I was reading one of the other threads that brought up a question... Has anyone ever tried to get a color match at an automotive parts store or other vendor to match the Venture, and did the color match up well? I've got a white trailer and just can't justify spending $500 on a paint job. Has anyone painted their trailer to match their bike and have any pointers for doing so?

My concerns of EFI, non-link ABS and ditch the cassette and cd have been touched on. I'm just elated that they are actually going to listen to us! I'll keep my 06 for many years, but I'll be looking at the new product with great interest. Maybe when I'm ready to retire, I'll be ready for a 3rd gen!

Pulling the trailer, 2-up -36. Pulling the trailer, 1-up - 37. 2-up 38-40. 1-up 42-48. Mine does seem to be getting a litlle better though, 06 with 11,5xx. I do always try to ride the speed limit. Occupational hazard, but I'm riding to get away from work, not to it!

I'm like freebird and have mine on all the time. As for an easy way to aim...I live in a relatively rural area, as least can be in 15 miles. I waited until a late evening and rode out to a long strait stretch. I had tighten them to the point they wouldn't move on their own, but would by hand. When I got out there I was able to line them up with the low beam quite easily. Just tightened them up when I got home.

I have a set for a 2nd gen. They work great, but I only have them on when its hot, July-Aug. They are very well made, but my baby looks better without them. So when it cool off, off they come.

Yammer, I tried a friends C330 on my scoot last summer with a ram for a 1500 mile trip. It was GREAT. I didn't feel like I had to watch every sign and got to watch more of the trip. That's why I went to researching it. The C339 didn't have alot of features, but if you wanted to just explore, it would get you back where you wanted to go. I'll still own an atlas, but only to see the bigger picture BEFORE I head out.

Well I was all fired up to get the Zumo, when I got a deal on a Tom Tom 720 - less than $300 brand new. I ordered the Ram Mount and all should be arriving tomorrow. I guess we'll see how it goes? Anyone got any feedback on them?

Hey Highway, You've got me beat, to date. I've got 28 in as of now, but probably will go to 38 yrs. I'll be 58. I will envy your riding time. A bunch of us will be riding down to your neck of the woods in June. Right now I think there'll be 10-12 troopers.

The super Tech filter is a very good filter at a great price. I was using PureOne filters, but it appears to be nearly identical at nearly 3 times the cost. On the oil I use Rotella, just because my family has been in heavy equipment for years and the stuff is very good. Here's a thread on the filters you may find interesting. Also, I've found similar threads on other sights concerning cars. BTW, that ST7317 fits my lawn mower and Infiniti G35. Less that $3. What a bargain. :2cents:FWIW http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=371&highlight=super+tech

Congrats on the ride. I picked my up in a snow storm, but had to have it in the garage asap. Rode it the next day....that was Nov 06. I still like it better every time I ride it.

Avon Venom-X MT90B16 won't fit
1sttenor replied to Trimster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I put on Elite 3 MT90s and they worked, don't know what their trouble was? Maybe they don't want any liability? -
I realize I'm jumpin' in late on this one, but I've been using Pledge (whatever was on the shelf at Wally's) since the 80's for my bikes. An old Winger said he'd been using it on his old 1000 GW for years. It looked like new and it was 12-15 years old. So I took up the torch and have used it without any damage for 20 years on both windshields and body. Just keep it off your seats! Or you'll be singing the old tune "slip slidin' away". FWIW:2cents:

After reading about using the Blue Tooth to talk while underway - I think that's why I want one. I was considering just getting a cheapo C330 or something, then I read on here how some of you have used the bluetooth successfully to talk on the helmet mics, well that's a great perk and would keep me from stopping so often when "the boss" isn't with me.

We'll be praying for you Meandog!

What's the best price anyone has seen or paid on a Zumo 550? Gotta get one for summer riding! On second thought... Are there other GPS units out there that are less costly that anyone would highly recommend?

Sorry for the late reply. I hadn't seen it. I pull a Neosho. (See avitar) Love it. I can't tell its back there most of the time. Most of my frields want me in front when we ride together if I'll pullin it, because they say the brake lights and signals are so bright they can tell from a 1/4 mile that we're turning. I doesn't hold quite as much as some of the other trailers out there, but plenty for 2 up riding for a week with a tent. They were also great to work with.

I'm Formalizing The Butler Mod
1sttenor replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just a question.... Someone mentioned to me that there was a post on "another Venture site" about linking the brakes. What are the pros and cons of both???? -
My wife has nearly quit riding with me complaining of too much wind buffeting. She says that after an hour behind me with our OEM windshield she gets headaches. I'm only 5' 10" and she's 5' 6", so on the pillion her head is slightly above mine. What windshield do y'all recommend including height and width.

What's the best tires?
1sttenor replied to adventurer 08's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My last change I went with Dunlop Elite IIIs. LOVE THEM! Smooth, quiet and wear great. Very similar tread design to the Venoms. I did go with the smaller front tire and as advertised I felt like someone took 200 pounds off the bike.
