Diaphragm are the same. Sliders are also the same, except the '83. The '83 has smaller Lifter Hole Boring than the others. -

OMG Dan, i'm really sorry to hear this. No Bricks in WV to built a solid Shed ? I kepp my Fingers crossed for ya and the Bikes.

You need to run some Fuel through the Carb or it won't stop. You should give the Stuff a good Chance to get to the Job done. Seafoam will loosen up the Crud, but when you let the Floater Valve kept close, fresh Fuel can't wash the Crud away of the Valve Seat. Take a ride at least 20 or 30 mils and run the C..p out of the Bike(and the Carbs). No Babying, only 3rd gear and open Throttle.

After Bleeding Brakes
Squeeze replied to KarlS's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Check the Pivot Bolt between Pedal and rear Master Cylinder for sticking first. Then check if the Pedal, in upper most Position, leaves minimal Free Play between the Push rod and the Piston in the Master Cylinder. There has to be Free Play, if not, the Expansion Hole might be blocked from the Piston not returning fully. If everything seems to fine outside, check what Earl said. -

Nope, they're NOT the same. 2Gen is different and won't interchange. I doubt this Information will get through a Western Union Wire Splice, because Western Union used solid Core Wire for making the Connection. This won't work as good on a Bike. The Wires on the Bike are not solid, there's another Way to maintain a good Connection, i've seen the Description here before, but i don't recall the Name nor the Poster. -
That's Kind of Wierd. I bought a big Banner from Ebay US and shipped it to Germany by USPS. The Seller charged me with 38 USD. Did take 10 Days to get it here. I was shocked when i saw the Package. It was 6"x6" and aboth 6 ft long. It would have cost an Arm and a Leg to ship it here in Germany from one End to the other.

Rick, i understand what you're trying to say. Did i ever tell you that i live fairly near the SAP Headquarters ?? I personal have no Experience with those Guys, but a Buddy of mine is working for StorageTek in one of the SAP-Building. Another local Buddy works for IBM since 20 Years and he .. .. well i think they're all the same ... ROFL ... I'm running and keeping my own IT and all those new Rules our Gov' shells out every Year are just about enough to keep me busy updating. But what i really wanted to say is ... I'd probably trust that IBM Guy, but I'd never trust someone from the Gov' to access my Network from inside the Firewall ...

I'd give that IBM Guy the Benefit of the Doubt, but ...:crackup:

The Problem which occurs from this Connection are not the Load itseld, but the Resistance which builds up after some Time. With heavy Load, every Milliohm of Resistance makes a very good Heating Element. The Pins itself could handle the Load fine, if you can definitely ensure they will not expose any Resistance later down the Road. With this Sort of Connectors, you can't expect that, therefore solder them togehter, isolate them good and be a happy Camper for many Years. -
C'mon Swifty, only some States to learn, you will have that in no Time !!

Need some help
Squeeze replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm working on Construction Machines as well as on big Trucks, Cars, Motorcylces, whatever and i'm familiar with the Usage of such Tools. I didn't work for me or one of my Employees. If you had better Luck, congrats. I think it's different if you snapped the Bolt because it is corroded or stuck in Place or if it you just stripped the Head off. -

Ebay Carb. Diaphragm Replacement!
Squeeze replied to skydoc_17's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Jack, their Website wasn't any better for me. No Kanji Knowledge or Interpreter here also ... But i think when someone from US or CA takes Contact with them, they can sell the Parts. If not, they could refer to a Dealer which has bought them. The Diaphragm from the XV 535 Virago are the same as 1Gen and Vmax. I checked my other Source in the meantime, there gone there also. So, the best Shot seems to get a Hook to the Company in Japan. Regarding the Price, i won't hold against your Bet. Greg in London referred also to Keyster in his big Thread about Fuel Consumption. They had the Diaphragm for Sale but only a few Parts for the Carbs. Maybe he can chime in here and check his Source in UK. I don't remember the URL he posted. -
Ebay Carb. Diaphragm Replacement!
Squeeze replied to skydoc_17's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When there's only one Supplier on the american Continent, i might be a good Idea to approach him with a well shaped Number of Parts off an Group Buy ? Maybe 25 Sets ? I think this would get the Sellers Attention ? I just checked the Keyster Germany Website. They had the Diaphragm on their Webiste, but it seems they've taken it off and selling Aftermarket (TourMax) complete Sliders only now. Can mean, they make more Money out of that, or the Replacement Diaphragm was not a good Deal for them. I have another Source, i will check .... later ... -

Need some Brake info 1200cc Venture
Squeeze replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You're right. The R1 Rotors are "floated" 298mm Diameter, the MKII is solid 282mm and the MKI are solid 267mm. When upgrading a MKI to the MKII or R1 Brakes, you need the lower Fork Legs, Calipers (100mm Mounting Distance) and 282mm Rotors. The R1 Rotors fit the 2nd Gen Bike, though. The Reason why i wrote "floated for the R1 Rotors is this: The "floated" stock Yamaha Rotors are made out of two Pieces and held together by a Sort of Rivets which look like Floaters. But these Rivets don't allow the outer Ring to move in any Direction whereas at a real floating or semi-floating Disk, the Floaters allow the outer Ring to move from left to right in a Range of around 1/10 ". The Semi-floated Rotors have a Diaphragm Style Spring which only shuts down the Rattling Noise full floating Rotors produce by Design. That's a convenience Thing and does nothing to the actual Function of "Floating". The stock Rotors are done when worn out, with real floated Discs you can replace the worn outer Rings and if needed the Floaters and get out cheaper. The Idea of full floating Discs is this. When you run a fixed(solid) Rotor between the two Brake Pads, there's always some Loss in Performance due to Misalignment and Fabrication Tolerances. The Fact that the Rotor expands during heating in a non specific Direction under braking doesn't help either. When you run a moving, read somewhat tumbling Rotor through the Pads, the Rotor will adjust itself exactly in between the Pads with nearly no Force needed. When the Rotor expands because of the Heat produced, the Adjustment is continuing Process that goes back and forth as needed. With floated Rotors, you gain around 2 to 5 Percent braking Power and Longevity, depending on how good or bad the Parts are mechanically aligned and how the move under braking. It's not a academic Value, it's real Gain. -
The Arrow is pointing towards Exhaust, that's right. Silicone is mostly used as a Glue, to keep the Gasket in Place during install of the Cover. You might clean the old Silicone off the Cover and take use of another Portion of Silicone. You will need to cover all twelve Corners and the round Parts in the Middle neae the Cam Chains. Let the Silicone cure over night with the Gasket se in the Cover and try your Luck the next Day. Or you can try to mount the Cover without usind any "Glue". You will need another Pair of Hands, a flashlight and a fairly long small Screwdriver or a thick Wire to wiggle the Gasket in Place. You will need any Patience you find inside yourself and eventually extend your active Vocabulary while doing so, but it can be done. Best of Luck !

To me it sounds like two Problems might be the Culprit, eventually both occur. First off, you need to check your Cable routing form the Grip to the Junction Box. You need to undo the Connection inside the Junction Box to check if the short Wires which lead to the Carb Set allow the Throttle Valves to snap back in Idle Position. This is a must! The Throttle have to close when you let it go. Second, you may have a Vacuum Leak around the Carb Set, but you need to check the Cables first. Third, you could have a seriously unbalanced Carb Set. This can happen when someone tries to adjust the Idle Speed and accidently uses the the Balanceing Screw instead of the Idle Screw.
