Not ABS, but slightly cushions the pressure applied to brakes as not to lock them up when you panic brake as I did this morning. The bike didn't have time to transfer it's weight to the front fully with my grab on the lever. I've noticed this on single front disc bikes. There is less braking ability, but it lets the bike transfer forward before you really grab it hard. I've read a lot of you guys have wheel lock-up's here so any help is worth looking into. Some of the reviews I read are very encouraging and it's design seems plausible.

Going to order some of these. http://www.tcbbrakesystems.com/ Had someone pull in front of me on hyway going 70 and squealed the front tire grabing the brake. Anyone else try these before?

Just ordered some K&N's. The inlet hole is about Ø0.75 in area smaller than the outlet on the filter housing. I'm going to change the opening to a slightly diamond shape to get it about Ø0.75 in area bigger than the outlet, then put a course screen over the opening to keep the critters out! That's how NASCAR reduces power by adding carb restrictors! I'm sure I'll have to rejet, no biggy. And I just bet my mileage will go up slightly. Seen it plenty of times on other bikes. It's all in the jetting.

These bikes are so nice even mice love them. Went to see if my new to me RSTD has K&N's in it and lo and behold, mice had chewed the edges off one of them (stock ones). Gave me a good excuse to the wife to buy new filters (K&N's of course). CHECK THOSE FILTERS!

Well if you leave them alone, maybe you'll get a third!

The Vboost ties the front & rear carbs together on each side below the throttle plates. This then increases the fuel that is pulled in on the intake stroke. The same volume of air is pulled in, it just comes from two fuel sources breathing through the same air filter. Well all it means is if it leans it out, it gave you more airflow, then you just have to rejet to that air flow. I understand just the holes alone may not work. Just wondering if there would be any other trade off's? MPG go to Hell? Low end affected. I really think it could help righer RPM's. I'll have to think about it more! Just re-read your post and would diagree with that it pulls in the same volume of air and just increases fuel. That wouldn't give you much at all. It pulls more of both in as that's the only way you'll get more power.

Has anyone heard of putting a few extra holes in the inside surface (3ea ¾ dia.) of the air filter housing along with a K&N? Sounds plausible as these engines like to breathe and that's what the V-Boost is all about on the VMAX.

2006. Is just black a midnight model or other things different? Mine has chrome forks and was wondering. There is about a $900 different in KBB also between the 2.

RSTD is a 06 with 13K, my RSV is a 99 with 56K. Got the RSV thinking I could get the wife to ride, but to no avail. Loved the engine so I found a RSTD midnight instead. Love it! Just sold my 03 Honda Sabre to an Afgan Vet. He's very happy now. It's a good bike too. Served me well. Anybody need a 99 RSV in great shape in Virginia?

YEP, freezer bags are MUCH cheaper than a waterproof model!!!!

Great idea. I setup one of my bikes similar to this with the stock horn option and additional air horn if needed. Both hooked to the stock horn switch. I just additionally hit a custom made switch under the grip were your fingers always rest actuates them both. Addition of flashing light is a good option.

Concerning your leak, mine was leaking near the clutch rod, not the seal itself but just to the rear of it. I left the clutch actuator out and started up the bike and there it was dribling out at the case split line. Put JB Weld on it and no more leak! The natural guess would be the seal but noooooooooooo........... I won't tell you how long it took to find!

Rear trunk and speakers to sissy bar swap.
ACE50 replied to paai1993's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Since the trunk is fairly easy to remove, 6 screws and some wiring, I just fabbed an alum plate (20 x 16) to mount on the rack to hide the wiring and serve some tiedown ability. I'll forgo a pass backrest unless needed. I'm going to call it my 'Flatbed RSV'! -
That would be a little more than I need or could afford. Very aweome though!

Thanks. She's running so good now I don't when I'll tear into her again. Kinda spoiled me against my Sabre now. Lovin the V4 and exhaust note. Thinking about getting rid of the Sabre for a Magna V4.

VMax gears, thanks Freebird
ACE50 replied to MikeWa's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Venture riders using VMAX gears and VMAX riders using Venture gears. What's with that! Did Yamaha get them mixed up on the assy line? :shock3: -

I think he is using the line in as a power source just to drive the engine. I don't think it's running on it's own. He never installed alot of things as in a normal engine. All pretty cool though!
