Need Clutch Install Advise
Squeeze replied to RidingArk's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Because you're working in the Connection between Clutch Boss and Crankshaft. And, don't forget to place the Washer between Clutch Basket and Clutch Boss. -
Yes Jack, the Elmo's are good Machines. I payed 250 Euros for the cheap chinese and 600 for the used, big Bantelin. That was a real Steal :) On the chinese, we tried to clean an Exhaust Valve from a Diesel Motor and got all the Gunk cleaned away, as well as the Hard Chrome on the lower Valve Shaft. OK, we left it in the Bath for more than one Hour at 50* Celsius and the Valve has had some small Dents in the Hard Chrome before, but nevertheless, impressive.

Hey, i dialed that Number(1-800-Call SomoneElse), but you didn't answer the Call ... Who was it ?? She had a wonderful Voice with a deep Subtone, almost like Marianne Faithful. We had a nice Chat for about 16 Miuntes, but then, she had to get back to work.... whohhoooooo :whistling::whistling::whistling: I fully understand your Situation and i'd suggest to send those Reminders, all together with the initial Mail to h3||. You wouldn't need to figure the Solution out, just in Response of the Mail you received ... As a Sideeffect, you would have more Time getting annoyed by others who have all the Rights, because you ARE their System Administrator. :rotf::rotf:

If your haven't worked on the Carbs and splitted them recently, you're most likely chasing Vacuum Leaks. Let the Bike sit on Idle and take something burnable, like Brake Cleaner and carefully spray it on the Manifolds. Where the RpM rises lies the Culprit.

Well, as long as it isn't Mr. Gates himself, this might be you ? I hope your glad i've mentioned that, so the next Time there comes something up, you may contact your System Administrator by dialing the Hotline ... your own Cell Number.... at least this is not an expensive 0900-Number :rotf::rotf:

Jack, i seriously doubt that he was refering to the Speedbleeders. Maybe it's a bit hot in California lately ... :rotf: Regarding the Ultrasonic Cleaner ... I don't know where you could find a Machine in your Area ... Ok, i gotta admit, i was bragging a bit over this wonderful Machine. Buying one, might not be an Option as these a not cheap, at least here in Germany. Sending it to you might also no good Solution, because this one is real big.

The knocking sound at unpressed Lever is the bearing inside the pressure Plate. It's a standard 6003 Ball Bearing, but Yammi seems to have some extra heat Resistance build in. They Cost may be tripple the Price of a good Quality standard Bearing. Other than this, it seems to me, i wouldn't change the Bushing. New Plates and a new Bearing, bolt down everything and be a happy Camper. -
Some MC Repair Shops may have them. A bigger Industry Plant may have them also, such a Machine can be used for cleaning anything. I bought a smaller chinese 5 Liter Bassin and got very good Results. Later, my Company(which i own ) bought a big and good Quality 45 Liter Bassin Machine ... Now, i can place the whole Carbset in it without splitting. We professionally use it for cleaning Parts from Oil Burners, Fans, Casings, Air Ducts, several Motor Parts such as Heads, Pistons, Valves, Injectors, virtually anything which fits in this big Bassin.

You might bite the Bullet and find a Guy who has an ultrasonic Cleaner. That's the only real Answer to get them cleaned out

Don, i'm getting much much better Response Times now. Way faster than 10 Minutes ago. Edit: Not that i would have had someting to complain about before, but now it's FAST !!!

I third Gearhead's Statement. The Clutch Basket runs on a plastic Bushing. Unless you didn't notice anything acting weird or making a Noise, you'll be fine by only preplacing the Friction and under rare Circumstances the Steel Plates. You'll need as special Tools to hold the Clutch Boss for opening the Nut. This Nut is tightend down with 130 Nm Torque, it has to be a tough Tools or you'll break something. -

The Clutch Basket is the outer Part of the Assembly. It's outside has Fingers to which the the outer Edges of the Friction Plates engage to. The inner Part, called Clutch Boss, is the Part to which the Steel Plates engage. There should be no axial Movement of the Clutch Boss and only very little Movement on the Clutch Basket. I think if the Movement you see is not more than 1/20 of an Inch, you should be fine. -

Todd, do you think we should call your Condorbrace Test Run as failed ?? Besides that, we have a saying here in Germany, translated to English i says "Those who have the Damage, don't need to take care of the Mocking" ... And not at least to say, i'm glad you can still talk to us. You really should think about quiting that !!! -
I'm very sorry to read this. Randy, i hope you can get all the Money reimbursed to repair evrything. The custom Paint Job does make the Bike unique and therefore, there's no Way to cut the Payment short.

If you can turn the Clutch Boss from left to right(clockwise or counterclockwise), this would be normal. But if you can move it on the Axle, towards and away from the Cutch Boss Nut, that would be a Problem. -
I doubt that. I've never seen a newer Bike with the Choke Knob, Cable or Lver being on the right Side. It doesn't make Sense. Even on 'left handed' Bike, the Throttle is on the right Handlebar. So, when adjusting the Choke, you need the left Hand to operate Choke while the right Hand is on the Throttle.
-
Folks, this is very easy. While riding, shut of the Engine by KillSwitch and leaving the Bike coasting in Gear and no Clutch applied, now open the Throttle two or tree Times for a second. Then just put the the Kill Switch back on .... BAMM ...

Ignition switch or other??????
Squeeze replied to Red1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This sounds pretty much as the Ignition Switch at Fault. -
Well Gary, as long as they don't ask you if you're his elder Brother, i wouldn't give it too much of Thought ... :rotf::rotf: :bighug:

Question on Higher Output Stator
Squeeze replied to kantornado's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Heaten up anything on a Race Car always has to do with saving the Item for longer Endurance or Safety. Heated Oil and Water gives less Temparature Difference, therefore a shorter warming up Period and almost instant Abiltity to push the Engine to the Limits. Warming up Tires is to have them close to the working Winodow for instant Function. Them just don't stick to the Ground without being hot. In MotoGP, they even use Heaters for the front Fork, because the Oil isn't working properly when cold. I fully second the Carbs are safe inside the 'V' Statement. -
It's no fun to search for an Error away from Home, but you could check each Down Pipe for getting equally hot, starting with the bare Hand on cold Pipes, then spray some Water on the Pipes and watch it condensate. A infrared Thermometer would be extremly helpful on this. This Way you could see which Cylinder is the Culprit. Checking the Diaphragm is some work. You need to undo the lower Fairing on both Sides, open the Diaphragm Bowls, and carefully pull the Sliders with the Diaphragm attached out of the Carb. Watch out for the tiny O-Ring which has to go back in Place underneath the Diaphragm and is sealed by the Sealing Surface of the Bowl. I have had a Friend reporting similar Behaviour on his Max, i found the left rear Cylinder as the bad Boy, opened the Carb Bowl and there came several Pieces to light. The Screw which holds the Jet Needle in Place came out and the Jet Needle, the Washer and the Spring came loose. Mileage was bad and because too rich Mixture on lower Revs, the was no Ignition until 4000 RpM. Hope this helps

They will George ... they WILL ... THEY ARE ... Alternative Energies are a huge Factor in german and europe's Economy and rising straight up every Year. Shell build a factory for electrical Solar Pannels 5 Years ago, it was the biggest Factory on the Planet at that Time. BP entered this Business a Year or two later but with much more Money, they didn't even build a Plant, they just bought Production built by their Specs in Factories all over the World and labeled them. Recently Wurth has bought a big Area in a 'Future Technology Business Park' and the Plant is about to begin Production. With the warming Climate we're devleop here, this will be a big Part of our energetic Future. But .... In Germany we have drastic Laws about building your own Power Plant on your Roof. Up to 30 Kilowatt peak Production, nobody can claim anything against your Decision, only Exception goes for Buildings with historic Backgrounds. Not even the Power Company which has to buy your Power from you, can hold anything against your move. No Neighbors to deal with, no Bureaucracy, nothing. You just inform the Power Company about your Plant and call them to seal the Ticker. The Price is set by Law, and guaranteed for 20 Years from beginning of feeding into the Powernet. And the Price is high. Around twice as much as you pay for each kwh out of the Net. You can built a big a Field of Paneels just with a small Excel Sheet and your good Name. There's a Bank(owned by the Fed) which gives you a Lot of Money (50,000 Euros each Person per Year) for financing such Investments at cheap Interest. Now, guess who's paying the Difference between Solar Price sold Energy and standard Energy bought ?? Not the Power Companies, not the Government, not the Taxpayer ... NO .... The Consumer does it, with his hard earned and well and more well taxed Money, which is left after more Taxes. Nobody else ... Well, another rip off i guess ...

You think the Revs are low ?? Let it fly once, then rethink that. It won't hurt anything, the Rev Limiter will kick in way before anything is endangered. Well, except your DL maybe ... Seriously, the Revs are low at Interstate Speed, there is much more Life in her. It seems your lugging the Engine quite often.
