on other countries for the corn it takes to produce it. lets drill for our own oil. i don't know how they got the american auto manufacturers to go along with it. this is a small part of why they are close to going under. to much money for research and development to get cars to burn the crap. there's an old law of physics that says you can't get something for nothing. there just ain't no free lunches.
  18. sounds like thinks are starting to get better for you. i hope so. just said a little prayer for you. about those wisdom teeth think twice about having them pulled. they did'nt name them wisdom teeth for nothing. since i had mine pulled i don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain.
  19. buddy, i'm sure glad for both you guys. roadkill got the bike he has been wanting for awhile, and a nice one at that, and you got one of the sharpest looking 2nd gens around. looks like you both came out on top. never know i just might show up in springfield for the ceremony. don't know if i want to ride back to st. louis next to an old fart on a wing. do ya think jay will be able to handle something that high tech with all those bells and whistles? :rotf:
  20. mike is quite the innovative engineer.:rotf:
  21. i sure hope so, but i would'nt hold my breath.
  22. just turned 66 in dec.. won't quit riding as long as i can get on and hold it up. it's getting harder every time.
  23. hey lutz, you will never believe how much i would like to do that. 15 years ago i would'nt have thought twice about it. seems like when you get old ya get a little smarter, i call it fear. you start seeing you self sliding down the highway on your arse. did alot of that when i was young and care free but now it does'nt hit me as fun anymore. there was a day when i would do anything on a bike. i guess when you get old and your reflexes get sluggish you just get a little scared to do the things you once did. i hate getting old in a way but i would'nt go back for nothing. still would'nt mind building a new max. your going to have to do that for me my friend. bill
  24. i'm thinking about selling my kaw. zx14. i have had it about 2 years and only have 1345 mi. on it. i have $17,000.00 invested in it and just don't have time to ride it. it is one awesome ride. and is in brand new condition. i keep it in my heated work shop year round. it has all the go fast goodies, chrome wheels, and alot of carbon fiber stuff. basically a street legal drag bike with awesome sport bike handling. it has boz bros. stainless gp full exaust system, custom dynajet program, msp air shifter, msd shift light, and to many other things to list. it also inludes a not yet installed extended swing arm. this is one awesome looking bike and unbelievably fast. i have decided with a little prodding from my family that i need to face the fact that i'm not a kid antmore. if anyone may be interested i am asking $11,000 for it firm, and i have the title. not sure whether i will advertize it yet but thought i would try word of mouth for awhile. bill
  25. good idea orrin. wings are easy to sell and seem to bring a very high price on ebay. don't cost nothin to advertise on the wing forum.
