  1. I bought the N43 Trilogy near the end of season, closeout for $130. Not bad for a Nolan. It's a little shorter than my HJC FS-3, not bad. Is noisier too. Like the variety it has. Added a detent to visor as it had only up and down, I like a just cracked open detent position. Modified the sun visor as it needed to come down another 1/8". Chin guard rubbed on my chin so I dremeled it out, down into the EPS foam and covered it with felt. Also chamfered the chinbar insertion ends as you put it on blind and sometimes it was hard to put on. It's a little easier now. Really like it now after all the fixes. I still bought a full face for my sportbike though. Haven't tried it yet. Another model closeout, $40. I watch for model closeouts all the time. Usually half off or more.
  2. Only 75% done but here's the design. Started out as just a fork brace. Had to mill the red area on top of forks as they were just a hand polished area from the casting. Added the deflectors when I found the nicks. Will black anodize all when done.
  3. I'll add this tidbit. My ZRX went through 2 sets of fork seals in a year. I always checked the tubes for any nicks, but this last time I took a small flat Arkansas stone with oil (superfine white one) and ran it over the seal area and there they were. Very tiny knicks in the seal area. Didn't feel them until I ran the stone over them. I'd bet this solves my problem. Also designed a fork tube guard/deflector so it doesn't happen again. A lot of bikes don't have them.
  4. I find that it just taxes the engine less, reminds me of my friends Valkyrie. Acceleration just seems quicker. If most of your riding is hyway, I might not even do it. Higher RPM's, I find I just ride a little slower on hyway as this engine just purrs at 3000 RPM's. I ride in the mountains and city a fair bit and I really like the improvement there.
  5. I actually live in Lynchburg VA, but I'm in Reidsville at least once a month. My best friend has a cabin (mobile home on 50 acres) we use as a hub. Let me know and we can set something up........................when it warms-up!
  6. Come up to Reidsville NC and you can ride mine!
  7. I have a pair of DJ which saved my knee in a slow downer once. Need to get the jean material sewn back up as the Kevlar is OK. It still burned the knee some. Wife bought me some Bohn Armor for Christmas. That should take care of injuries even more. Waitin' for it to warm up to try it out!
  8. Those filters have a lot less surface area than stock, but if your just going for looks..........
  9. Larger slow jets took care of that. Some people think just opening the air box will help but you have to balance it out somewhere, usually larger jets to match.
  10. Hey, if it lets in more air, that's a plus. I just opened the opening to the stock ones and noticed a difference. Aesthetically it might look better too!
  11. Nice bikes. Same reason I got a ZRX1100!!
  12. Worked the first time I tried it. Will prob do it from now on!
  13. ++1 on that. Probably the most bang for the buck right there! and getting it tuned-up properly.
  14. Please explain...............??? 98's had smaller carbs anyway.............
  15. A friend just put on a reinforced swing arm on his 2000 VMAX and larger wheels to use lower profile tires like sportbikes have. He says I made a world of difference in handling! I can attest to the lower profile tires as the Stratoliner front wheel on my RSTD made a big improvement in handling. I just have a slight rear wobble in high speed corners I think is coming from the rear tire. (E3) Gonna try another brand next time. At least the RS has a beefier swing arm than a VMAX.
  16. I sold my RSV for a RSTD and glad I did. I think it looks better, didn't need all the other stuff cause the wife wouldn't ride anyway. Love the Q.D. windshield and backrest as it allows me to change it up when I want. Can't do that with a RSV!
  17. Stock or speed bleeders don't need sealant on threads when closed as they seal on the tip, not the threads. My speed bleeders did have thread sealant but it's only there for when you crack it open as to not pull air in when the ball closes for bleeding. Additionally, When you install speed bleeders, when you take the stock bleeder out and it did not have a rubber cap on it, most probably dirt has got in the seal area. When you install the speed bleeder, that dirt will get into the check ball and prevent it from working properly. Make sure you have those rubber caps on those bleeders. It will save you time and trouble later on.
  18. You need a '96 or later as it has the flat for the speedo. I just milled the hole as the lash setup procedure when swapping gears seemed too much to do. Had it milled pretty quick anyway. I took the ring gear out and just vacuumed the chips so they wouldn't fall inside. Worked great. Love the way the bike accelerates now. Less effort on the engine but hyway speeds are higher, I just cruise at a little slower speed now, not that it matters.
  19. Too bad. That means that great V4 engine will disappear in the sunset! The one in the Vmax is already gone. It's completely different now. Put that new VMAX engine in a new touring model! 200HP and 25 MPG!!!!
  20. STOCK
  21. Not gonna happen, it's one of the seven deadly sins and it isn't going away anytime soon! It's not the goverment's fault either! WE elect these people. How many times have you heard during an election people ask what the candidate will do for them? What bullsh_t! How about the common good? That's why we have Obumercare. Give me, give me, give me!
  22. Don't know how your gonna get an unbalanced harley V-twin sound out of a balanced v4! Love my Bub's though.
  23. All 'royal stars' have it I'm pretty sure.
