  1. first off I hope everything heals up ok. I have multiple stories (It take me a while to learn). While building my home I was on my ladder nailing up the soffit (two story house) and the ladders started sliding sideways. I’m not sure how I got down before the ladder hit the ground, I think I jumped off when I had 7 or so rungs left to go. The ladder got bent; luckily I just had a bruised ego. I was cutting the spindles down for my front porch rail using a table saw. A couple of blocks where vibrating by the blade and my wife thinking that she would help out, reached in to move the blocks away from the blade(yes it was running at the time). I grabbed her arm and pulled her away and chewed her out for attempting something like that. Then not two min later I reached in to move a block away from the blade (yes it was running) and instead of it sliding away from the blade, it went into the blade and shot right at my eye. I doubled over in pain but managed to hit the safety switch. Luckily the block was big enough that it hit my brow and the lower socket bone keeping the block from penetrating the eye and skull. It blinded me in that eye for about 3 weeks (until all the blood finally drained from it) and detached a small portion of the iris. Working construction framing a home, I was nailing up a wall the nail hit a knot, came out and stabbed my finger. I jerked my and away and immediately grabbed a handful of my shirt and rapped my pointer finger in it. I noticed that my ring finger was bleeding; I wiped at it to clean it up and noticed a cross cut like the nail had struck it. I then noticed my index finger was bleeding and looked closer to find that the nail had gone through my first two fingers and into my ring finger. That’s when I went into shock and had to sit down. Too many kickbacks from the table saw to mention (usually cutting round disks on the table saw out of 4' by 4' sheets of plywood) but only nicks on the fingers.
  2. Got it home ok but it did seem to tighten up a little. I'm thinking that I will clean/rebuild the MC and the calipers this week end. I don't want to take any chances.
  3. To bad you don't live in my area. Some one is selling TWO Ventures for $1600 OBO. An 85 Royal and 83 Royal and me with no money.
  4. Well i had already bought the stuff to bleed the brakes so during lunch I did that. I found that I didn't do a good job last night. There were tons of Air bubbles coming out. I made sure the fluid level was down a little so we will see how works for the ride home. Now at least I have some tools so if it locks up again I can release the pressure.
  5. Well be praying for him. Hope he gets feeling better soon.
  6. Should both holes be clear? IIRC there wer two holes one was clear the other looked like there was some sort of diafram in it Or I could see the plunger (or it was really dirty) the bottom hole was clear.
  7. My rear brake system was not working so I removed the MC and replaced it with a spare that I received when I got the bike. Grabbed a can of Brake fluid of the shelf and bleed the breaks and walla I have rear front brakes now. This was all time consuming (started around 8:30 pm and finished about 12:30 am) but not real difficult. (By the way the Speed Bleeders work really well). This morning the bike would not start so I removed the TCI (it's relocated to be under the false tank) and put it into the oven on warm for 15 min. Re installed it and the bike started right up. So off to work I go. I'm lucky that my commute is only 10 miles. At the 8 to 9 mile mark the bike starts to bog down like it's under a heavy load so I shift down which help for about 10 seconds so I pull the clutch in to shift down again and the rear tire locks up...hard. I could not free it even with the engine. The cage behind me was a little close but they never hit me. I did the best I could to get the bike out of the street but I only got it out of the main traffic pattern. Luckily it was just a busy residential street. I turned the flashers on got off the bike and tried to assess the problem. (The engine is off by now). Well I figured that I did something wrong When doing the brakes last night so I checked the rear brakes (I hadn't put the panels back on just in case I had to get back into there) and sure enough the MC plunger would not move. I stood around for 10 to 15 min trying to figure out what to do. I finally went to the house that I was stopped in front of and asked to barrow their hose to cool down the brakes. So here I am practically out in the middle of the street looking like I’m washing my bike with the flashers going I'm sure people passing by thought I was insane. Well the water cooled the brakes down enough that I was able to get the bike out of the street. I was not able to get the bike to start because the flashers wore the battery down. Well if you have not guessed by now the lesson I learned is to NOT use old open brake fluid!!! I'm lucky that it didn't lock up on me while I was on the highway. So I walked the remaining mile and a half to work stopping at the auto parts store along the way and got everything I would need to bleed the brakes at lunch when I go retrieve the bike. By the way the whole time I was out in the street not one person offered to help or even asked what I was doing. Although no one on a bike came by.
  8. When I removed the "Bling' from my bike(I didn't like it either) all the little lights were wired together then pluged into the main wiring harness. It was as easy as Unbolt the "Bling" and unplug it from the harness (unless your PO was not as nice and did something funky).
  9. I remember BeltBuster from when I was in Texas, they were huge!! As a teenager I would order two.
  10. I'll be doing the same. and giving My 9 yr old a longer hug when I get home.
  11. If everyone would learn to be cautous and curtius then that would work here...NOT. Roundabouts will work once everyone learns how to use them. I was in a roundabout (just after the were put in) and almost got hit by a lady she didn't want to yeld (or slow down) as she came into the roundabout. She thought that the vehicle in the roundabout had to exit at the first exit they came to.
  12. If it is kind of a squeel it could be the speedometer going out. I have had three of them go out on different bikes. JAT
  13. ??? I got a home finace site in a language that I could not read.

    Sound Racer

I've got something like that on my ford Ranger...it's called no muffler. I think that the neighbor's would rather that I had one of those.
  15. Got the bike running well enough to get it registered with the DMV. Now it wont start again. I get backfiring through the carbs and the left side exhoust. I pulled the connections off the TCI (I have it sitting on the air box) and tested the coils and 3 of them read 4.0 to 4.2 ohms which I believe is too high the forth one was 2.9 ohms. Is this the posibly the couse of hard starting? Is ther a good replacement coil that I should look at or do I need to take my chances on old coils from EBay?
  16. That looks nice. You know if he didn't want to cary all the way to Taylorsville he could drop it off in South Weber. :whistling:I 'd give it a good home.
  17. I've never ben this old before either. I guess I need to have Ice cream more often.
  18. Radiation!??? Here in Utah its a health benifit! http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=14839130 :cool10:
  19. I have cleaned the cabs, they were not the bad. Nothing gummed up just a little rust build up. I took out he TCI, opened it up tried the drying and it still acts the same. I may need to look for an after market TCI.
  20. I have everything that I need to sync the carbs I'll be doing that in the next few days. It just does not want to start. If I bump start it it starts with on problem. The tachometer does not work for about a minute or two. Once the tack starts to work then I can shut the bike off and re-start with the starter. I was thinking that I might need to pull the starter and clean it up. Other that that I not sure what I need to look at.
  21. The only time I don't wear a helmet is if I pick up one of my kids on the way home and don't have the spare. The get the helmet (low states the anyone under 18 IIRC has to have one) not to mention that i want them safe.
  22. My smaller bike is the XS1100 that I ride all over. I told my wife the Venture is for long rides. Once I get the Venture in top shape, I'm going to have a hard time deciding what to ride. I do ride my sons CB450SC and my wifes XJ750 around.( I call them theirs but I think I ride them the most)
