  1. Leave your tank full or it will rust. Just add a ethanol treatment to it. Carbs will evaporate out within a few weeks. If more than a year setting, drain tank and put new gas in before you start it up.
  2. CVT is the best way to drive a vehicle...............if not a little boring. Any combustion engine has a powerband and a sweet spot (RPM) in that power band. A CVT is suppose to keep the engine in that sweetspot. That's why car companies keep adding a gear to auto transmissions to keep it near the sweet spot. Some have what...6 or 7 speeds now. A CVT is just better if they can make a reliable and strong enough one.
  3. I like my carbs...........back off!
  4. I'd love to have a C14 but couldn't get rid of the RSTD. It'll just have to be an addition. Anybody want to buy a really nice ZRX1100?
  5. I had a Valk for a week from a friend. Probably why I drifted from V-twins. Just smooth power. Klunky transmission. Leg position cramped @ controls. Unique look but not as good as a RSTD. Never riden a harley (no desire to) and just can't think of another bike I'd like more than my RSTD. Comfort, looks, great smooth power, exhaust note, dependability, convertability, driveability!!!! Last weekend riding with some friends, one on a C14 behind me. He kept up in the curves (of course) but he was amazed at how I could take the curves so fast. After the higher leveling links, its fun, fun, fun!! I only draged the floorboards once, and I have NO chicken strips left! :cool10:
  6. I think seafoam is overrated! That's right...I said it!
  7. Bottom of carbs under small tapered caps (have to knock them off to get to them if still there) Counter clockwise to open them up. Plug AIS and sync first though to see if that fixes it. I've gone with one size larger on pilot jets. Starts easily without choke. Off idle response is great. Mine are 2.5 turns from lightly seated.
  8. Motion pro will work fine, just that there are much simpler, quicker ways to do it. No fluids involved........
  9. synch carbs, get rid of or plug AIS, open up pilots screws a half turn or so. No rejet needed it your carbs are in good shape. Mine runs like a bat out of hell and still gets 42 hyway. A slight more mods than you though.
  10. I'd be willing to meet up in Charlottesville (I'm in Lynchburg) to sych up. I don't have a carb tune, just the finest, simplest, most rugged, accurate gage out there. This weekend is a rally with friends in NC so it would have to be weekend of June 8th. That's if you can't find one closer.
  11. If I had room for a couple more bikes, one of them would be a Valkyrie!
  12. Just another big plus!
  13. Heck, the only reson I moved up to a bigger bike (VT1100 Sabre, good bike BTW) was a friend let me have his Valkyrie for a week and I realized, hey I can handle a big bike OK! Just didn't like the foot position on a Valk, loved the smooth engine though. So started looking. Went to go buy that VTX1800 and they sold it an hour before I got there. I was pissed. But not NOW! I'm keepin this thing!
  14. If it is the pilot screw, there is a VERY small o-ring on the screw. Being where it is and getting the tapered cover off first is gonna be tricky. The o-ring might not come off withe screw and you'd have to get in there with a VERY small hook to get it out. May end up taking the carb's off??
  15. Got a chance to ride a VTX1800 which I almost purchased before my RSTD and WOW! SOOO glad I wound up with the TD. I can't think of any other bike now I would rather get. I can keep up with the VTX and the TD I think handles better. Scraped boards a lot on VTX. With the new links I haven't yet on the TD. Much smoother power (of course), ride much smoother.................just OH YA! Heck the only downside to a RS is the weight and maybe a little tall in the saddle but I'm 6'3" so I'm cool.
  16. Looks like the leak could be from the bowl drain screw. Maybe just needs tighting. The brass tapered cover is to the pilot screw. They have to come off to adjust them. I wouldn't think it would be leaking from them.
  17. Well the cow was wearing leather, what happened there?!!!
  18. My range is 38-42 MPG depending on how i drive. Diffence in bikes is minute. That many miles could indicate a small difference in jetting (cleaning needed), rough in 5th - a slight lean condition, hence better MPG.
  19. I'd recommend to anyone with a RSTD to tint or blackout the lower part of the windshield. First, it looks better. Second, and more important, all the chrome in the front just reflects the sun right in your face. I blacked out mine about 4" above the upper chrome piece and all below that. Much, much nicer to ride without the sun reflecting in your face. Mine is the midnight model so it did match well. Tint film will not work because of the double curved surfaces.
  20. The only problem would be if the windshield has a double or single curve in it. A single curved windshield is doable as the film will lay correctly on it. A double curved surface requires a film that will stretch to fit the surface and tint film will not.
  21. Man, I thought I pushed in the corners. I routinely dragged floorboards, even hitting crash bars too but never had problem with 150 E3. With the new links in rear and now higher, I seldom drag floorboards. If I realy want to have that much fun I'll just jump on the ZRX1100.
  22. Blended means dino with syn. T6 is as I said. Refined enough to be allowed to be called syn.
  23. Don't even try Royal Purple. I've heard more problems with that in a motorcycle than any other brand. BTW, Rotella T6 is just a highly refined dino oil that is 'allowed' to be called synthetic.
  24. How does an Elite 3 compare to an Avon?
  25. I'm usually in NC at least once a month near Reidsville to ride with a good friend there. He has a VMAX to my ZRX1100 and his Honda ACE tour to my RSTD. Just depends on how we want to ride that day!
